Fun Fact: If you look at the Map of Paradis and Marley, shown in Ep 20, you find out that Attack on Titan takes place on Earth. Paradis Island is LITERALLY Madagascar. (except bigger) Turn the map upside down, it is the coast of Africa, 1-to-1. So it literally is Earth, except Titan powers showed up sometime in the past, and thus history changed, and country names changed.

There were 145 kings since Ymir died. Each king ruled for 13 years. 145 x 13= 1885. 1885 + 107 (Number of years since the 145th King built the walls)= 1992 Eren has 8 years left 1992 + 8= 2000 Title of first episode "To you in 2000 years".

One thing I notice a lot of people miss about that Coordinate reveal is that Eren says he has to touch "a royal blood as a Titan" so the reason he didn't reveal it is because he was worried that the military would eventually turn Historia into a titan just to be able to use that power, based on a hunch that may or may not be accurate. edit: I see yall caught it on the next episode lol

hey guys they explained last episode that during the great titan war the king fritz at the time turned away form the violence, and took many of his people to the island, then erected three walls and that's where the story has taken place so far. so it's already been revealed that everybody inside the walls are eldians and can turn into titans

Alright, I've been waiting for this! Some non-spoilery fun facts about this that you definitely won't catch on your own! Buckle up, it's a long one, and it'll probably make your head hurt. And here's hoping it doesn't get caught in Patreon's spam filter! And now for a mindfuckery analysis of the significance of the number 13 (the time someone has left to live after inheriting the power of the 9): * From the narrations in season 1 and the history books shown, around 100 years ago (specifically, 107 years from chapter 2 of the manga), the first ruler of the Walls, King Fritz the 145th created the walls to protect humanity. * When a someone gains a titan power, their remaining lifespan is set to 13 years due to "Ymir's Curse". Same number of years between the royal family's succession ritual. * "145th king" means there have been 145 wielders of the Founding Titan at that time. 145 x 13 = 1885. So 107 years ago, it has been 1885 years from Ymir Fritz. * At present time (1885 + 107) it would be 1992 years since Ymir Fritz. * Eren got his titan power at age 10, he's supposed to die when he's 23. Currently, Eren is 15 and has around 8 years left to live. * 1992 + 8 = 2000... What was the title of the first episode again? Oh yeah, "To you, in 2000 years." No biggie, nothing to see here. Also, the only time they put a page number on the SnK Tankobon (the Shingeki no Kyojin manga volume, like the book you showed in your S3 Episode 1 reaction) is on page 13 (https://imgur.com/a/T6aWioG) of volume 1 (chapter 1 “To you, 2000 years from now”. You can do some math magic mentioned above) where Eren wakes up from his dream (PATHS?) But there’s also another thing: Leap year. In the lunisolar Hebrew calendar, a 13th lunar month is added when applicable. Why is that special? Well in Japanese Kanji, this 13th month is written as 閏月 (leap year is written as 閏年). The significance of this character 閏 is that it’s written by joining two characters 門 and 王. 門 in Japanese means “gate” and 王 means “king”. Together, it’s written as a “king residing within the gate”. Sounds like our favorite 145th King, Fritz. More random thoughts. In addition to today’s Curse of Ymir, the number “13”, usually associated as a rather unfortunate/deathly number, is prominent in AoT/SnK. Makes sense when there’s tons of deaths in the show. * Eren and co are from 104th training corps (divisible by 13) * Year 845 is divisible by 13 * Year 850 is 8+5+0=13 (super stretched I know) * Erwin is the 13th commander of the Survey Corps (lots and lots of deaths there) * Levi is begged by Isabel and Farlan (in the OVA “No Regrets”) to join the expedition on their 13th night together in the Survey Corps. He trusts them and reluctantly agrees. Both of them die tragically. Another random info. One of Linked Horizon’s recent track is called “13 no Fuyu” which roughly translates to “13 winters”. It’s sung by none other than Yui Ishikawa, the VA of Mikasa. “Winter” is kind of important because Mikasa meets Eren for the first time in the winter. Hence the scarf. I'm not sure you caught this, but "Shingeki no Kyojin", aka "Attack Titan", is the name of the show in Japanese. It's been sitting there right in front of us and we didn't even know! And, no, Attack on Titan isn't a mistranslation. The manga author requested that that be the English title.

Also, just wanted to point out, if you compare the Japanese name of the series and this episode, they both say Shingeki no Kyojin. So literally translated from Japanese to English, this show is called Attack Titan. So we kinda went full circle as we closed off the main first part of the story which I think is cool!

He can only use the founding titan when he is touching a TITAN of Royal Blood. Thats why he stayed quiet he doesnt want her to suffer as a titan and as Eren Kruger said "Repeat the same mistakes over and over"
