What a fantastic movie! Caught us off guard!

Comments

Ice

This movie really gets ruined once you realize that human beings use calendars. It's really bad on rewatch...

earthphoenix7068
>>74144559

He didn’t know that. His reason was just because he wanted to say it. He forgot about the disappearing stuff.

シュモーク
>>109142965

What earthphoenix said, they are dreaming. It's incredibly difficult to remember the details of dreams, especially a few minutes after you wake up. So it's entirely plausible that they could realize their dreams are staying linear and they are living a different life, but can't remember small things like what date it was in the dream.

Ice
>>109142965

Whether they remember or not is irrelevant. As soon as they notice, they'd freak out and ask about it in the app they use. They don't need to remember it after waking up.

You need to watch "maquia" next and anyone who hasn't seen it needs to watch it. It's the most beautiful story I've ever seen. You can rent it on YouTube for like $3

Ashley Nkanga

You guys should react to wolf children

Anonymous

Wiggly Gecko

Hey there awesome reaction. It would be rly nice if you could check out the anime Ranking of Kings. Its airing this season and its rly unique and the animation is stunning. No anime reactor is watching the show right now even tought its rly good. Its propably my anime of the year and I know that many other people would love it if they would know that it exist. I hope you have a great week and stay healthy! :D

Alex

Haven't even watched the reaction yet and I'm crying. 😭😭😭😭

Halibel

roshi is so fast to analyze things lmao the next part is set in the same universe of this movie it's titled weathering with you if you like this please watch it the animation is orgasmic.

jay holds

🤣 Niggas funny

Jonatan Tercero
>>74137831

Ewwww… that’s mid asf bruh lol. It’s sooo generic. With an OP OP OP ass MC. Talkin bout Misfit. I don’t know about accel world

Peacefinder Simply
>>74137831

Some people like the OP part, i tend to look for animes like that, so fun for me, accel world was kind of bad to me.

Danny
>>74138102

yeah i wouldnt call it a part 2 but i get what u mean. hes just tryna say the show takes place in the same universe and after these guys are adults

Vincent S Deluca
>>74138102

There is no part 2 lol Weathering with you is a completely separate film lol, It has some connections but not direct ones or anything

Halibel
>>74138102

whatever don said my bad it's such a good movie I hope they react to it.

Jonatan Tercero
>>74137724

The only one who looks like a 🤡 is you lol. I think Your Name is overrated asf , idc doe cause I’ll just watch them react to shows I like , like 86 and Ass Class

ednapls

Love this movie. Probably my top 3 anime movies. Btw is Toradora delayed a week or

Anonymous

when yawl get enough time there is an anime Japan 2020 on Netflix that's pretty dope!!

Thamor

@Roshi Sheera would love "Maquia when the promised flower blooms" and you will like it too. Very good anime movie that isn't known that much.

Halibel
>>74139173

I heard from joey its a really good anime and its very beautiful I need to watch it

wavyesper

random but LETS GET IT XD

Sebastian Stróż
>>74138102

The Garden of Words is also from the same universe which seems to the theme for Shinkai. I would expect his next movie to follow this theme as well.

Pan Cakes

LESS GOOOOOO, now its time for Weathering With You

Xeno

Watch "I want to eat your pancreas" sad movie but great movie at the same time.

godUsoland

Thanks for the drop! Next, do "Weathering With You". It takes place in the same world, and is very good.

Cori Curry

not y’all reacting to my fav movie

Peter Tran

well this is a pleasant surprise

Athena

Now for the sequel, Weathering with You!

MancunianProphecy

Watch a movie called 5 Centimeters per Second, and just end up hating life....

Jose Ovalle

I'm loving roshi's twist cheeto puff dreads

xOkami

Now it's time for weathering with you 👀

Giyuu

Welp I guess I’ll finally watch this too but with y’all

Dragonfire

next watch "Weathering with you" it is from the same guy who wrote "your name" and from the same studio.

Sugoi_Boi__

Ahh I’ve been waiting so long for this! Glad I’ll be able to watch it again with y’all :)

Arc

Yoo this caught me off guard. I was like - wait didn't they watch this but I was thinking of "A Silent Voice". Gotta order some food for this.

