Pizza Hut's US branch refused to give them the rights to use the logo in Code Geass, so the western release just erases them all and BEEPs whenever they mention it in the commentary. (although someone fucked up and the Pizza Hut version of R2 episode 14 is on some of the DVDs and used to be on Netflix, even though it was censored in the first DVD release)

It depends entirely on how you quantify "America". Does it having a king instead of a democracy really mean it's a completely different country than the one we know? They make off-hand mentions of places like San Diego and Chicago later, so it seems like most of the major cities still came into existence regardless of who owned it. And Pizza Hut exists, so it can't be THAT different.

I mean, thats kinda like saying that the Virgin Islands nuked a bunch of civilians in WW2... In this reality, America isnt "America" a country, its a landmass that is a territory of Britain. Britain, the country and Island, is the power center. What we think of as the country of America doesnt really exist since it lost the revolutionary war and stayed as a territory of Britain. So if you quantify "America" as the landmass, then sure, America is a big part of the Britannian Empire. However if you quantify it by who is actually "in charge", its Britain. They mention places in America and show it on the map as well, but they also show Britain... and its even in the name. "Britannian Empire", not the "American Empire" (or some other name that would allude to America over Britain. Ultimately, it doesnt really matter since this is a fictional alternate reality / world, but I just wanted to respond since you did bring up an argument that touches on an interesting idea of how do we view a "people". Eh. I think its just seen as America rather than Britain because us Americans tend to think that everything has to revolve around us xD

yea but they literally show the US the mainland with the brittania flag in the center. and its not like they labelled it as an "area" either. a lot of the time (at least from what I've seen in anime and manga) the Japanese will just generalize all western countries and say "US" to represent them

For the people arguing over the logistics of Britannia; it's a generalized what-if scenario that Great Britain won against the 13 American Colonies during the Revolutionary War and took back control of it, meaning Britannia is the combined forces of the USA and the United Kingdom becoming a war-hungry superpower who went on to bully most of the rest of the world and obviously this show is a think piece on war and western culture in the eyes of some Japanese.
