That last Aquaman scene threw us for a loop lol

Ik I am hella fucking late but you do realize he was bisexual in the comics lmaoo

Icallshotgun

this man really went " if i cant have my girl ill have you"

BoxHead

I would love to see a reaction of either [KEMONO JIHEN] and [86 EIGHTY - SIX] it would be fun 😁😁😁😁😁

Jazko

bE HoNesT is Talentless Nana on the list

eren1320

when you guys finish with young justice i would highly recommend the orginal justice league animated show young justice is good but justice league animated is on another level

eren1320

I remember when i first saw this episode had me confused for a week with that ending

Coco

Coco
>>65145212

Yo if they watched Justice League and Justice League Unlimited I'd be happy as fuck.

DemonTigermon

Nah Aqualad or Kaldur's Aqualad was created by the Young Justice creators. He was straight first ,and then later on for his first comic, he was also straight. But it got cancelled or some shit. It was when the second comic about him was released. That the second writer decided he should be gay instead.

Oui Oui

Keep watching the end credits

Michael Pamon

LMFAOOOO That wasn’t Garth that Kaldur was kissing. They reveal who he is in the next episode I think.

Jabrone Taylor

That’s not the one who took his girl the one who took his girl was ole boy who got hit with the arrows last episode this a different dude

Jose Ovalle

Kaldur:This man looking real submissive and breedable

Smash Bran'Discootch

I love that you can see the EXACT moment that Lupa-San regretted calling Harper "My Chemical Romance". Its the moment after you realize it's a domestic violence case and lupa puts his hands together and rests his face on them. Also I totally agree that the Kaldur thing came out of nowhere. I got no issues with the guy being who he is, live your truth homie. But like y'all said, it could have been done a bit more justice than slipping it in at the end of a montage out of nowhere.

bob

The pandering didn't stop with Halo not claiming to be male or female. The writers took the pandering to the next level with Kaldur confirming his new love interest.

Jabrone Taylor
>>65146200

Lmao facts he did but don’t worry everyone had the same reaction of the auqalad scene threw us off but so y’all know season 4 drops in October

Jazko

Shush now, don't get cancelled

kai

dawggg that shit caught me off guard the scream i just let out

Ranginald Vagel

+1 to Lupa for knowing about Metron's sick ass chair

Kollie123
>>65146472

Is it really pandering that the soul of a machine doesn’t subscribe to human gender norms?

Rosie
>>65144881

I'm pretty sure I saw Kemono Jihen on their list. Can't wait for that reaction.

Rosie
>>65146472

And is it really pandering for Kaldur when he was never confirmed straight from the beginning? Just because he had a female love interest before doesn't mean he can't be bisexual

Shahrul Nizam

Hey guys! just wanna give you some easter egg for this show! If you were to take the first initials from S3E01 to S3E26, it will spell out "Prepare The AntiLife Equation" hope you can check this out cause i find this cool!

King Uma is life

Honestly out of all the team members I would've put my money on either Kaldur or Bart being gay lol

Christian Blanks

Their lack of comic book knowledge makes this reaction series so much more amusing

Mikal Adkins

That ending threw me for a loop as well when I first watched it too mainly because they made it seem like Kaldur was going to get together with that girl.

Ranginald Vagel

Wait is this how Aquaman gets back at Garth? Date him and then leave him for the girl lmao

MisRule

Totally forgot bout him kissing that dude. Y’all reaction was hilarious.

MisRule
>>65146472

It’s 50-100 damn characters in this show, if none was lgbtq that would be some bs.

Yanpo
>>65145212

Honestly, they probably should've watched that before watching Young Justice. Young Justice may not be within the same canon storyline, but it builds on a lot of things you learn in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. I would rather they watch Harley Quinn show though.

