loving all the Vandal Savage backstory!

Comments

mitch anderson

Gotta say, I love the story telling this season

jesse almonte

Child sounds ALOT like Klarion. They have an eerily similar tone

shaheed patterson

That same dam bus driver from season 1 and 2 and evry other time

Michael Pamon

Did you guys catch how Klarion referenced the multiverse? Also, it’s pretty much safe to assume that every single human being on earth can trace their ancestry back to Vandal Savage lmaoooo

CJ Dennis

12:46 I think that's supposed to be the phenoix gate from Gargoyles which was made by Greg Wisemen the co-creator of this show and there might be some other Easter eggs in there. Also, I saw that this episode was written by Kevin Grevioux the voice of Black Beetle and writer of some of the Underworld films. Nice to see all that 👌😎.

Jose Ovalle

Did yall miss that fate called savage father? In season 2 and now its been shown but you guys missed both time.

kai

they probably forgot bc that was a while ago when they said Nabu was Vandals son

LA

Vandal also called him son in this episode

Spawn_tiger

There about to bring in the justice league DARK

David

Im thinking more Sentinels of Magic. They even hinted at that by having Zatanna call them that in the previous episode.

Father Feugo

Y’all have to watch the flashpoint dc films man 😭

Isaac Tsumetsuki

Zatana: We need more help. Me: Constantine Constantine pleeeeeease gimme Constantine

LeFlaneur

Honestly this could be an 8 episode arc if it’s not going to play into the overarching season storyline. The threat is just too big.

Totally Thomas

Vandal Savage has made Earth-16 in Young Justice one of the best Universes!

LeFlaneur

The show does have a power scaling issue. It’s something that’s also very noticeable in the MCU, but some of it has to do with it being live action and long running. Feels like a DC animated series should have an easier time handling this.

Url Robbo

Btw yall that's the same bus driver and kids since the show premiered. I think it was just a gag but it's been twice in a row so I'm not sure now..

rickie woodson

time to watch some justice league dark films it seems

Anderson Lake(The Bleach)

Etrigan could have had a better showing but to be fair he was against a lord of chaos backed by all the other chaos lords and that chaos lords anchor that also took a hit from Klarion no problem.

David

After Young Justice goes on break. You guys should check out Justice League /Justice League Unlimited. A great DC animated show.

Deon Watson

He doesn't but when one of his daughter that was telling his story in a flashback they show vandle and his son and daughter

Amzee

Yo guys i don't know if you noticed but Naboo is Vandal's son. He was seen the season 3 vandal episode in a flashback. Maybe the helmet of fate is made of the crown Arion had since it was a 'gift' from the lords of order. Maybe after Arion's death, Vandal found the crown and gave it to another one of his sons.

Kami_Psy

lmaooo yall had me dying with the magic school bus

Yanpo

To be fair to Etrigan, he was up against all the Chaos Lords combined minus 1. I'm pretty sure the anchor here was also heavily empowered.

Jason Williams

I absolutely geeked out seeing the Phoenix Gate, Grimorum Arcanorum, and Eye of Odin from Gargoyles make cameos in this episode (AKA "The Three Keys to Power"). Of course showrunner Greg Weisman has been throwing in these kind of references for YJ's whole run since he also created Gargoyles, but this was the most blatant and obvious one yet. I loved it

Jason Williams

Yes! and hopefully voiced by Matt Ryan. He IS Constantine to me at this point. Kills it in every incarnation

Jason Williams

Yep, that definitely was the Phoenix Gate. The Grimorum Arcanorum and Eye of Odin from Gargoyles were there too. Such an awesome reference

Ranginald Vagel

I feel like I haven’t heard Dick called Richard in years, I honestly didn’t realize who J’onn was mentioning for a second

Big Daddy Dre

Still mad they made hulk look like a bitch in the mcu when this man can literally destroy the universe with a clap 🙄

Ranginald Vagel

Vandal’s immortal and he couldn’t figure out a non-catastrophic way to get a bunch of people water ready? I’m 100% sure he could have figured something out with 400 years of hard work but noooo gotta take the easy way smdh

Dylan Williams

Ah I was so hype seeing those. Etrigan climbing up the side of that rock tsunami made me think of Goliath, too.