Wolke

the reason he wrote "love you" on her palm was that he thought the writing would disappear like the memos in his phone if he wrote his name

BigSaberBro

Try Josee The Tiger and The Fish, its a cute movie, the ost maker for the movie is the ost maker of violet evergarden

Deshawn Smith

It's a subtle reveal but Okudera got married to Tsukasa (Taki's friend that went on the trip to find itomori) It was clear that Okudera was married because she flashed her ring but if you look at the cafe scene you can also see that Tsukasa is wearing his wedding ring

bblala

Weathering with you next?👀

Jaminica

Where? I thought it was only in weathering with you🤨

rinnko60

i want to eat your pancreas is fire aswell !

Isaac

Didn't expect a movie drop of Your Name. Glad you loved it. A little romance movie with some mystical-time travel element put into it. Very, very wholesome, even with the boob touching because let's be real fellas, if you were having an out of body experience being inside a chick's body, you'd be going for the tiddies too.

TimTakDoh

I’m so hoping you guys react to the K-drama “My Name” at some point soonish cause that show kicks major ass and I think you’ll would love it.

Mist

Do Weathering With You! its by the same director and looks amazing and takes place in the same world as this movie!

Joshua W Capute

I personally think this is not only one of my favorite anime and one of the best, but is also an outstanding example of how anime can do something that no live action film really can and is so unique that when I recommend this to others I can really only tell them to just watch it blind because any kind of explanation from me or synopsis they read will pretty much spoil what makes it so good and also sound really uninteresting. I'm actually surprised y'all hadn't seen this yet, this was the surprise top and most seen movie in Japan until Mugen Train came powering through like... a train. This is also imo one of the best examples of how anime not only shouldn't be localized, but also it can't really be properly localized without losing something or everything in the process, from the best example of Japanese specific gender pronouns which have no English equivalent to the very inherent deep rooted Japanese culture that cannot be glossed over by assuming the audience cannot possibly understand a different culture and must be changed "for the better".

MerkLJackson

the soundtrack from Radwimps is amazing.

Cc.Rin4456

was finna watch ur a silent voice reactions n this pops up god is good

envy

now y'all gotta watch Weathering with You. some of the characters from Your Name cameo in the movie. It's heartfelt similarly to Your Name. ALSO YALL HAVE TO WATCH "I WANT TO EAT YOUR PANCREAS". : )

Sebastian Stróż

Since you guys loved the movie you should try out other movies from Makoto Shinkai, The Garden of Words and Weathering with You (his new movie is coming out soon as well) and all of them happen in the same universe with some really neat easter eggs. Also 5cm Per Second which many consider his best work. You may want to read up on some cool things like the red thread of fate which was represented by the red cord Mitsuha was wearing. Trains also play a very big role in Shinkais movies hence why we saw a lot of them here.

E_lincoln

My DVD ends it with "your name is" which is what they said at the end. Personally I like that translation more than "what's your name" because it makes me feel like they remember a little instead of just having a strange sense of having met.

ERRORCODE616

When Roshi was like "They should just get on the phone and talk about this." WELP.

Nana

Hope you add the boy and the beast to your possible anime movie list

Austin S

wait can anyone confirm the old guys identity? he had to have been someone from the town right?

A.D.Z

Well if u loved your name u guys have to watch Weathering with you now

Zarate217

Next Watch weathering with you

Albert Selimi

I always thought the ending followed with them both remembering everything and that they were in love with each other OR that they get to fall in love with each other all over again. Deffo one of my favourite anime films

NecDW4

If you ever get teh chance to see this, Garden of Words, or Weathering With You in theaters, DO IT! Every once in a while Fathom Events brings them back.

SoggySoup

You guys really need to watch “Weathering With You” now. Set in the same universe. Whole new story and characters though.

Avalon

Weathering with you when?

Sun

If they do watch Weathering with you, I wonder if they'll notice the easter egg in it lol

Vishal Alampalli

Can I recommend Eat your Pancreas? “Kimi no Suizou wa tabitai”

Ky Williams

hope yall watch "Your Lie in April" gotta have lupasan too

godUsoland
>>74138102

1:34:25 Taki: "You never know when Tokyo might disappear as well." Foreshadowing?

sempiternal

i NEED ya'll to watch "I want to eat your pancreas" as well

godUsoland

Fun Fact: The Director of the film came out and said that Ms. Okudera, the woman Taki had a crush on, got married to Tsukasa Fujii, Taki's friend with glasses who came on the journey with them. Guess after they left Taki behind in Itomori, they really hit it off? They did show them having fun during the trip together. You can see a ring on Tsukasa's left hand for a split second at 1:34:38. It's easier to tell if the subtitles are removed.