MRBS

The absolute GENIUS of that Aquaman scene is that it's specifically designed to use and abuse a viewer's familiarity with the heteronormative lens to set it up and then effectively pull the rug from under you. So, for instance, Sheera. Immediately, simply because of male-female proximity, she assumes that the new meta-teen and Kaldur will get together *because* of the proximity. Because that's what we've been taught right? If a boy and a girl are close to each other in most entertainment (games, shows, movies, etc), then they MUST be an item or married or have a crush and want to jump each other's bones...right? Young Justice acknowledges this old and outdated expectation, leads on anyone that might still (even subconsciously) view things through that lens and effectively says "Nah, actually Kaldur is pansexual and has no interest in that girl. He's in a committed relationship right now, as it stands!" It's such a cheeky reveal and that's honestly why I love it so much. That and because it pissed off the homophobes that watch this show when it was airing. (Small point: Kaldur's new boyfriend isn't Garth, his best friend. It's actually a new-ish character named Wynn. He's been in the Young Justice franchise elsewhere (in the comics for the series, I believe), but this is his formal debut!)

Yanpo
>>65146472

Pandering to whom? I want to know who out there said, "I want to see Kaldur kiss a fish dude in a montage" As far as I know, no one specifically asked for that, but that shit happens all the time. Sometimes someone you knew suddenly turns up with a partner they've been seeing for a while. Sometimes someone you thought was straight or lgbt turns out not to be what you thought.

MRBS
>>65145364

He was never inherently straight in the first place lol

Yanpo

lmao Completely forgot about that Kaldur thing. I wish them the best

MRBS

One thing that's kind of lowkey in this episode and really a thing you have to hone in on (smaller, for now, than the child abuse stuff with Harper or the Violet giving Gabriel's family closure or, well, everything...) is how genuine Tara is when Violet runs off and how much she wants to set things right when she's gone. Tara, right now, might as well be on a balance beam, being pulled by two different sides. The side of her new family and the Outsiders/the Team or her side with the Light and Deathstroke. And if her genuine love for Violet and how she blows off Slade at the end of the episode is any indication, she might be moving more and more closer to the side of her family...

Taijen
>>65146472

Not really pandering because I think he was intended to be bisexual. His cannon counterpart (Jackson Hyde) was gay/bi I believe.

Jonathan Acosta
>>65147883

Garth is the Atlantian UN ambassador, he was in the last episode with Troia, Wonder Women’s sister. The guy who got shot with 2 arrows in the neck. This is someone who I honestly don’t know the name of

bob

This is CW level of pandering now.

Mithrell

You have no idea how wide my smirk was whenever they brought up Aquaman and the fish girl.

Illusary Illustrater

that wasnt the one who took aqualads girl he got shot with the arrow in episode 19 and yall laughed at his ass XD

Isaac

I FORGOT AQUALAD WAS BI LMFAO

Chris D. Jones
>>65151138

Did that happen b4 or after this show tho? I can’t remember what came first saw both around the same time

Denickart
>>65145212

Only problem with that is that JL expects you to have watched all the other DCAU shows(Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Batman Beyond, Static Shock) so they wouldn't get the full enjoyment.

MitensuraTensho
>>65150458

it's definitely not pandering you keep saying the same shit, if no one in this show wasn't lgbtq+ that would be completely unrealistic

LeFlaneur

I do not approuve of this, not because I’m against Aqualad having a boyfriend, but because he’s basically dating Lagoon. The guy is way too “rah rah Atlantis is the best the surface is trash” and he’s not even cute. And for the people who think Wyynde looks like Garth, how dare you?!

Ohais

I mean, I don't blame your surprise lmao. Like they gave no hints, never mentioned it, and out of nowhere THIS DUDE KISSES THE GUY THAT DATED HIS DEAD GIRLFRIEND LMAOO. And all in a weird montage

Devin B
>>65171904

If you look closely at the guy it's not the same guy who dated his girl, just a random dude. But yeah it was way too random for them to just surprise people during a whole montage.

Lola
>>65148251

They assume because they were hinting it (at least in the same way most shows and others media do)

ApplePieOG

Double the fish dick, I guess?

