13:25 Rewatching, just to clear the confusion, Rudy said the book was wrong, the book said people are born with a cap/max of how much magic power they might have, but Rudy tested it and saw that the more he practiced/used MP the more it kept on increasing, so there is no MP cap, you have to keep using it and it will keep growing. Also that Rudy has knowledge about science since he came from a way more advanced civilization, so he is able to do magic like the waterball stuff without the incantation because he has a very good understanding on the fundamentals about what water is, etc. This does apply to different or more advanced magic he might start using later on. His knowledge of science will make his magic more efficient, including being able to cast without incantations.

im late but You realize most average anime fans are just normal people who don't have anything to do with prostitution and porn industry right? And prostitution and porn is literally not just an American thing that's so stupid its literally and problem all over the world. And like wtf are we supposed to do about it? we don't run the gov we can't ban porn. Porn isn't the issue weirdos like you try to take the blame away from the ppl who are taking the very normal act of sex and abusing children with it. And dude the virgin insult literally is a thing all over the world. No offense but ur seem like ur just projecting

TheDroppedFry
>>56742216

Nobody here is realistically wanting to endorse pedophilia. In reality it is a weird ass concept that has been turned into a fantastic story that addresses and plays with all the concepts it deals with. I must say myself I have mixed feelings about a reborn 32 year old but it actually plays into the concept of what "isekai" means in the literal context. Naturally it's going to be off-putting, but I have to say it's done so masterfully that I really have no complaints.

naa

anyone else currently rewatching to prepare for the latest szn lol

Just saying it. Not the grandfather of modern Isekai. Multiple series still came before it in the last decade (source material) and Truck-kun made an appearance back in Digimon!

Mynamesjuan

My favorite anime of this season

Cameron 鳥

AHHHHHHHH WAKE UP! ITS THE FIRST OF THE MONTH😫😫😫

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Interesting choice was planning to watch this myself. What better than to watch it alongside "Yeah" gang.

None None
>>56156142

I think 1993's Magical Knight Rayearth is the real grandfather of modern isekai, because it was stupidly popular in Japan (it was made by CLAMP, after all) and inspired hundreds upon hundreds of trashy doujin (ametur manga) that ripped off the concept. The doujin community writing isekai eventually evolved into the web novel isekai and elements got added and subtracted from it over the decades.

JsnSkg

FINALLY! :D

DIO not Dio

I really like the VA for Rudy's adult voice, Tomokazu Sugita. The dude played Joseph Joestar, Katakuri, and Gintoki.

Erd'na
>>56156142

Yep. People think it's the grandfather because it's one of the series that popularize isekai genre. Many isekai tropes we see are due to Mushoku.

razgrizraven
>>56156142

Very interesting. There's 1 I know about...it's called Ryuu (it's hard to find online at times), never had an anime, but it's from 1986. Heck, like people don't know that SAO is still ancient AF in terms of series today. It was first released (in web novel form) back in '02.

Alex Omega

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Let's gooo

the mom getting her cheeks clapped had me weak lmao

Batman's Pet Goldfish

Quick reminder, this is this animation studio's FIRST anime ever. I'd say they did a pretty great job!

Lye Batenkaitos

Re zero came out in April 2012 (web novel) Mushoku tensei came out in november 2012 (web novel) Konosuba came out in December 2012 (web novel) so technically re zero would be the "grandfather" of isekai in this era but more people consider "familiar of zero" which was 2008 to be the first of the new era, and SAO to be the first major popular "isekai" if we count it in this category

L.C.

I hope they don't drop this series just because of the tiny perverted and uncomfortable moments because this series is so much more than that and it becomes less prominent as the series goes on. This series was almost tied with rezero for me for the best anime during this past winter.