Tank

How you 100% sure he could do something he couldn’t?

Denickart

Yeah but if they start at Justice League they'll be confused when they start bringing up plot points from the Superman Animated series.

Nardoc

I dont get how Vandall keeps coming back to life when killed and yet his grandson dies from a statue... It says the first one born from his line who is immortal like him and yet...

David

But it's less of a commitment, though. They might not be willing to go through the DCAU from the beginning. That would mean BTAS, Superman: TAS then Justice League.

Eronthaboy

Until last episode I thought my man’s and any kids on his bus were just unlucky, but after seeing them driving in the middle of the night AND flying through space I know that ain’t no human bus. Also I’m not sure but I think it’s the same group of kids every time too

Bully Finch

I think the point is to activate fight or flight in the meta sapiens to agitate the metagene. If he asked them to commit a mass drowning it probably would have the same effect.

Bully Finch

Either he was an immortal without regenerative capabilities or Arions consciousness fused with the crown creating the helmet of fate and became Nabu. I only said the latter because Vandal called fate son and he responded with "Father".

Christine L.

That school bus has been shown in all 4 seasons. It's the same bus driver and and the kids never age.

Simbaa

Zatanna getting knocked tf out by that pebble was so outta pocket by the writers 😂😂 , they did my girl so dirty

Krispin

I hope they make Zatanna pop off a little this season lol, they clap my girl twice so far 😭 Also, that chaos lord definitely did something to mess up the world when she popped in #schoolbus I hope they make Fate choose another host body, one that isn’t related to Zatara lol.

LeFlaneur

They’re obviously setting up a Magic School Bus crossover. I could see Miss Frizzle as this season BIG BAD.

Matthew Osteen

That school bus has to have something to do with the Legion of Superheroes. Like why would a bus be in space? Its gotta be some kind of cloaking ship or something.

Justin54

it had to be catastrophic, he was trying to activate their meta-gene

Mozart Waddell

DC did Etrigan dirty but let's be real Etrigan ain't really shit because he's getting clapped up by both Trigon and Lucifer Morningstar easily. Who I really want to see is the Spectre or Michael. Those guys are actual problems.

King Uma is life

The fact that Phantom Stranger is here means we have to see Spectre since they were both big parts of each others stories in some newer comics. God I hope Spectre has been my favorite for years.

Isaac

I love Vandal's entire character a lot. He comes off as a super villain, but really he's a man who makes hard decisions for sake of Earth's evolution and has to do this balancing act with the villains by moderating the most influential of villains so things don't go out of hand and end in a nuclear apocalypse because that's the last thing he'll ever want. He will invest lives to better the Earth in some form because the universe is harsh and Earth needs to be in tip top shape. It's an extreme gamble that only he can see the profits of because he'll always live the years to see the results. All lives are precious and he'll gamble those precious lives for a potentially better reward no matter how long it takes--give or a take a few fuck ups here and there and he's always open minded when it comes to fuck ups because being alive for billions of years, he's experienced it all and knows what fuck ups are recoverable and what fuck ups he needs to mitigate if it's unavoidable. I remember one episode of Justice League were Superman was sent millions of years into the future. Earth died. Humans went extinct with only one survivor, that being Savage and he was heart broken and lonely that he failed the Earth ( I forget exactly what caused the extinction ).

Mozart Waddell

Exactly King Uma I'm waiting patiently for it. I know the arcs are 4 episodes so I hope we see him next episode.

Isaac

Dang you missed the point entirely. This goes in hand with "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." And naturally, extreme trauma and life threatening events forces an evolution to spark. Darwinism took effect on those that survived. Also let's remember Vandal is a thing called a "human being" who is prone to making mistakes. Yeah he's immortal, but I'm pretty sure that was the first time he employed an agent of chaos to do something massive. Mistakes happen and he's no exception. He's lucky it still worked in his favor.

