I'm skeptical to the point where staying at a hotel and doing some childish spook test is easy. My problem was more I was expecting the townsfolk to fuck with him which would turn it into a bad time.

Love the allusion to John Wayne Gacy. The original clown killer. I think he also hid bodies in the crawl space of his house.

The commercial he watches in the room with the guy on the beach is a huge nod to the Alan Wake game series which feature many "shows" like this. Also this is done in Twin Peaks ( inspiration for the AW games ) that has its own very strange soap opera. But honestly the way the character in the scenes behave and the whole walking out of set and no one else in town really noticing it is defo straight out of those game.