TheToweringOtakunt

Yeah, I don't know what your exact schedule for this is, but you might wanna take your time with this show. They just went on a hiatus until like July. So, you've only got 11 episodes to watch until then. I wish it wasn't so, but there it is... *Sigh*

Erd'na
>>56156142

Honestly there are many isekai in the past. Aside from Rayearth, there's vision of escflowne, fushigi yugi, el hazard, now and the here and there, digimon adventure, inuyasha, twelve kingdoms. There's probably more, these are the only ones i could think on the top of my head.

JsnSkg
>>56157536

Technically yes, and technically no. Studio Bind is a collaboration between Egg Firm and White Fox, both of which are experienced studios. But yeah, they literally created Studio Bind specifically for this anime.

razgrizraven
>>56157569

There are 3 isekai that predeate stuff in 2012. Overlord and Log Horizon (2010) and The Devil is a Part-Timer! (2011)

Asmogan

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

JsnSkg

Definitely more accurate to call it the grandfather of many isekai tropes.

Lye Batenkaitos
>>56157569

yeah exactly lol, people need to chill with the mushoku hype. It's not the grandfather of anything except maybe "truck kun"

JC
>>56157614

Not hiatus dude lol Studio split the show into two different cour’s. 11eps in the Winter and 13 in Summer, remember Studio Bird was specifically created for this amazing show. It already got ordered for 3 seasons and has plans to be a long series in the endgame. Nothing wrong with them taking a break they deserve it...

Erd'na
>>56157569

There are way more older isekai than zero no tsukaima. They didn't have the term back then. But if you think about it, they are isekai. Like inuyasha or digimon adventure.

Z3RYLO

that gushers shirt is flame lupasan

Michael Corleone

A lot of these stories that are similar to Mushoku Tensei (Re:Zero, Shield Hero, etc) all started around the same time and come from an amateur novelist website. Since many of them started around the same time (2012), Mushoku didn't have the time to be influential or the "grandfather of isekai", rather it is the quintessential series of its genre. I'm also surprised people didn't warn you about something in the series, hope it doesn't scare you off because I love this series and am really excited to see your reactions.

kevin (btw i'm a girl)

I literally own like 8 volumes of the manga and didn’t even realize it since I haven’t read them yet 😂😂😂

DabnDab

Other than my slime boy this is my #1 anime this season, cant wait to watch yalls react. Writing b4 it even starts lol

DevilMayCarter

When he put those panties on his head, I just wanted to start singing Shimotea's intro... S.O.X.!!!

John Y

are they watching some different version? The version of ep 1 that I watched def showed Rudy's life in Japan a bit more.

Cephandrius

The world building in this series is truly top tier best part about it in my opinion. Also I'm pretty sure the reason it became known as "the grandfather of isekai" is because it set in stone a lot of the tropes, like the truck, the neet virgin mc, traditional swords and magic etc. Not because it was the first

L.C.
>>56157611

I am mainly just talking about the underage stuff that slightly goes on even though it never really actually goes anywhere it is still something that occurs in this first season.

C J

you guys are gonna love this one of my favs

PromNightFetus
>>56158061

Is it though? I mean the original internet novel only came out in 2012. Isekai itself has been a thing since the 80s lol. Even a lot of early popular anime like Inuyasha and Yu Yu Hakusho are isekais. Even RPG/Video game "isekais" SAO and .Hack came out before. Never understood the argument of Mushoku being the "father" of anything. /shrug. edit: Of course that doesn't mean I don't absolutely love Mushoku Tensei though (more than most isekais).

Antonio Bacon

Man I hate this show but let's go

PromNightFetus
>>56157569

Bruh Digimon, didn't even think about it but yeah def isekai. I was thinking things like Yu Yu Hakusho as well.

Ads

In case it didn't click, rudy said he couldn't trust the book since he was able to develop his magic shooting all those water balls, whereas the book said magical ability was predetermined at birth. The information was wrong.

TheToweringOtakunt
>>56157614

Okay. While I appreciate your hair-splitting insight into the industry, it doesn't really change the fact that they're skipping a broadcasting quarter before they air the rest of the episodes they have planned in the season, so... I return to my point: Take your time, there's only 11 episodes and that's not changing until July.

