Isaiah Cox

NIGGA THIS EPISODE HAD ME SHOOK!!!

eastbaynick

You may have outsmarted me,but I outsmarted your outsmarting. Basically summed up the episode lol

LETS GOOOOOO I can already imagine their minds getting clapped at what happened in this episode

first two weeks of aot demon slayer was better...but the last 2 eps of aot has been significantly better.

Shogun69

A good post on reddit regarding how time works in AOT: AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past? Well, he had 3 perfect conditions: He had the ability of the Attack Titan The ability of the Founding Titan He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke. After Zeke tapped Eren's head, they were able to view Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of the coordinate. They were freely able to view the past as if it were through a one way mirror. Now if Eren had any other Titan other than the Attack Titan, he would only be able to look. But since Attack Titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's recollection of the same event that he's currently experiencing in real time. So this mean that whenever Grisha can see or hear Eren, he's actually recieving a brief future memory from Eren's POV where he can see out of his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a 3rd perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are viewing, allowing for a two way communication through time. Also Note that everytime, Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is always standing behind his dad. So whenever Grisha sees Zeke, it is from actually due to the memories from Eren's POV Another thing to add: Eren did NOT see everything in the future. Eren only saw CRUCIAL moments in the future, for example, he saw Pieck pointing a gun at him when he kissed Historia’s hand 4 years ago, this is why he was so calm when she threatened to shoot him, because Eren KNEW she wouldn’t shoot him. However, Eren DIDN’T know that Porco was going to try to eat him just a couple of minutes later. Even Eren doesn’t know EVERYTHING that will happen

Julian Gaison

Fun fact: Isayama was gonna kill Sasha in season 2 but eren told him no, her time was in season 4

Jason Etuz

you guys should check out "All of us are Dead". It's like train to busan but it's set in a high school

J. J.

Could be wrong but my interpretation when I read this was that Grisha was able to see Eren and Zeke because future Eren (what's happening now) is taking Zeke through Grishas memory via the Attack titan so therefore Grisha is actually seeing a memory of a future eren showing zeke a memory of past Grisha and through the attack titan they can see each other. Am I off base or did they ever explain this clearly?

Art of Trolling

Zeke talking about how Erens dad brainwashed him. He hit dude with the nastiest Uno reverse card. I don’t know who I side with at this point man tbh.

Monke really thought he was the mc for a second

Grantland Shearer

You know when your so pissed off that you just laugh? I actually burst out laughing in contempt for a solid 6 seconds when "to be continued" came up.

Eren really said "thanks im cured! Now uncuff me" 5 minutes in

jesse almonte

this gas always been my favorite chapter of the manga. Glad to see people as fucked up as I was

Iggy

haven't watched the reaction but i know Lupa brain and heart were hurting with the twists lol

jesse almonte
>>76805772

You're more or less correct. If you look back at Eren Kreuger(the attack titan before Grisha,) he speaks about Mikasa and Armin. The Attack titan is wacky like that

Noah Marshall

To my understanding, Eren has memories of what will happen in the future but there are certain times that can change, (his dad killing everyone) So he had free will to impact certain events, meaning he CHOSE to step in and talk to his dad. (I think if I'm wrong please lmk.)

Brenton Pyles

Two key things to keep in mind (no spoilers, dont worry): 1) Eren can not directly see "into the future" here, its just a result of overlapping instances of talking to a past owner of the Attack Titan. When he kissed Historia's hand, he saw himself fucking with Grisha, which we then see happen here. So, in a round about way, Eren saw the future, but its not as direct. 2) When Eren kissed Historia's hand, he didn't see the entire future. He just saw what was left of Grisha's memory of killing the royal family, which included whatever this-episode-Eren told him. At this point, Eren may know far more, but back then and up until the connection with Zeke, Eren only knew he would go about this far.

butterd toast2

As a manga reader this was some epic voice acting

Brenton Pyles
>>76806060

i made a comment that kind of sums it up. the universe is pretty deterministic, but shit happens in the future because of what people want to do in the past. its effectively free will, but not exactly.