Oscar

holy shit they finally watched it

godUsoland

Can't believe I just sat down and watched this whole film again lol. I had shit to do today XD

Josh Johnson

Will yall react to weathering with you as well?

NecDW4
>>74149440

Roshi and Sheera both ended up just calling random stuff all over. "watch him drink her spit" like the SECOND they were done with that shrine scene.

Gennadiy Mishiev
>>74151281

He's just the ramen chef. BUT we did see him with his wife before, during the shrine dance scene. They commented how Mitsuha dancing looks just like her mother.

Leon

Weathering with you when? Also random suggestion but Shirobako pls.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Taki's gonna rock mitsuah harder than that comet did....I'll see myself out..

ThatOneGuy

Could y’all do the boy and the beast I think y’all would really enjoy it like this one

earthphoenix7068

The reason they forgot was they left the otherworld without offering something worth half of them, so the god took collateral.

yasmina C

Dororo next? It's also a very touching story like this (mind you, less romance and more brutality) but still

earthphoenix7068
>>74149440

ngl some shows Sheera figures it out way too early and I actually get a little frustrated since then there's no suspense.

Homeskilletbiscuits

All these people recommending Weathering With You, but the movie wasn't that good. There was so little interaction between the two protagonist that it was hard to feel the same love connection as with Taki and Mitsuha

Stuart Hanmore
>>74159068

Im pretty sure it was on the board they shared a few months ago or so of shows they are going to watch

Nickevans21
>>74159613

And that's fine that thats your opinion. I however really enjoyed the movie and thought it was great

blitz

wait did toradora get cancelled?

Emman Reed

this is my favorite all time anime movie

None None
>>74160893

Yep. Nah, according to someone else, they said in Discord that they just outright missed recording it this week, so they'll try to do four this week.

Michael
>>74159613

The movie wasn't bad per say but it just did not hit the same as your name. I think they would still enjoy it if they were to watch it

Garrett

Fully recommend “I want to eat your pancreas” weird title I know, but a tear jerker for sure. Lovely story. Id put it up there with Your Name, and Silent Voice for best love story movies.

botanbutton

My heart is so warm now. I love this movie. <3 When Sheera said, "she's dead", my eyes got so big, lmao.

Garrett
>>74156755

I said the same thing! About to keep recommending this again and again

botanbutton
>>74148857

Well, in Japanese, saying "kimi no na wa" is pretty much asking "what's your name?" but it directly translates to "your name is?". The "wa" makes it a question.

Cloud

WTFFFFFFF THEY FINALLY REACTED TO THIS MASTERPIECE!?!!!?!?!? I LOVE SHEERA AND ROSHI!!!

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Man you guys were really overthinking the time travel stuff. The only distinction was the 3 year gap between the two. There was no loop deal just standard changing the past to save the town.

Erich Bomke

I have a full sleeve of animation tattoos and my Your Name tattoo might be my favorite. Although my Wall-E and Mononoke are damn close...

Astrea Stars

Ay the movie director just announced his next movie and it’s another post-disaster world mystery about a boy and girl

Jose juarez

Yo Roshi plz react to I want to eat your pancreas!!!!!!!!!!!!!

higgins8000 .

love that you guys reacted to my favorite movie, wish lupa was in this but love it nonetheless. Thanks for an early christmas gift :)

Oh Alone

Next is "weathering with you" same director

Taylor Moon

Nice movie, also is Toradora tonight too? Just curious

MochanAmazing

If you guys are like that with time travel, now we need steins;gate

Derreck

Roshi lookin like necalli lmao

Jess
>>74159613

I feel like "Weathering with you" was sort of riding on the coat-tails of "your name". Doesnt hit me as hard

Armando Reyes

I recommend watching I want to eat your pancreas

John Spartan

You both did a great job piecing things together. Glad you enjoyed it as much as you did.

Argo2Unitard

If you guys want more pain, please check out Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms. It came out a couple years ago and it absolutely wrecked me for a whole week.