L.C.
>>56160292

Fuck off then. It is an amazing series. Why are you here if you hate it.....

no. 21’s no. 1 simp
>>56160292

my only problem with it is the mc's weird ass past life. I sympathize with the evil ass redo protag more than this man past life.

L.C.
>>56158061

More accurate to call it the godfather of isekai with how well it does with the isekai tropes and how amazing the series is. From what I know it was more so a series that gave inspiration for many isekai that come after this.

Antonio Bacon
>>56160292

Just isekai fatigue really there's just so many that its starting feel like self insertion fanfiction. And this the "twist" this time is that the main character is super creepy *won't be specific for spoilers* but yea the world is dope and the other characters are cool but the MC kills it for me.

TheToweringOtakunt
>>56157569

You could probably add El-Hazard, Fushigi-Yugi, InuYasha which were all from the '90s. I'd say films like Spirited Away also count, really. I really like Mushoku Tensei, but I don't really know where the idea it was somehow breaking ground on this genre comes from. Maybe the term? But I don't even think that's true.

danny

YYYYYYYEEEEEESSSSSS ive been hype since last monday when you said its gonna drop

Antonio Bacon
>>56160292

Also to the angry person with the fake name although im not a fan of this particular series yoshi and the crew are dope content creators so I'm always down to watch their content.

L.C.
>>56160292

While he was weird and fucked up in his past life the whole point of his life was that because of who he was and what he looked like he got shit for it and constantly got harassed in his past life. You clearly do not understand why he was that way in his past life and the whole purpose of why his reincarnation is so great for him is so he can change as a person. He literally states exactly that in this first episode. I like redo of healer as well. I am quite a degenerate and watch some hentai here and there but I sympathize way fucking more with this MC because it is more relatable struggles than redo of healer where he got butt fucked and raped constantly and got put on hardcore drugs and physically and mentally abused. Redo of healer doesn't demonstrate the more normal struggles in life with the society we live in today while mushoku actually does.

Frenzy X

really good show

Kdawg 226

Shira Keep that same energy

Marcus Martindale

I forgot how similar some of the things are in the beginning are to Beginning after the End

Antonio Bacon
>>56160292

.....cool you self identifying as degenerate while simultaneously defending a hypothetical pedophile and finding him relatable tells me we're not gonna see eye to eye in this. You have a good day

MakAttack G
>>56161798

The Beginning After the End takes a huge amount of inspiration from Mushoku Tensei

Alex cleveland

BTW this anime is supposed to be very long so yeh. Each chapter is like 30-40 pages long which can be a lot of content for one ep. Also there's like 200 some chapters so this anime can go on for like 100 plus some eps!!!🔥💙 Like MHA in a way.

Erd'na
>>56163221

It's gonna be long because the story is actually is finished. As story is about Rudy whole life.

Erd'na
>>56157569

I did mention those anime in a different comment. I just literally use these two anime as example because they wouldn't at first thought be recognize as isekai. Just to prove a point that isekai have existed longer than what people think.

Settsu

He becomes less of a creep i think as it goes on so if you guys worrying about stuff!!

Outcast107

Oh yeah, Rudy is major scum at the start. Though this part of the story is him learning about his mistakes. its so good and I can't wait for it to be picked back up in July.

Tev Overhaul
>>56157614

Ahh I see where u coming from but the same thing happen with re:zero they caught from season 1 to season 2 part 1 on binge and there was a 2 month gap before part 2 and they watch it weekly

Devin B
>>56157611

No lie though the underage stuff did creep me out at first but like you said the fact it never went past a certain point made it somewhat tolerable and they do tone it down as it goes on. If you just focus on the story then it should be ok.

Viela Guay

Something you missed is that he straight up said that the book of magic was lying regarding magical limits. He did the science himself and discovered that he could increase his limits via months of experimentation.

