The Holy man has arrived!

I think that explosion was based off of a real life British sapping operation in World War I that involved attempting to dig underneath the German trench line and blow the entire thing up before advancing. It didn’t work very well but it was one of the largest non nuclear explosions in history. As for warcrimes, flame-throwers aren’t until after WW2, and shooting retreating soldiers is perfectly legal. As long as they still have their weapons a retreat is a tactical maneuver, not the same as a surrender. It’s only a war crime if you shoot them after they throw down their arms and stop moving.

Can't wait for the movie reaction

They were ordered to join the battlefield. Thats why she said there is no rest until we arrived at our home

Give the enemy an inch, and they’ll take a mile. Reason the empire likely decided to kill them all is because of this thinking process, I’d imagine

What helped them convince the enemy to continue attacking was false information, The Military leaked fake info that the war was going poorly and that they would need to pull back and regroup which Spy's relayed to the enemy, But that was all false and baited them into Pursuing. Thats why when the General gave his report to the Financial supporters they were so surprised by it

All mages prepare Bullets with magic, thats one reason why their guns are that good. Infusing bullets with spells that can then be activated while in combat saves "mana" Him being "blessed" by being X, surely makes them more powerfull than normal magic infused bullets.

Technically the whole flamethrower being a warcrime was only deemed as such after world war 2 cuz the us was just abusing the fuck out of them in the pacific theatre (could be wrong but I think I’m right) and the republic haven’t surrendered yet either so that technically still isn’t a warcrime so legally the Empire is chillin rn

TheToweringOTK

The enemy troops would have had to physically lay down their arms and clearly indicate their intention to surrender in order for it to really enter into war crimes territory, assuming war law is in this world what it is in ours, more or less. The chief document in effect would be the Hague Convention of 1907 and it doesn't recognize troops in a state of retreat as having surrendered. Retreat can be a tactical measure. The Geneva Convention of 1949 is a bit more broad, but it obviously wouldn't matter in 1924.

02 got the headquarters. 03 got a munitions depot. I mean, assuming we have all the information. I have a feeling the structure Tanya was at has more importance than it seems, though. It's strange it's the only one that wasn't a prime target.

TheToweringOTK

Flamethrower use in war is not a war crime. The Geneva Convention makes no mention of them. The most relevant restrictive document is the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (1980) which prohibits the use of incendiary weapons wherever civilians might fall victim to them. Even this treaty makes no specific mention of flamethrowers. However, the use of a flamethrower might be restricted if the object of its use was something along the lines of burning a bunch of combatants out of a structure also occupied by civilians. So long as you can guarantee civilians and non-combatants will not fall victim to the attack, a flamethrower is perfectly legal in war. Their use ended in most advanced militaries due to the significant risk they pose to the user and his comrades, not because they were explicitly banned. They may be horrifying, but they're not illegal.

So the first time that "preacher" ,I forgot that dudes name, the first time he shot a bullet at Tanya he wasn't bless by being x yet. He was merely praying to God right before engaging. It was only after that he was blessed by being x. And its not specified but I believe Tanya and her group were given orders to stop the retreat. They weren't trying to pick a fight it was just their orders

Koopa Boi

JUST LEAVE!! Had me dying. 🤣

Tamus Heath

You guys are gonna do the movie as well, right? This seems like a good point to ask for it since the movie's epic

Enkyri

You know, the whole concept of war crimes is interesting. They can only practically be implemented on the side that lost the war. I just smoked half the world & you're going to take me to court for my methods? Let me see it happen. Lol

Skebaba

It's not a war crime if you follow the Letter of the Law, tho

Skebaba

Our boi Americans using War Crime Guns (AKA Trench Guns), smh

Right. I don't even know if the conventions we're talking about here exist. It seems to be quite similar to the situation from WWI, but who knows if the Hague Conventions (or the Hague, for that matter) even exist here. Assuming they do, however, it's as I said.

I was about to write this too. Sure it may seem that war cost a lot. Which it does. Though if you know the right people and can make it last as long as you want. You can get fucking rich.
