OK, fresh poll for Code Geass removed the third option so if anyone votes they are forced to choose one. I promise I'm not tryna turn this into Hell in a Cell, Just want a fair poll. Cast your votes again please, this is the final poll for this. Will be deleting previous poll.

Code Geass is in my top 5 favorites, and I watched it all the way through subbed and dubbed. I vote subbed. Besides lots being lost in translation for the dub I do not like the voice acting at all.

I love both and alternate on rewatches, but it's hilarious how folks are saying dub loses out due to translation as if we all speak and understand Japanese to know the difference + acting like we ain't reading translated subs to begin with.

The dub is decent but there are monologues by Lelouch in the Sub that can never be replicated in the dub despite the VA best efforts. The Voice work for lelouch is one of the best performances of all time. You'll see

What’s funny is that you can watch TY vids of people from japan commenting on people in the west watching anime in dub, they encourage it because they want people to enjoy it regardless. Most of you are probably American & the irony is hilarious

Edit: I watched a couple eps of the dub and the majority of voice actors are good but the voice of Nunnnally absolutely tanks it for me, she has some of the most emotional moments in this show and it just doesn't do it justice. I gotta switch my vote back to sub.

I personally think it just depends on the type of anime you're watching. With info heavy anime like this one I prefer dub. I watched this show in dub and it's my #1 favorite anime, but for other anime, sub is way better. And this has nothing to do with reading speed or anything like that. I looking at it from just the enjoyability perspective. People can debate sub v dub all day and rag on people for liking whichever but as an American, this show in dub was top tier.

direct translations just doesn’t work for this show as dub tbh. Hearing “big brother” is so cringe rather than “oniisama.” Especially at key moments. For that alone I go with Subs.

So I'm reading the comments and my god its a war, but i've seen people say "The dub is on god level with FMA". The way i'm seeing it FMA has side characters that don't play a major role in the anime are dubbed great & of course the main characters are voiced greatly, but that's not the case for Code Geass. The dub for Code Geass only extends to the main characters being VA'd nicely but the side characters are meh... so if you can look over that i don't mind. I only ever watched CG & FMA in sub, but i'm enjoying the English dub FMA watch through with Roshi

We've got so many English and German style names, though. The dub, I think is great AND the name pronunciations get mangled less. The sub is good but Shnizeru and the like flow a bit better in the dub. All things being equal...i'd go with the more natural pronunciation.

Cool with either. In a show like this where plot is important and a lot of action is happening dub makes sense in my opinion. Hope no one gets upset if something is missed because they're needing to read a paragraph or watch Suzaku do a 720 degree flip.

Lol so much toxicity in these comments 😭😅. Honestly either is fine, if the show has a sub and dub i usually watch them both. I prefer dub personally for this cause I used to watch it on toonami back in the day, so it's nostalgic for me. Subbed is amazing too btw, it's not hard to read and watch. I will admit though that the wording from sub to dub is petty different in some episodes.

Dubbed would’ve been better for this one in my opinion. It’s soooo much strategy and thinking that reading it all can take away from focusing on the scenes on the screen. It’s not like the dubbed is even bad or anything it’s really good.