BERMY
>>56160292

Holy FUCK are you going to cry? jesus you just spent your time writing paragraphs about a show you dont care about / like .

G. B.

A major theme of this story is that rudy was a terrible person in his past life. While alot of that was due to his life circumstances, he was a major perv and a jobless antisocial bum. Unlike many other shows like shield hero or even SAO rudy doesnt just become a cool guy once hes reborn, but instead has to work for it. This is a major point you guys will see since he gets even more pervy, but its nice seeing his realistic transformation over time.

Goolion

Haven't watched the entire reaction yet so sorry in advance if you knew but this anime was really anticipated because it's basically the original isekai anime (think re zero or konosuba where a guy is teleported to another world). Even though those examples are some of the better isekai, the genre is absolutely flooded with trash isekai anime with a generic overpowered protag etc. Jobless reincarnation basically created alot of the tropes we see in most modern isekai, that said it does them REALLY fucking well. Buckle up this one's a ride. Also, remember that original rudy is NOT a good person. He's kinda intentionally shitty. It kinda helps contextualize some stuff about his character later

Thamor
>>56161798

Start is similar, but family is more whole in Beginning After the End. But it's not full copy of Mushok as it's more Wuxia novel in the end than japanese isekai story.

Andre3k

Here we go, the pedophile's journey, I dropped this after episode 7 or 8 lol

Skebaba
>>56163221

Wait I thought the LN still had like 1 volume left or w/e (obv WN finished already), tho?

mahfuz ahmad

lets goooo they finally watching one of the best anime to ever come out

Elijah Webb

Mushoku tensei is one of those animes where they develop the characters the more it go's on the more The story gets better just keep in mine the characters is already a pervert with growing up again feeling so your gonna say alot of "YEAHS" but after a certain point I really loved this show and wondered how the story will turn out.

HollowedSlayer
>>56173420

The focus on character building is what I'm enjoying the most. Cannot wait for the crew's reactions to some of the action sequences, particularly Episode 5.

King DDD
>>56160292

Yikes bro, it's a fictional character on a fictional show does it really matter? It hurt no one in the process

Antonio Bacon
>>56160292

I mean if we're taking it to that point then there's no point in discussing anything about any anime it's all fictional. I just think it's weird how heavily offended yall were by my initial comment. Came at me like "shame the non believer, SHAME"

Matthew Osteen

another reincarnation anime. I wanted kemono jihen lol

Andre3k
>>56172250

Regardless of "character" development, trying to rape a little kid is indefensible – when I saw the 40 year old man making moves on a 12 year old I was out.

Andre3k
>>56160292

Antonio, they know deep down they're riding hard for a pedophile, but they try to rationalize it. That's why they're so hurt, and lash out when someone calls them out on it. Some things are just irredeemable, child molestation is one of them.

Jay rellim

does the audio seem off to yall (for roshi and them, not the anime)?

toptier sagat
>>56168396

I don't see where he's a bad person? The damn near pedo shit, sure, but he wasn't a criminal or something.

I love this show! Can't wait for it to come back around July for Season 2!

Harrison Crandall
>>56172250

SPOILER ALERTSPOILERALERT_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ the dude end up saving someone else at the sacrifice of his own life at the very beginning of the show. this is an undeniably noble act. yet this happened despite the fact he was a terrible person. he was a bad guy yet he did a good thing. He's not the greatest guy in the world and he was given another opportunity at life. He acted that way in his past life because he was hurt in some way and unable to heal. he was a fat unhealthy lolicon manchild that didn't work or leave his room. this is the story of rudeus grayrat! regardless of whats going on mentally in his head he is still like actually for real a child and still has the mental capacity of one. he only has the memories from his past life nothing else in essence really rudeus grayrat is a brand new person, his soul only looks like that because his hatred is seared into his soul. he hates himeself. this is a story of healing, badassery and how people CAN turn their life around. also I read the entirety of all the novels and side stories so this like isn't just like some dude yapping his maw, it's some book nerd online yapping his maw.