Jess

I want to eat your pancreas

Benito Serrano

best reactors on the internet hands down. thank you guys and Lupa for all the content this holiday season. Wishing all three of you and the kids the best! Merry Christmas!

kevin (btw i'm a girl)

This is my first watching this and honestly I was confused for half the movie 😂 but the end made me tear up a bit. It was good but I wished they met again while still in Highschool or atleast remembered everything or each others name at the end. I wish it was a one season anime with 24 episodes or atleast 2 seasons but this was good tho. I don’t think I’d watched it again tho some movies I only watch once

Slammy Adams

Shira and Roshi both had it this movie, but just didn't expect it (you both anticipated the story to an extent). Love "Your Name" as a movie, so it was nice to get a rewatch with yall. If you want to keep with Makoto Shinkai movies, you could check out "weathering with you" next. It is an "in universe" sequel to "Your Name" with beautiful animation. Merry Christmas to yall. Also, "I want to eat your pancreas" reaction when?

ArcaneAnomaly

One note I remember reading somewhere is that Mitsuha is a total hypocrite when she scolded Taki for writing "I love you" instead of his name. Supposedly, she was about to do the same thing. I remember reading that the stroke she began with before being cut off is not in her name, but it IS in "I love you". Don't know enough Japanese to know if that's true, but it's hilarious if it is.

Gabby Boakye-yiadom
>>74162763

True enough lol. They just kept going through different ideas on how the time travel was working when it wasn't really that complicated.

Paulothy

"Now is not the time for cheeks Sheera!" lol Have y'all seen Belle? I think its good but I haven't seen it yet, idk if I should watch it first or reccomend it to them so I can watch along with their reaction

Tobi Wan Kenobi

Yes YES!!! ITS HAPPENED YOU NEED TO WATCH ALL SHINKAI MOVIES

Reborn

Please react to these as a trio, 5 cm per second, summer wars, wolf children, I want to eat your pancreas, the girl who leapt through and weathering with you. They are all anime movies

E_lincoln
>>74148857

The "wa" doesn't make it a question. If the pitch of their voice went up like they were asking a question it would make sense but it sounds pretty flat to me. If they really wanted it to be a question they would have added in a question word, but they just left a blank where the names fit. Finishing it with "Kimi no na wa mitsuha/taki" makes more sense IMO than thinking the rest of the sentence is "Kimi no na wa nan desu ka?".

Oliverson
>>74173997

i highly reccomend belle, loved watching it. its not perfect but it is good

Ren

"I was having so much fun" LMAOO

Mia

I can't believe you watched this. Your Name is one of my favorite movies

Atsushi {o}

next off "Weathering with you" movie made by the same writer and same studio...looking forward to it!

Dyastro

Yo, these guys should watch "perfect blue", "paprika", "millenium actress", or any other movies made by the same people. ESPECIALLY Perfect Blue.......ESPECIALLY THAT.

J3rryTron-Kun
>>74169738

Don't quote me on this. But, apparently the writer said that when they told each other their names at the end, they remembered everything they went through together. A shame they didn't show this but at least maybe it potentially gave/gives a few people some "closure".

Mardgeer

and now yall need to watch i want to eat your pancreas

ThunderGod

Very deserving of whatever award it earned. Yall gotta see Wolf children or honestly anything by Mamoru hosoda 👌🏼

Deven Collum

Anyone know what the new upload schedule looks like?

Kinglaive

Nice!! 👍 Thanks for the reaction, it was a great rewatch with u guys, maybe u can watch "re life" after "toradora"

I

If you like this, you'll want to watch "Weathering with You" and "Garden of Words." Same animation, same director, also romance movies. Also "Redline" is a great and unique action/racing movie you could watch with Lupa.

Tony Sylar

Help guys! Episodes 63 and 64 of Hunter x Hunter are missing! You forgot to upload new versions of the video. The vimeo link no longer works.

Moon

Fun Fact If Taki wrote his name on her palm it would have vanished too! The reason that the messages disappeared but the "I love You" did not is because in Japanese folklore, all messages of love are protected by the moon god, Tsukuyomi. TFW you realise that he woke up crying cuz' Mitsuha cried herself to sleep. Also, the saddest part for me was Mistuha's Grandmother went through the same experience but was never able to connect with her other half! It's been too long for her to remember and now she is forced to live knowing a part of her will always be missing

Regulus Regius

I hope you guys get to react to "Weathering with You" which is another movie from the same author Makoto Shinkai! Happy Holidays! ^^

datboy Mikez

Can yall React to umbrella academy if yall have not already?

gaelthras
>>74136753

number 2 is Spirited away and the 1st is Demon Slayer. Although , the fact that "Your Name" is third is amazing, because Spirited Away is from a fairly long time ago where cinema and physical copies of movies were more of a thing and more lucrative, and Demon slayer was a sequel of an already famous and established franchise.

