S tier indeed. Hohenheim is one of my absolute favorites.

godUsoland

Yeah, Ep 40 is a godlike episode. I think ep 30 (ishval backstory) was also S tier.

Jake Thompson

Hohenheim is still Hohenheim, just with half a cities worth of souls inside him. Father essentially just walks around in a Hohenheim suit reconstructed from his blood to house his new power.

Brian Sexton

not only do we find out the whole connection between hoenheim and father, but we also get the explanation on how xerxes was wiped out in one night. It's so hard to pick a favorite episodes, but 40 is definitely top tier for sure.

Zion

Father knocked over teachers piece because he wasn't sure if she would be alive when the time comes. She good now though... Whether that's good or bad is another issue.

jesse almonte

my favorite episode finally came yay

Kreative

I've been waiting for this episode!

saintvenom

A goat tier episode indeed. What an imagination the creator must have had to come up with this story. FMAB is incredible.

Max Murillo

Note that people in Xerxes (Xerxians?) All have the same phenotype as Ed and Al. They've all got that flaxy golden hair and yellow eyes, like hohenheim. They're pretty much the last Xerxians alive. I never thought a simple visual design decision like that would turn out to be foreshadowing this ep.

Reign

Izumi powerup episode KEKW now shes gonna fuck shit up without any downsides of her body

Stephen Chamberlain

Obviously one of the best episodes(I'd say in all of anime) and love the reaction but side note I love how you've taken up the "that's rough buddy" quote, makes me smile every time.

R3APER

Yea this is the part of the show when the quality goes into overdrive

R3APER

The most iconic episode (outside of the Nina episode) is still so far away. We past the halfway point for this series now though.

Unique

Once again Hawkeye and Mustang with the crazy level of communication !!!!!

Ruma Risto

Hohenheim and Father look the same but they are two very different people and two separate characters. Hohenheim is still a human being but he is immortal due to all those sacrificed souls from Xerxes. That's why he can perform higly advanced alchemy. Father is literally the Dwarf in the Flask who just walks around in an artificial Hohenheim costume.

Misato-San!

lol at Ed saying he wouldn't want to see a philosophers stone that big. Literally his daddy

Starwind08

One of the things I love about this show is the rewatch-ability, easy to miss the first time, but when teacher (Izumi) asks who Hohenheim is and he replies: 'I'm a Philosopher's Stone in the shape of a man. That's WHAT I am" Poor man, doesn't think of himself as a person anymore. But there's a metric ton of foreshadowing or hidden messages in the entire series, it's great.

This is one of my favorite episodes! Hohenhiem is my favorite character in this series

Adiuva

With Izumi's piece, Father knocked it over because he said she was just a possibility, while he knew the brothers and Von Hoenheim were guaranteed sacrifices. At the time people were in contact with Izumi from his side, it was only speculated by them that she had seen the truth.

DAINTHEMANE

Fun fact- Young Hohenheim is voiced by the original English voice actor of Alphonse from the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime.

Nikolai Cannady

Father is the Dwarf in a Flask in a copy of Hoenheim body, but after seeing the truth, Hoenheim became a living philosopher's stone because of the amount of people sacrificed, meaning he didn't have to give up anything himself so he is still technically human but now immortal which is why he was able to have children. He didn't exactly split into two people, but this episode basically shows how old he actually is to be living as a slave in the lost city of Xerxes.

Manjot Gill

You see how Ed, Al, and Hoenheim are the only people with golden hair and golden eyes? Thats cause theyre of xerxies.

Mr. Toastman

I'll be damned if I let another man rearrange my girls insides, smh