Andre3k
>>56172250

Nothing being projected @ Mad4life, the main character repeatedly mentions he is mid to late thirties, despite all that he goes after kids. I am just going off the facts provided to us as the viewers.

None None
>>56172250

The hell do you want him to do? Take his 6 year old body and go out fucking 30 year old women?

Andre3k
>>56172250

That's the logic I'm talking about, we acknowledge he is a a grown man mentally, because no 6-year old is trying to get cheeks. He should use his head to try, and get women of legal age like the maid – you know he's a sicko to go after little kids.

TimmSchmimm

HELL YEAH! That's what we've been waiting for.

Buzzlitebeer

you will see more of his life before death in later episodes

BERMY
>>56160292

Rudy has better character development than Subaru in my book. Carry on...

Halibel
>>56172250

I wish they would still finish this show its still worth the watch even though the pedophile stuff's a big turn off

LordTouchMe

YES! THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WANTING!!

TimmSchmimm
>>56172250

Lol that's an L for you if you drop the show for that reason. It legit shows how his childhood and basically entire life is the reason for his fucked up view on "women". This isolated nerd that never had a chance to get a girlfriend in his life or stimulate his sexual drive in any other way than masturbating or having fake relatioships in dating sims where all the girls are weird lolis and stuff. He isn't a pedophile as pedohpiles are solely attracted to kids and only for having and undeveloped body. He has like no border in that sense, he only sees the sexualized parts of women and doesn't really care about anything else. He got bullied for his weird looking dick and shut himself in and knew he would never find the courage to integrate himself in society again, he hates his own body that much, that throughout the show where he thought he will get sent back to the real world he got a panic attack and only cared about not getting back into his old body. He didn't say a word about losing his friends, family in the new world but only about how much he hates himself in his past life. This focus on his mental illness is done in a really mature and realistic way, it shows mental illness in a way too realistic way and u talking shit about this anime because it takes on a topic everyone else looks away from too is just dumb. I think this show is really brave for actually approaching this topic like this and behind the typicall anime pervert is a kinda sad reality of people in society that keep getting bullied harder and harder. Their fucked up view on certain things caused by a trauma is hardened and set in stone because everyone else in society just keeps pushing these people in a corner, the moment they seek help and try to speak up everybody keeps bashing them till they something like this.

Alex cleveland

Ima have a whole rant comment to end these dumbass comments on "this show is a pedophile adventure" or "the MC is gonna be a pedo and rapist for the rest of the show." Next reaction they do, ima end all yall dumbass ignorant thinkers of what some u yall alr thinking that the show will forever be a pedo journey. Like pls, really put on ur thinking cap!!!! Do u really think the character WONT develop throughout the show.... We all understand that the MC did some horrible shit, especially one particular scene... Ima save the fire for later if the comments still acting crazy the next several reactions from now😈👍🏽

Alex cleveland
>>56201300

I also hope that the ignoramuses who r saying this whole show in general is gonna have pedo vibes--makes the PPL WHO actually watch this show, who fucks with the show, and who likes Rudeus, be consider a weirdo in liking the show lol. Indirectly, some of yall r calling ppl weirdos for watching this show u guys r calling disgusting all around. Fuck outta here wit that shit.

Just like Sgt hatred from venture bros. Rudi is scummy at first, but its all about his journey, and how hard it is to progress from being a worthless person. Instead of the old instakirito

godUsoland

Been looking forward to this!!!! The journey of an unlikeable person to a Respectable Man. The "Godfather" of Isekai coming strong with a great First Season! It's been confirmed to become a long runner that adapts ALL of the novels.

@Andre3k and technically he ain't a pedo since hes in this new life, younger than her. Tho it don't matter. What he did that one particular scene gonna go. I totally agree on that shit.