Isaac

Yeah, he's planted his seed all over the Earth for million/billion years. That man got biiizzaaaayyy.

Isaac

Yeah I blame power scaling in animated series. They almost always make people look stupidly weak sometimes. Like damn, did Zatanna need to be clapped like that so fast and so sudden and BY ACCIDENT? Dude popped out of the ground and didn't even notice.

Dude559

Etrigan kinda gets the shitstick ALL the time. I am actually pleasantly surprised they even concidered Etrigan powerfull enough to face against a lord of chaos.

MetsuMonsta

Not tryna rain on your theory or anything but hasn’t Nabu been around as a lord of order since like the dawn of time? How could he just be created from an immortal and an artifact smashed together? He’s also a god. His power just resides in the helmet. Idk your theory sounds very close to what may have happened but somethings missing that we don’t know about. I think Vandal may have just used Fate as a medium to communicate with his actual son on another plane of existence. His body probably wasn’t immortal but his spirit/soul is maybe?

MetsuMonsta

Yo that’s kinda insulting bro. I get it, we know there’s bigger and stronger threats out there but that’s no reason to be a dick about Etrigan. DC hoed him just like they do every time they need him/animate him unless it’s in one of their animated films and even then he’s so powerful he barely gets used for jokes. I agree I wanna see more characters from the darker side of dc too but don’t act like Lupa wasn’t telling the truth when he said that man was a problem

Mozart Waddell

@MetsuMonsta I get I shouldn't have invalidated Lupa like that but Etrigan in my personal opinion isn't worth the merit he receives. I read a lot of the comics and I haven't been impressed with him. He impressed me in Justice League Dark I'll give him that. I've just never been a fan of this character. Sorry wasn't my intention to be a toxic member of the fandom.

DBG

are you guys ever gonna get to watching hawkeye

Earphone Jack

That damn bus is the Magic School Bus! If I see it again next episode I will laugh so hard!

Reckless Company

now it makes sense why doctor fate is a asshole sometimes thats crazy

Dylan Williams

I think it's intentional. At least back in Season 1 the writers said they pulled back Superman's speed so that he was still fast, but not Flash level fast. So that Wally was still the fastest on the team and Superboy was still the strongest, but non-metas like Dick and Artemis could still feel useful. I personally like the choice, otherwise we end up stuff like the Justice League movie where once Superman joins the fight... you really don't need the rest of the league and that just kind of make for bad storytelling. Then again I'm a huge Nightwing fan, so my perspective might be a little biased.

Kevin

Love this episode because it expands the power scaling and introduces my high level beings. Constantine, other demons from hell, etc are all in play now But also perfect time for you guys to watch justice league dark and justice league Apokolips war

Zonalsteve

did they drop ass class?

rickie woodson

its irksome this show is pronouncing Arion's name as aryan. like what the fuck? and he's a great character. read his book! he is actually an ancestor of aquaman in the comics NOT a descendant of savage

Ohais

Yooo, I'm loving this season so far. Although, I do wish that we had gotten to see a bit more of Etrigan's strength, and his rhyming speech. Hopefully we get constantine soon. One of the best characters in all dc

King Abydos

hes a ancestor of Aquaman in this show too, since he is the progenitor of all Atlanteans

A.Smith

If you watch justice league dark movie you can see a lot more of etrigan but there's a few more movies before that leads up to it

A.Smith

There's at least 8 D.C. animated movies that connect and there really good start from Flashpoint and up until justice league dark apocalypse you wont be disappointed

MetsuMonsta

Nah bro it’s cool. You weren’t being toxic but just belittling the importance of the character in this scenario, especially for people who aren’t DC fans and don’t even realize the magnitude of the situation that they had to go get Etrigan in the first place. Like you said there’s worse guys out there but I guess for those who don’t know, Etrigan should be like the entry level of “when magic events go bad” lol. Wasn’t trying to attack you or nothing

Yahroh

Supposedly Vandal isnt this epic in the comics but YJ is my favorite version of alot of these characters

CJ Dennis

Maybe it's because chaos is reigning on earth things are all out of whack.