Oliver

Manga Readers you know what time it is

Reipher

I’m think Eren was disgusted because his father wouldn’t do what he went there to do without prompting from Eren. He was disgusted because his father wouldn’t follow through.

Blueanon

Eren really said to his dad kill these kids before I make you see your sister get eaten by dogs

PhaedrusRumple

Anime only people are gonna have a field day in this next upcoming episodes

Castles

yes eren is not free either...

BlueSummer

"You don't know what you don't know." XD

Kevin Kovacs

I want to explain some stuff about this episode but I'm sure other people cab explain it for them better! 😅

Anonymous

I would be so pissed if me and my family about to get killed by some big ass naked niggas because this specific ass country was on some bullshit with people on a island.

Castles

LUPA fucking gets it

Amzee

Remember, Kruger told Grisha 'to save Armin, Mikasa and everyone else, you must master this power' and then he says 'i wonder who's memories are these'? Those are the EXACT WORDS Grisha later tells Eren when he gives the power of the titans to Eren (episode 9). And in the VERY FIRST EPISODE Eren has a dream and the flashes are things we already saw. The founding Titan always had the power to see the future. The worldbuilding was on point

EndeavorxGoat

ironic because it was stated that everyone is a slave to something. Eren is a slave to freedom but he’s the least free. Eren hates slaves but he is undeniably a slave. Armin knew him best

Anonymous

I get this completely but it's super hard to explain it😂

Anonymous

So Eren's going full villain I guess damn

Artdysmal

(Im a yeagerist btw :)) Just to clear things up as non spoilery as possible: Eren did not see himself talking to Grisha. What they were trying to explain is that the attack titan users are not bound to a specific point in time since they can access the paths (that area they are in now) freely in order to read into the future so think of it as a hub where all past present and future holders of the attack Titan can reside there. What Eren essentially did was make sure that the timeline (or the path) that would happen is the one where grisha went to paradis to give him the founder and attack. (TLDR: multiple timelines baby it was confirmed last episode with those shots of school nerd Armin and goth Mikasa)

Thallon

Grisha is not seeing Eren, Grisha is seeing Zeke and “himself” through Eren’s eyes. When Grisha was sleeping and “saw” Zeke he didn’t physically see him with own eyes, Eren was behind Grisha when Zeke was in front of him. Its also how Grisha saw Zeke for the last time

lakewood145 .

That's exactly what it all boils down to. "It's is what it is". You want to take my life/freedom, well I'll defend it by any means necessary, which includes taking your life/freedom.

TheRuudster

Oooooh damn. They adapted this part of the chapter so goddamn well

Devin B

If you think about it Eren put himself in this whole situation cause the only reason Reiner and them came to Paradis was to retrieve the founding titan after Grisha took it from the royal family. Marley wasn't going to touch Paradis as long as the royal family had the founding titan. Despite all the things Eren went through he still chose to gas his dad up to fight the royal family despite the fact that his mom and most of the people around him would die. This basically means for Eren whatever his solution is to the fighting is worth the sacrifices he had to endure.

Ben
>>76806177

To add to this, if people need a bit more clarity, take a look at Grisha's anger-filled expression in S3E22 and if you piece it together, that's the moment that Eren pushes his dad to keep moving forward. In S3E6, Eren is only able to catch glimpses of the future that paints his father in bad light, but when touching Historia's hand, he is able to see what we saw today. While it's not the entire future shown as Brenton said, it's enough for Eren to know what awaits.

Smash Bran'Discootch

But at the same time like...Eren is a head. He is Only Dome. I need to see how he's gonna fix that or like...is the fact that his head is in Zeke's hand mean that he has the ability now to do what he needs to do in the last moments before he dies or....huh.

Ohais

I have never been so fucking speechless from a show before. Why is this so damn good?

Vayne

this shit was fucking bonkers bro omg when Grisha hugged Zeke I literally fucking yelped bro LOL WTF. this is so insane and its filling in these tiny gaps in the story we knew and its fantastic

derick ako
>>76807613

Well if you think about his motivations it makes sense. He wanted to go outside and be free not stuck behind the walls. And we all know he'll do anything to be free

Earphone Jack

I was so mad at how the episode ended I literally got up from my seat and walked away lol.