Jose Ovalle

Do you guys plan on watching the code geass movie?

Tev Overhaul
>>74208918

I’ve been waiting for this reaction but i think they will get around to next year

Julius
>>74160045

I felt like the beginning was so simple to understand but it took so long, and this is my first time seeing Your Name along with them.

Anonymous

y’all gotta watch weathering with you i wont say why cause (spoilers) BUT PLSSS WATCH IT !!!!!

SoggySoup
>>74159613

I see where your coming from but that’s because the movie has a different focus. It’s far more mystical than Your Name was.

botanbutton
>>74148857

I know the "wa" doesn't literally make it a question but my brain decided to go smooth and lazy. Of course, I meant to talk about the inflection of the "wa". 😅 I don't know, the inflection of their final "wa" pitched towards a question to me.

Yodayo

I want to eat your pancreas:flushed:?

Magic Wuf

my all time favorite movie

Cho

Maquia is an underrated one too

Gustavo Martínez

Mad that this its my around 11th time watching this movie and cannot control my tears yet

So when are you guys gonna watch Spirited Away? If you haven't anyway XD

Narutofreak94

Mark
>>74170118

Both the “su” in suki (to like/love, as well as the kanji), and “mi” in mitsuha starts with a horizontal stroke so honestly it could be either but I like your theory so much that I’ll choose to believe she was gonna write “I love you” too lolol

Eunice

I want to eat your pancreas plssss next!!!

redrum.

Weathering with You is another good one. Same direction and studio.

Vishal Alampalli

Y’all should try “I want to eat your pancreas” great movie

Julian R

Ayooo lets gooo, I freaking adore this movie!!! Hopefully, you guys add Weathering With You to the schedule sometime in the future.

Quinton Campbell

i can not not cry at the end of this movie lol

Scott Riley Adrueno
>>74159613

I actually prefer Weathering With You. It's a complete anti-thesis to what Your Name stood for and I can't fault it for that. People only think it's less than Your Name is because it doesn't have as much complexity in its plot.

Scott Riley Adrueno

You need to see Weathering With You next, Then I Want To Eat Your Pancreas And then Maquia

Danny

This isnt important in the grand scheme of things but something interesting at 22 minutes in when Mitsuha was pretending to be Taki in front of his friends, she kept said Watashi, Boku and Ore, which the translation can never properly translate since its a japanese language of saying "I or me" in different ways. Watashi is usually a feminine way while Boku and Ore are more masculine. Hence she was playing around with the words until the friends were like "uh yeah". Ofc theres no way to actually translate that to english so they just put "girl" and "guy" down but in actuality she never called herself a girl. it was just the way she referred to herself (watashi) that threw them off and she tried to get the right one down.

Danny
>>74365144

ayo not that pancreas. i read that manga before the movie and shit was depressing af. this was like a happy end but damn pancreas wasnt even bittersweet. shit was just bitter

Edang
>>74365144

maquia and I want to eat your pancreas is a must shit is so goood

I hope you guys watch Weathering With You and A Whisker Away!

You guys literally talked over the part where they said the comet hit the town..

A1_MiLFshAkE

Ya'll need to watch Weathering with You. I actually got slightly spoiled watching it before Your Name where they make a cameo another great movie in the same universe.

Tormain

I completely forgot the female mc from Garden of Words made a cameo in this movie.

Anonymous

Please do weathering with you next it’s the same studio as your name but even better in my opinion.

Tahti

Anime movies ya'll should check out: Weathering With You, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika, Perfect Blue, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Wolf Children, Ride The Wave, The Boy and the Beast, I want to eat your pancreas, Maquia, Black Fox

Diego Zenhäusern
>>74165635

I felt exactly the same way when I watched it the first time. I though I was getting a sweet and funny teenage love movie and not a tragedy🙈😅

Diego Zenhäusern

I remember when I watched this for the first time I was absolutely convinced that the comet was magic and making them swap bodies. So when they stoped swapping bodies after it was "gone" I was just like: "Well, duhh, of course you can't swap any longer, the comet's gone!🙄" Imagine how it broke me when it got revealed that the comet was the thing that ended the swaping....but not because it's "magic" had "gone" but because it freaking killed Mitsuha🙈😭 Also: I was 100% prepared to belive that the two of them NOT getting together would be the price they had to pay for literally saving hundreds of people. So when they actually DID find each other I just broke down crying out of joy!😭