CJ Dennis

Yep I saw those too I didn't know how to spell the book name, and I forgot about the eye of Odin lol.

CJ Dennis

Every single meta human is more than most likely related to Vandal.

Yahroh

That nigga lowkey stole the magic school bus

CJ Dennis

Everyone is recommending dc shows and films so I'll do it too. I understand y'all watch a lot of stuff and that's alright, Batman: Under the red hood is sitting there waiting for y'all. I would personally recommend Superman vs the Elite. Ya'll might like Flashpoint Paradox, and there is so much more. In terms of shows: Justice League and Justice League unlimited is calling your name, and Roshi said he saw Teen Titians a long time ago, perhaps now is the time to revisit and ya'll could be in good competition with Blind Wave. That is all lol 😎

Henry Temaj

It's sick how Vandal said to Klarion that if he'd continue fighting the Team he'd lose control and bring the chaos shown as he did on Atlantis.

LeFlaneur

I understand. Physical powers tend to not be my favorite power type exactly because they quickly bring issues in scaling and consistency.

che n straker

I hope they realize dr. fate is vandals son

Christina

I scroll up from ep 9 and immediately see your spoiler, so thanks for that

Kalf97

that was shown in season three when they talk about Babylon with vandal, Ishtar and nabu

che n straker

This was definitely previous information.

Isaac

Christina, I guess it's a spoiler if you like y'anno ... flat out forgot they said this in a previous season so whoooooooooooops.

Mal

@Christina you should filter by the show you want to watch then order by oldest video first. that's how I avoid spoilers on Patreon.

Kenneth O'Connor

Woooooow can’t believe I missed dr fate calling vandel “father” that’s interesting!

Justin Neason

Surprised Lupa wants Keanu Constantine back tbh! It was an interesting version but also nothing like the comic character

delete

this show is so good

Candy

Me watching video and finding out fate is savage son someone explain cuz I think I missed a few details?

CJ Dennis

They showed that in episode 7 of the last season that Nabu was Vandal's son.

Jaelyn Mcgee

I second flashpoint paradox. it's one of my favorite dc animated films and despite how dark it is, I love the action scenes

CJ Dennis

They said Arion was immortal like Vandal but I gusse he didn't inherit his ability to not die?

Brandon Gonzales

The ending scene or close to the ending when Child opened up the ground and made it look like a jaw it reminds me so so much of the 8 or 7 Kenpachi Bankai and who ever reads the novel’s as myself then y’all should know who I’m talking about

Tijay Carroll

immortailty basicly means u can live naturaly forever but outside forces can still kill u. Savage is special is ability goes beyond immortailty

CJ Dennis

I gusse, but generally in fiction immortality means you can live forever cause you can't die.

Devon Joseph

Not necessarily here is a good rule of thumb for the types of "immortalilty" ageless (false immortality): the only difference between you and the average mortal is lifespan. You do not age. invincibility: you cannot be killed by physical means. (you still age like normal) psuedo-immortality: you have regenerative abilities so powerful that you can regenerate from a single cell. As a result you do not appear to age, and very few things can kill you. However, if you are utterly destroyed without even a cell remaining, then you are dead permanently. Even regenation has its limits. you are at extreme risk for cancer, because genetic instabilities/mutation can occur during regeneration. true immortality: nothing can kill you. you are both ageless and invincible. You are immune to all diseases, your body is indestructible, and overall you have no weakness. your body is a fixed existence, and is not subject to the laws of nature. basically, you are a god, even if you have no powers (you would just be a powerless god).

Mohamed Aden

the title spelled backwards is rise demon lol
