They didn’t show the training in the Manhwa but it was implied that Jin was being taught those techniques by the old man without him even knowing and Daewi was trained by the commissioners such as (Q and Park Mujin and the blonde dude R) more about chaeryok and Mira was also trained by a commissioner and inspired by Bongsi (the announcer the died), which she learned to not rely on her sword too much and use her body as a sword more. That’s why at the end of her fight Daewi has a flashback to his fight with her and said ‘oh that won’t happen again’ (because relying on her sword made her weak)

Explanation on Powers Charyeok (Borrowed powers) are powers borrowed from different gods/Legends (Qs Joker and his Scythe is part of it) same goes for the Dragon and the tooth fire blade. (The Mallet, Golden Sword, etc..) National Treasures: (that fouled mouth girl’s cross-gun) are legendary items, like something that belong to a god or was created by a god. Hope that helps.

This is pretty cool going back and forth with the tournament and the apartment, lets us see how charyeok is used as a basic tool, to how the pros uses it effectively, but I wanna see martial arts skills beat out charyeok like daewi destroyed the hammer haha

This universe is weird....people pay money to go to a high school fighting event and feel nothing about high schoolers getting chewed up by sharks, cut by light swords, and having boulder sized hammers smash into kids. Its really unrealistic in the scale of things but its an anime so eh

Animation is insane and some characters are likeable enough, but without a whole lot of actual substance to sustain its breakneck pacing, I can’t say it’s been ‘great’ so far. Characters and power ups coming left and right (plus playing the pronoun game) doesn’t constitute as good storytelling. The manwha at least provided more context and nuance.. Anyone else feel the show could’ve taken its time, earned these amazing fights, and been better for it?

i agree, so far the show was good for me, but this episode...dropped the ball. There was no Explanation for their powers, or the limits of them. Getting stabbed does nothing, for multiple people, getting parts sliced off, neither. The big guy with the Hammer, falls flat after his Hammer is destroyed? And the end with the shark guy, same thing. Getting mauled by a shark just leaves you a bit bloodied. I hope they take some time to explain things, not only action and action

i agree the pacing for the anime is so damn rushed lol but as long as they stay true to the story its fine, i read the webtoon and what i understand is that the charyeok/god's borrower users literally borrow that certain god they use and use their power so most of them have regeneration abilities as for genuine fighters like Mori they don't because they use their own bodies and then there's a third one that uses national treasures that borrows the weapon and use it's power to fight so to summarize theres three categories: the charyeok users, the genuine fighters and the national treasure users.

honestly i dont even feel like its that rushed some parts like the wedding and fights do drag on a bit more in the webtoon but story wise it aint bad also manga's or manwha is always gonna feel slower cause you are reading and often taking more time depending on the person compared to an anime that follows a set speed made by the animators
