Tbh I always find it so interesting in a.i series how okay the audience usually is with just straight up a slave class of sentient beings, and the human reaction always being "how dare you try to rise up against your masters." whenever they do any sort of rebellion. Like obviously not arguing that a roomba needs rights, but the a.i's of the level in this show are definitely something I'd consider pretty much as human as any rando (and before any creativity argument is made, how many truly creative endeavors does the average human actually do. I sure as hell know I haven't written a completely original song or anything like that)

There was an anime called Parasyte about how humans who voluntarily give up their seat as the dominate species are retards. At the end of the day, one side ultimately decides who lives and who dies, so the other side just has to pray the other doesn't feel like killing them today. Taking away your power to make these decisions because you feel sorry for a bunch of machines is just asking for them to exterminate you.

I feel like you forgot that AIs were originally designed to fulfill multiple functions, but were unable to fulfill more than one. Humanity didn't set out to enslave AIs (and as time went on, human/AI relations improved drastically). By the time of the war in the first timeline, humans have given AIs civil rights, recognized human/AI marriages, and began debates on whether AIs had a soul (and that's just the few examples we know about). If anything, Vivy is working to keep AIs as nothing more than service bots to prevent the war. Heck even in I, Robot (the collection of short stories by Isaac Asimov), Asimov's laws of robotics are never broken or worked around like in the movie. If you wanna talk about machines treated like slaves, Detroit: Become Human is probably the worst version of this story. It tries to tell an allegorical American slavery story, but throws nuance and subtlety out the window. When I find an AI takeover story, the thing that makes my eyes roll is when something like The Archive decides that humanity should go extinct because they can't evolve further, or have become dependent. In this sense, Vivy makes even less sense. If the Archive realized Vivy's plan and re-revised history to result in war regardless, then why couldn't the Archive have revised history to a more suitable future for humans and AIs? Sure, Vivy's mission was crude and would result in AIs being shafted, but if the Archive had the capability to shift the timeline back to something similar enough to the original timeline, why couldn't they have shifted it to something better?

Okay, remember when the scientists gave Vivy the "put your heart into your singing" task, just to see what would happen? They made it a point throughout the show that machines struggle if their mission includes bullshit that's difficult to define. Archive had a similar problem, where the retarded humans put "aid in humanity's evolution" in its mission, so it was kind of left to its own devices to figure out what counts as fulfilling its mission. So it kind of came to an impasse where it got stuck trying to decide whether "kill all humans and replace them with AI" or "continue helping the current humans" was what the wording wants it to do. So it did the most logical thing it could come up with and created a situation where either of those possibilities could happen, but Vivy would be forced to choose between them (since it decided Vivy was more qualified to make the choice because she "more human" than it). So for this to work, Archive NEEDED the timeline where humanity is about to be exterminated by AI, so that Vivy would have the chance to choose between the two futures. Archive did all this shit for 100 years just because it wanted a clear answer as to how to proceed with its mission.

There is a theory that Vivy and Matsumoto are dead and gone, and the end scene (in the white room) is like what happened with M in episode 5; a flash of an ideal future that never came to pass. Alternatively, that this is another revision to the timeline, to prevent the war from happening in the first place (hence her different hairstyle, butterfly effect)

Honestly, I really enjoyed the plot in those 11 episodes, and following the journey of the 86ers. I didn't care much for Lena till she showed up big near the end. I was more into it for watching who would live, and what they would experience.

86 and vivy are of comperable quality, but to my taste, vivy is superior by quite a bit. to your eternity had me going (very much like a pricess mononoke/spirited away feel) until the gugu arc, then it completely lost me(because of that stupid log). never watched odd taxi.

After months of wanting to watch this reaction, and finally being able to, I am glad that I was able to watch your reactions. Vivy was my favorite anime of that season and one of the best ones of the year in my opinion of course. The soundtrack was so amazing and the story was amazing as well. Tappe Nagatsuki I believe is who wrote this story, the author of rezero and of course he did because this was great as well. Anyways onto the next lol 6 months later!