Idrees Centauri

bro this show is so good without the creepy shit, if they just didnt add ecchi in the beginning it would have been perfect

MerkLJackson

Rudy's inner thoughts are voices by Sugita, who you may recognize as Joseph Joestar or Gin from Gintama. A great casting.

ShibaKun
>>56219295

yeah you will see more of him being "..." The author reminds us that not all MC are 100% good at heart. I like the story but oh boy he disgusted me at times but that's ok since it makes him realistic as a shut in.

ShibaKun
>>56201300

he will get what he deserved eventually but promoting pedophile is still wrong and we know which episode will show you that. It doesn't matter if he is in a child form it is still fucked up man. Stop defending it.

DaeShawn

Rudy’s character development is some of the best part of this series but he will slowly start getting more serious as the show goes on🤝

ShibaKun
>>56168396

yup I was truly terrified of what his real nature is but then it is kinda fresh air for this type of MC really. We all know that he will get redemption at some point. Still I really hope that it doesn't get normalized.

Eke Nnanna

brace yourselves lol 😬

HollowedSlayer
>>56172250

I see what you're saying and agree with you, the scene with Eris was super cringy and creepy. I'm confused with the logic that he's a pedophile though. He's literally a 10 year old boy. If you had the same thing happen to you, 35 year old self got reborn and then at your physical age of 15 you started dating a girl who is also 15. Are you a pedophile for making out with her since your mental age is 35+?

Moon
>>56205159

Bruh this is not the godfather of all isekai Stop spreading misinformation

Moon

Sad seeing everyone defend a pedo smh

godUsoland
>>56205159

while it is not the first isekai, it is the inspiration for alot of the tropes that almost all modern isekai's follow. It was the first to use the whole "Truck-kun" means of reincarnation, among other things.

KB
>>56172250

IDC how old I am physically, If I have my same mental age I'm not going to be attracted to, and pursue a relationship with someone I know is underage. If you do, you still count as a pedophile, as the biggest problem with pedophiles is moreso the mental aspect anyways. Grooming is probably the most destructive part of relations between older people and minors, and **Small spoiler for like episode 4** Rudeus basically hints that he's planning on grooming one of the girls.

Jose silva

Glad you watching this

Jose silva
>>56172250

It might no have been explain all that well in the anime but the guy does have his old selfs memories but he still a new born person. And this is shows well with one example and that is in the very first episode when he said he sucked on his mothers boob but was not sexually aroused and that was because even though he had the memories of his previous self he is still a new baby in this world so his body isn’t attracted to her. That’s why his kid self might be attracted to this girls his age in this new life. Although I do agree he needed to stop himself from doing anything even if his new self liked the girls that were his age he still knew they were really young. And that’s why I was glad he got his ass kicked by her. And yes everyone agree that this scenes were hard to watch but like this other guy said, glad it was done to show how f up his personality was in his previous life.

Ben2730

Can we get 2 episodes a 3 would be a blessing since the first part has already ended :(

toptier sagat
>>56168396

They aren't really defending pedophilia, he's complaining about the people saying that this show is "A pedophile's adventure" without thinking that the MC will obviously get character development and change for the better.

Adam Murphy

such a good anime u guys are gonna love it, oh and the anime for the fight scenes.... mwaa chefs kiss

Fooni

This anime is legendary. Can't wait until you guys get further ahead. It already go greenlighted for a season 1 part 2 coming in July. The godfather of isekai.

Taylor Bergherr

glad you guys are reacting to this one, I was hoping for a reason to rewatch it

Vladitsvar

Please, please, remember always MC was trash. Don't try to empathize with him, don't think this is a kid show and don't think this guy is some cliché hero that would do everything right. I know you probably don't think of him like that from this chapt nor the next, but if you forget it, then you could even drop the series... The story overall is great, but MC has some issues, I hope you enjoy the series and not just the MC.

Bob

People defending Pedophilia.

