diavolo skipping his own monologue is simultaneously hilarious and epic

Different Part, same old Polnareff getting the short end of the stick

Mf polnareff had ptsd from dio during the flashback lmao

godUsoland

Something I love is that Polnareff met both God(Dio) and the Devil (Diovolo) on a Staircase. Polnareff looked up at Dio who was at the top, symbolizing God in Heaven, while Diovolo was at the bottom of the stairs, symbolizing the Devil in Hell. Dio and Diovolo's name literally translate into God and Devil respectively too. Polnareff truly was the Protagonist of Jojo.

POLNAREFF NOOOOO!!! I really wish Jotaro would've been here to back up his homeboy, dammit. Imagine if Polnareff was able to call Jotaro for help in this arc, it would've been sick.

FragZone

Real talk, if both Jotaro and Josuke were there to help the Part 5 gang, they'd take care of Diavolo no problem. Not to mention that Polnareff's body could become fully restored. :D It's just so heart breaking when you see Polnareff dying with the crusaders in his final thoughts, yet Jotaro has no idea what's even happening right now. I at least wanted Jotaro to arrive to help out of everyone. I bet Jotaro would've been just as pissed at Diavolo as he was at Dio for killing Joseph.

Destin Hill

So, yeah, the Diavolo/Dio thing. Dio means God and Diavolo means Devil, in Italian I believe. So the story is that when Polnareff looked up the stairs he saw Dio, or God, and when Polnareff looked down the stairs he saw Diavolo, or the Devil. Interestingly enough, Dio is actually stronger than Diavolo, from a pure Stand Ability sense. Skipping time is fine and dandy, but the problem is that if Dio stops time, skipping time doesn't matter. Jotaro also probably stands a good chance against Diavolo. Even if Diavolo can see the time that's going to happen and react to it while it plays out in reality, Diavolo himself couldn't move in stopped time, so Jotaro and Dio are both capable of beating Diavolo, since both of their stands are stronger and their stand abilities are stronger. At worst, Jotaro and Diavolo kill each other, and Diavolo has basically zero chance of defeating Dio.

Is the Dio vs Diavolo analysis canon? Because Diavolo could see ahead, see the attack is coming from Dio in 2.0 seconds, Dio stops time between 2.0 and 2.1 seconds, but then Diavolo erases all time betweem 0.0 and 3.0 seconds, leaving Dio on cooldown.

The Pebble

Now you're talking tactics Gesus, just like Jotaro beating Dio, Dio was far stronger than Jotaro back when they fought and could literally stop time 10 times longer than Jotaro; But through tactics Jotaro still won. Diavolo could win, but Destin is saying in terms of straight up Stand power and ability, Dio has the edge.

Destin Hill

Femto is basically right. Diavolo could possibly beat either Dio or Jotaro through tactics, but the problem Diavolo has - which gets shown later - is that he relies entirely on King Crimson's timeskip. Dio and Jotaro are both far superior in terms of raw Stand power. Physically speaking, Star Platinum and The World are the strongest Stands in the entire series - so far, anyway. I could argue a few later Stands have more base attacking ability than them, but none have both the strength and the speed. Dio and Jotaro's stand range is approximately the same as Diavolo's, so that's not any different. Stopping time is far stronger than time skip. Time skip doesn't "erase" time. It shows Diavolo what's going to happen up to x amount of seconds into the future, and allows him to react to it differently while having everything else continue through what was going to happen without knowing any better. It's definitely a strong, seemingly omnipotent ability, but it's actually the weakest of all the time-related Stand abilities. The cooldown part is also kind of moot from the beginning. Dio and Jotaro both - we're going to assume they're at their strongest for this comparison since this is when Diavolo is at his strongest - can stop time for longer than Diavolo can actually see ahead of time. Dio for a full 9+ seconds and Jotaro for a full 6+ seconds. So even if he activated it, Jotaro and Dio would simply continue after activating it, sans a few seconds, and react accordingly, assuming it even affected them during a timestop. The thing about time stopping is it doesn't matter what the fuck you do, if they're in range and they get it off they've won. Add in the fact that Diavolo's tried-and-true gut punch would do literally nothing to Dio, and Dio has every right to win that fight. What killed Dio in the first place was carelessness - he underestimated the fact that Star Platinum could move within his stopped time and didn't think that he could figure out how to stop time during that fight. Dio is, to this day, the strongest villain from Part 3 to Part 6, and probably even 7 and 8, but it becomes debatable at that point.