Krispin

Lol I remember the first time I saw that ending scene months ago. I really thought Tula's death made Kaldur and Garth closer in a way, but later episode helped me realize it wasn't the same guy Kaldur kissed. Also, Garth was shown twice this season so far as the Ambassador for Atlantis and is much thinner than Wynde. But, I mean DC could've given Wynde different colors....meh it's whatever

Nikolai Cannady

I'm pretty sure Kaldur is Pansexual this episode was heavy

Isaac
>>65155635

You know what, that makes sense. Being Atlantian kinda opens you up to ... other species in a sense. So yeah pansexual.

Josiah

the writers of this episode in the meeting said "what plot line should we focus on this episode" the producer: "yes" lmaoo

Brandon Gibbs

I still can't believe they made Kaldur a gaybo or bi-sexual whatever.

Cleven Anthony

Lmfao I was thrown for a loop cause I dead ass don’t remember that aquaman scene 😂😂

None None
>>65150458

I don't mind gay characters, but I really hate the Legend of Korra shit where they reveal a character is bi late in the series after they've only shown interest in the other sex. It always feels like cheap. If you're gonna make a bi character, establish it early instead of revealing it for shock value.

Josh ?

With Aqualad apparently in the comics he’s known for being gay so this isn’t too out of pocket and same thing with Harper Row

Mahmii
>>65147320

You ask them to check it out, but you've already given them the whole ass answer to what they should be looking out for

Quinton Campbell

yea aquaman threw alot of ppl for a loop lol

Alloway
>>65147369

At the beginning of episode 16, when Bart is setting up for the fair and greeting everyone, he kisses Ed on the cheek. It was at super speed though so it's kind of easy to overlook.

Nicholas

That wasn’t Garth. You all just seen Garth in the previous episode. How did you get them confused?

MRBS
>>65148251

It's both. They "hint" at it, but in a way that's is more like other media do - male/female proximity. The writing room takes advantage of the audience's perceived heteronormative way of looking about male/female relationships, plays into it from a base level and completely shatters that expectation.

Thomas_Stilinski

i feel like adding the source wall was more for people that have read the comics but thats just me lol

Txfo
>>65145212

I dont think so. I watch JL and JLU and had no problems following the story, even though I never watched Batman TAS or Superman TAS. Batman beyond is only referenced in like 1 or 2 episodes aswell.

MRBS
>>65188554

Yes, always. Kaldur as a character didn't exist before Young Justice. When they brought him into the comics, he started out gay.

CJ Dennis
>>65188554

Kaldur was made for this show, and then DC comics introduced a black aqualad named Jackson Hyde and he is the one who is gay. In fact I think it would have been interesting if Jackson Hyde was introduced in this show as the new aqualad.

CJ Dennis
>>65148251

To be fair, people assumed Kaldur would get with the girl because before he showed more interest in women then he did men. Usually when you have characters of a different sexuallity they have to tell or demonstrate that right off the back, not because of our "heteronormative lens", but because you can't always tell what sexuallity someone is by looking at them (Korra and Asami are another example of this). Yes I know these shows were on kid networks initially so they probably couldn't really show it, but there still could have been more subtle hints or something.

CJ Dennis
>>65145212

I think they can understand JL and JLU without seeing the rest of the DCAU, that's how it was form me growing up. It's kinda of like watching some of the marvel movies out of order. They're enjoying this show without knowing everything or every random character from the comics.

gaelthras
>>65203861

That because all male Atlanteans aside from OG aquaman and aqualad/Aquaman have the same chara-design xD

rickie woodson

them: he's going to end up with dolphin me: CLAP! he likes fish STICKS not fish thiccs lol

Tim Chaos

This episode seemed to be very family-themed (we even got a kryptobros moment), so it’s cool that they addressed the fact that not everyone has a loving family with that counseling subplot. Still, I will never not laugh at the chair dude’s introduction 😂Looking like the roadrunner

James Woodson III
>>65148251

Yeah I have to disagree about the “heteronormative lens” thing. Personally I would’ve preferred a build up or just a straight up introduction to Kaldur’s relationship with Wynn in an episode. The slideshow format of it just throws you off, especially if it seemed like they were hinting at that girl and him getting together at a future time.

