Here is my ranking from best to worst. 7,5,8,3,6,2,4,...............................................1. Four may be my second least favorite but I still enjoyed it and it was a decent part. I'm just not a fan of Slice of Life anime that often.

Then you got these guys acting hype cause they finally got into JJBA even though part 6 is gonna be mid or worse. Most things that are not revolutionary styles of writing are hype cause it's simple to follow and alot of people can get on board. AOT tends to somewhat be one of those exceptions in popularity. But shows like Jjk MHA etc are all basic ABC writing. Jojo can fall into that category but people respect it cause it has done a lot culturally. It's an acquired taste at the end of the day, if you can't accept that or it wakes you up sweating at night then I dunno what to tell you. If it ain't for you don't bother lmao

I'd argue that when Stands are introduced it gets a lot better, I watched through it all and never gave a shit about parts 1 and 2, part 3 was actually watchable, and I genuinely enjoyed parts 4 and 5.

MHA has superior writing to jojo. Foreshadowing, plot, character development, characters, VILLAINS, analogous of society, critique of what a hero society would look like, good animation, good pacing, good osts. Not my favorite but definitely better than Jotrash.

No. If someone was to say Code Geass, AOT, Monster, Lain and etc were trash they'd be wrong. These shows are held in high regard and have the numbers++substance+recognition to back it up. You can not like them but that doesn't make them trash. I was going to write an analysis but whatever.

Your comparison is not legit because most of the shows you mentioned are seinen (apart from AOT which is officially a shônen that uses seinen narratives), so obviously they would be recognized for their mature themes. Jojo on the other hand is a shônen that shaped many recurring tropes of nowadays' shônen mangas. You can dislike it for its silliness, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but your argumentation here is somehow fallacious.

I don't necessarily think it's that terrible, but I somehow share your sentiment about it being overhyped. When I was a teen, in the early 2000's, nobody read the Jojo manga, most black folks thought the characters looked "lame and gay af" and I was mostly alone and misunderstood on my Jojo journey. I remember the only scanlation team available for further chapters of the story was the Chinese team responsible for the terrible "Duwang" translation. Jojo remained in the shadow of the global public for years until David Production adapted its third season. That's when the hype started to get, and now you can see mainstream Rap videos exhibiting Jojo references all over it. I know most people don't read comics and mangas, so it's only normal that stories get popular once it hits the big or little screen, the same thing happened with Dragon Ball, Demon Slayer or even Invincible last year, but I can't shake the feeling that most people who jump on the bandwagon are just late opportunists, and might have been the same people who thought the characters looked "gay af" just 20 years ago.

@Dider to be honest Anime has come a long way. Alot of those Opportunists you are referring to are everywhere you go and for most mediums. Mediums and Genres become more popular so will the the shows and content that come with it. Ie invincible most certainly thrived do the the boom in super hero content which also was looked down upon for a long time. The way I look at it is to embrace the recognition it gets, I'd personally be happier with people enjoying Jojo than constantly saying it's "gay af" regardless of the opportunists because at the end of the day this stuff can't be made or promoted without a backing behind it.

You're right, the seinen or shônen classifications actually do not exactly apply to half the works you cited. And you can compare Jojo to previous shônen mangas that were made prior to it, like Hokutô no Ken, which happened to be less eccentric or flamboyant. So the reason of your distaste for Jojo is not related to its genre but to the inherent qualities of it. My bad. I still think the comparison you made with the other titles you cited is a little off.
