I love this show but one of it’s weaknesses I think is I feel they explore everyone else’s trauma well but Daniel’s. They just assume we have seen all 3 of TKK movies so the audience will know or have enough of it thought out they’ll understand why he acts the way he does a lot of the time about Cobra Kai that isn’t about his rivalry with Johnny. It just gets thrown in as little bread crumbs, bur not delving into Daniel’s perspective is kind of insulting and just makes his character come off poorly. Like Daniel doubling down on Miyagi-Do makes so much sense when you consider the fact that they just ran into Silver for the first time in 35 years. A man who left a lot of trauma and brainwashed him to where it nearly destroyed his relationship with Miyagi. The most important person in his life. Everyone gets their own way of showing their trauma, and the fans feeling sympathy. Sam struggling with her PTSD, Tory’s home life, Johnny’s trauma with Kreese and how it shaped him, Silver and Kreese Vietnam flashbacks to understand them, Amanda’s backstory was met with sympathy when telling it to Daniel, whereas we see the tail end of Daniel telling his story to Johnny, and it’s met with a joke about him just going to the qualifying rounds. Like all that, and thats the most important part? I get it was used for humor but it sweeps away Daniel’s trauma. Even flashbacks… Johnny has this sad edit with sad music. Daniel’s is met with upbeat music just showing Silver and Kreese being batshit. Now I know TKK3 was a weak movie, but it is a part of the franchise, and a part of the cannon verse in the show, and while Silver was such an OTT villain they had to explain his behavior away with “revenge and cocaine”, they still did some real fucked up shit to Daniel. 2 grown men fucking with a 17 year old boy for shits and giggles. And it wasn’t just what Silver did when he had Daniel in his clutches it’s how he set up a scene of events to get Daniel to trust him, and come to him and Cobra Kai. I applaud the show from letting us see it from Johnny’s perspective albiet pretty flawed from his retelling of things, but it fleshes him out, and makes him more human. It’s a shame the writers just expect everyone to know the movies, and barely delve into how it effected him.

I feel like Sam hanging with Johnny makes sense like Hawk joining Miyagi-Do. Sam needs to let out that anger and frustration while Hawk needs to channel his, and find more peace and balance because CK is what turned him into such an angry person.

I feel like y'all are too quick to take Sam's side. Yeah Tory took it too far with the home invasion and scarring her. But people are quick to forget that Sam was just as responsible for escalating their beef as Tory was, and that she herself was a huge instigator in season 2 and 3. Not to mention the whole beef started because Sam falsely accused Tory of stealing from her mother.

Hawks been the only one on all 3 when it was strictly kreese in Conbra & Johnny & kreese. He was never on strictly it Johnny but now he’s on strictly Daniel. Miguel is the only other one who been under all at some point and demitri a bit but he’s never been under eagle and got his nose broke the first time he’s met kreese

it would have been super cool if moon joined miyagi do and learned the pressure points. she is such a live action ty lee except for not knowing the fighting. all she needs to learn is pressure points: it would keep her as a pacifist and at the same time make her a useful member of the squad. plus gives the actress more screen time. we need her to be the bridge between danny and johnny's drama. every time they fight she would walk up and go "ok guys we just need to cleanse our auras" lol it practically writes itself

I'm not much a fan of Sam but I don't blame her for how she acted towards Tory. It's good that Tory is trying to get her life back together but she made no attempts to reconcile things with Sam despite traumatizing her. Sam just wants to feel that she has some control in her life but she can't do that if she's constantly in fear of Tory which is why she related to Johnny's teaching more since she can take matters into her hands instead of waiting for something to happen like Aisha did with her new school best friend.

To me the worst type of character is the character that is completely awful and unlikeable yet the story REALLY wants you to like the character. Sam is that type of character and that shit is annoying. Another example is Chloe from Life is Strange

Sam's character has been pretty bland for most of the series and the only development she seems to be getting in this season is that she's getting more aggressive.