Wild

I mean I still don’t understand why everyone is calling it pedophilia. Just because his mind is more advanced doesn’t mean his body is it would be pedophilia if HE were to date a mid 20s mid 30s while being a 5 fucking year old it’s like saying a kid that learned what porn was at the age of 10 is a pedophile because he’s trying to do what he saw on random people women and girls to be precise now that he is a pervert is because he was a virgin and he’s getting used to being himself in this world after the 5 first episodes he legit acts like a normal person or any other character in anime a little pervy but being serious about stuff

"it’s like saying a kid that learned what porn was at the age of 10 is a pedophile because he’s trying to do what he saw on random people women and girls" okay but what you're talking about is a 10 yo being a 10 yo. this is a whole grown ass man in a kid's body lol

>>56381249

Yes, biologically he's a kid but mentally he still retains his 40-year-old mind. So yeah it's weird af hahaha

>>56381249

It's a weird grey area but other than that, the show is great. If you don't like it then don't watch it lol.

I do not think biologically he should be aroused or have sexual urges at his age. Unless hormones do not determine sexual drive if he watched porn in his previous life.

Aight, I came to party, so lets get down to it. Potential Spoilers. This character IS, in FACT, a perv. I challenge any one of you to spend upwards of 20 years of your life as a figurative, and now literal, man-child, day in and day out jerking it to anime porn, which, btw, is almost universally made up of underaged characters, then get magically whisked to this fantasy world and not carry that baggage with you. That point might seem shallow, since the writer still wrote the character that way, but lets not cast aspersions and assume intentions. There are reasons characters like this exists, mainly because the writers like to make fun of, or in this case, realistically represent, the type of people that spend their lives hooked on anime even well into adulthood, still obsessed with characters and ideas that were, at one point, appropriate for them. In fact, there are lots of characters like this. Another that comes to mind is Araragi Koyomi from the Monogatari franchise. We call this trope the "Scumbag with a Heart of Gold" or "NEET" or "Hikkikomori" or any number of other things. It's very common. What should be understood about this show and characters like this is that, despite their tendencies, there are usually a few important factors at play with how they are written. A) They are generally admonished for their actions, usually with violence, B) they do what might be considered "good deeds" to counter-balance their negative tendencies, C) they almost never actually cross "the line" and most of the heinous stuff they do is played for comedy at their expense, and whether or not you find that brand of comedy funny is entirely up to you, and lastly D) There's often some form of provided contextual loophole in the situation which is, itself, poked fun at, a la the 9000 year old loli trope. This is just the reverse of that, and what I find funny if that if it were the 9000 year old loli trope, we'd be having the same discussion despite both technically being adults in that case. Personally, I like this character AND Araragi a whole heck of a lot because of the good things they do accomplish and the ways in which their better nature affords the people around them a lot of genuine emotional support. This character will steal a girls panties and literally attempts to sexually harass another underage girl later on by peeking under her dress while she sleeps.... which is immediately followed by him getting his ass kicked. The entire time the scene was happening I was thinking "oh jesus dude, stop. Control yourself, you pervert" and the appropriate comeuppance that ensued was enough for me to move past it. He then proceeded to teach her to read and write, perform magic, went out of his way to give her one of the best most memorable birthday experiences of her life, and proceeds to fight beside her and protect her from the dangers of the outside world for the remainder of the series. What I'm saying is, pervy jackass characters can be pretty fun. If nothing else, they're fun to discuss. They aren't "good people", and that's the point of writing them that way. NO ONE IS ADVOCATING FOR THEIR BEHAVIOR. No one is defending pedophiles, it's just fun to discuss a character's actions and thought processes. 'Tis a cartoon with a character performing some gross actions. We can discuss it to death, and it's pretty fun for me to do so, whether or not these characters are "good" or "bad", pedophiles" or not, and hell, maybe he is. Just bear a couple things in mind: it's a cartoon, no one is actually being harmed or threatened, and in any kind of real life context this sort of shit might have been okay a couple decades ago and might still be okay in certain countries, but for the most part, no one is imagining this stuff is anywhere close to acceptable behavior. That's my 2 cents. Been having this discussion since 2012, and I'm starting to see a lot of the same old talking points, so you're either gonna live and let live, or just enjoy the show with us. It's up to you. Either way, it wont affect anything and that's exactly how it should be.