Johnson951

Oh man I've waited so long to see this reaction. I also thought that was a weird place to put that.

CJ Dennis
>>65147369

I don't think Bart did that there. If Bart and Ed were really together I think they would have made that more blatant.

Weekly Flo

Being a black and pansexual man myself, I saw that aquaman scene and cried. I experienced representation and i couldn't be happier. I'm probably a minority in this, but it was a wonderful scene and I loved it.

Weekly Flo
>>65168181

Yeah, I think Wyynde at one point was on the side of Ocean master if i remember correctly. He's definitely a nationalist/populist. He even talks about how he hates being on the surface.

Weekly Flo
>>65146319

I agree. they do good by keeping him around for later, but to slide it in was not that great. I think the writers and creators talk about why. It's mostly a passion project where they want to do a lot with this show but have to squeeze so much in. That's why the 1st cour and 2nd cour feel way different AND that's why these last 6 episodes are gonna feel way different too

Weekly Flo
>>65146472

idk if youre gay or not, but please do not refer to people or characters that way. That's mad disrespectful, even if you claimed that word back.

Smash Bran'Discootch
>>65146319

@Weekly Flo true true. I've seen the full season and I totally see what you mean. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasnt this season funded through kickstarter after the series was canceled? I remember hearing that somewhere but never knew if it was true. I'd figured that that's the reason they had a lot more creative liberties and could tell stories with more mature themes. I could be totally wrong though.

Dude559

"hmm more representation...How do we do this? OH i know put an image of Aqualad in a montage"...I suppose it's nice that they've at the least showed it.

The Truth

When the writers become weak and feel like they need to put “representation” in their show. When are people going to remain strong and stable. Some people are loose and weak making them think they’re gay, leaving themselves open because they don’t have the strength to be unaffected by what’s around them, the strength to remain solid and in control of every feeling, following emotions put in them instead of their own.

The Truth

And everyone accepts it because y’all are weak, you put on a front, a false strength that are making these guys gay and effected by it, making them think they’re gay.

Derek Wheeler
>>66855949

How you mad at a boy kissing another boy? You sound jealous. You got a little fruity in the booty too?🤨

Tank
>>66855949

YEAHHHHHH??? $10 to be homophobic on Patreon comments?

Tank
>>66855617

Yeah?? How loose am I when I eat my boyfriend’s ass. Specifically

Tank
>>66855949

I’ll eat some shit in between eating my mans ass, just for you

Notnotblasian

Aquaman being bati boy was so confusing 😭

sharkatron3000

bro rlly said "bbc" and then said big black lightning

Davon Shine

Lol that guy wasn’t Gar lol

Wrëck

Yeaaaa askalad likes fishy peen?????

Joseph
>>65147369

Actually they couldn’t have made it more blatant since WB pushed against confirming Bart as lgbtq

ERRORCODE616

I'm all for representation (being a queer dude myself), but man was that a half-assed attempt. I'm not saying we needed a whole episode/arc focused on it, but at least give us some lead up like they've done for literally every other romance on the show. Build up some chemistry. And putting Calder with the dude who stole his girl in Season 1 is weeeeeeird.

ERRORCODE616
>>75758367

Whoops. I had totally forgotten what that dude's name was. To be fair, Wyynde looks like an older Garth in every aspect of his design. My point still stands that Wyynde is just some random shoehorned love interest. I'm all for a bi Aquaman, but it would've been kinda cool to see him meet and get to know Wyynde on screen.

Zachariah Wimberly

yeah but its important to remember that while aqualad being gay is great and cool i like that they didnt focus on it so much like other shows what them doing this the earn more respect from me theryr saying aqualad is not a hero because he gay hes a hero who just so happens to be gay it makes it look like a normale thing whitch is the goal right having a diferent sexuality IS suposed to be normal

Karma

Aww hell naw wtf lol

nathaniel dixon
>>66855617

dude aqualad is bisexual in the comics the show did NOT come up with that... ever heard the saying about assumptions?