Cannt you just watch the show without questioning it? It has to be controversial every time an Anime has “red flags”? If it bothers you then do not watch it, it is not too obscene, it is funny and great to watch, are you a new generation? Are you under 25? Because Ranma 1/2 happosai will steal minor panties, but it was funny, nothing serious. You guys have to chill and just enjoy the little morbid in it you have inside once in a while. Lol

its just how people are and giving some information about the anime but they sometimes make it sound vague and therefor making the anime sound worst than it is. its true what rudy does on some of this first episodes its sometimes a bit disturbing even for myself rudy isnt a pedophile "yet" why do i say this because like i first wrote he is 5 years old yes id get the argument would be "but he has more experience because he has the mind of a mid 30s guy" and yeah to that i say "just because he watched hentai/porn isn't the same thing as real life and he begins to regret when he tries it what you guys gotta learn is that rudy although he has his old memories he is learning again just like a child and if you pay close attention you notice that he goes thru the process of growing up again and learning a lot quicker about life of course with his old memories comes traumas that he has to overcome

Wild
>>56381249

and that is basically the main point of mushoku tensei its just us going thru rudy's redemption arc watching him grow to become a better person

kolt

literally joined patreon for the reactions to this show tbh

Big Juls

Crinnit

This became one of my favorite animes, can't wait to see your reactions to the rest. It's very immersive, has a great story and animation.

JunpeiFES .

By the way, this is the first time i see an anime without an intro in every episode 😮 that is great i guess, more footage to watch 😬

Senjioh

Man I would not be stressed at all a second chance at life with all my memories I would take that deal even if I was not about to die.

BabyFoodChewer

I really like this anime its so underrated but I got the patreon as soon as I heard you guys started watching lol. 10/10 show for me minus the pedo stuff they insist on sprinkling in

It's not pedophilia but it's definitely still fucked. EDIT: It's something in between. But Japan will be Japan.

People who say stupid shit about Nobara and the girls in JJK are no better. She's a first year in highschool which is like 10th Grade.

Finally a reasonable comment and a fellow monogatari fan. Its hard to be able to discuss these kind of shows without someone just hating on the character for being morally questionable.

Kelsey Brown

A lot of these comments are trash and focusing on pedophilia for no reason. SPOILER ALERT... Roxy is like 45 years old. Here demon race lives for about 200 years and they're short. But even with that aside, do you all just want to watch a show where everything is sunshine and roses? The things that usually draw people into shows are usually relatable or things that people can actually picture happening. Especially in anime because we get so used to the common tropes that when a show has logical or understandable reactions in it, like this one, people are shocked and either react in the stupid way most of you are or actually step back and enjoy the refreshing show. I highly encourage any light novel readers to pick this one up. It's still ongoing and every single book has been amazing and filled with character development and amazing moments that make you think.

no one cares about your essay justifying the ad acting by many characters in this show. I think the bad acting will end up being the crux of rudy character development. so try hard not to 4d chess justify trash characters

Jacen Prichard
>>58741124

Rudy might not b the best at all rn but in the LN he is astronomicly better but it doesn't help tht hes super trash now and was growing up with a ultra trash dad atm

Astor Lefflinker

Here and Dr. Stone if Roshi is transported to another world he'd rather just die lol

>>58741124

I wanna see you write some fucking characters L Jeans, I bet YOU'RE the jobless bum that gets angry when his isekais don't follow the same cut and dry ass format. Your judgement must fucking suck if you think a show that develops its characters as well as this one is somehow subpar.

Man I just watched this entire series and could not stop, so of course I had to come back and watch these reactions.