Fun fact about the titles of the episodes: Episode 01 : To You, in 2000 Years Episode 80(next) : From You, 2000 Years Ago

JDOT DRIP

Just a guess and idk if this has been explained in the anime already (I am anime only) but I feel like Eren is choosing to show certain memories to has father which is why he says “why won’t you show me more”

Dark Danny

Zeke isn't brainwashed by the king's the will. the way i understood it is that onlythe royal family that usually inherits the founding titan is brainwashed. remember Historia talked about how her sister would become a different person sometimes when they talked. in season 3, Rod Reiss talked about how his brother and the owner before that changed too. You can see it in their eyes, when Grisha brought up how they could use the foundings power to save them all, her eyes changed and she became a different person and started talking about how this is destiny and they deserve it.

Justin S Tuisamoa

Everything is happening by design. Time is not linear to the Attack Titan I think.

JDOT DRIP
>>76808085

And that’s why he doesn’t know if Erens mother turns out safe or not. because if he knew that his wife would die I don’t think he would’ve went along with his plan

Stellarnut

Bro now and forever when people ask me why I picked Eren's side to the cold bitter end i'm gonna say, "it is what it is"

arpon

for clarification, griesha could not see eren. he could see himself through eren's perspective. that is why they had such an intense glare when they were in the doorway earlier in the episode. also another thing a lot of people didnt notice is that eren copies eren kruger's speech when he manipulates griesha. they both say "we must move forward until death, and even after" and "this is a story you started, isnt it"

bakugoat

I always laugh out loud when people bring up eren seeing his mom get eaten. Eren is a true menace 😭😭

Gustavo

Insidious 2 does the same thing with the past and future stuff. Past events happen because of what happens in the future. So Eren didn't see himself gasing his dad to kill the royal family. It just happened in that moment.

rashawn ince

yall remember alll the times eren was sleeping during the day in the earlier seasons

The issue is that Someone has to take an L hold it then try to do better but after all the fucked up shit that happens you really can't expect anyone to due that because their all like why me I didn't start this and their justified to think so it's so messed up

fili0938

Eren seeks freedom above anything else but he is just a slave to fate. Brilliant writing.

A.D.Z
>>76808682

I think eren was really angry at frieda too because of her words, saying they should stay ignorant and die because of pasts sins and eren hates those words which takes away his freedom

BZD

Eren wasn’t showing Grisha all the memories it seems. But it’s awesome to think that Eren influenced the past all in order to get to this point. I imagine he had some affect in the Owl doing what he did, and the Owl picking Grisha to inherit the Attack Titan.

BZD

So the attack Titan can see the future, does that mean it has a Sharingan?

Devante Vickers

I mean Eren technically told his Father to have him. So he brought himself into the world.

Anthony Argueta

This episode is the most important in the series but also the most confusing even to manga readers to this day. So lemme break it down. Everything I'm gonna say as already been stated in the anime so there's no spoiler ( u can stop reading if u wanna figure it out for yourself). OK so basically, the Founding titan ability allowed Zeke and Eren to access Grisha's memories. At some point in the future, Eren sends selected memories to Grisha. One of these memories were Eren and Zeke going through Grisha's memories. As stated by the series, the attack titan ability allows past holders to view future holder memories so when Grisha saw these memories, he saw it through Eren's POV therefore experiencing everything in third person. Therefore, he did not see adult Eren as Grisha is actually accessing the memories through Eren's POV so he seeing everything in third person. When he was staring at Eren, he was actually seeing himself in third person. In terms of what Eren saw when he kissed Historia's hand, Eren saw exactly what Grisha saw. These include, killing the Kings family, Grisha seeing Zeke in his "dream", Grisha asking Eren to show him more, Grisha begging Zeke to stop Eren and the bad thing that Eren is going to do. He didn't see himself convince Grisha as he viewed the memories through Grisha's POV.

Devante Vickers
>>76807142

Nah, Eren told his father to have another wife and kid. Eren is linked through out all of the attack titans past, technically Eren is still responsible.

Mr Hill

Eren is one of the greatest antagonist of all time.

BZD

Eren not letting Grisha see all the memories was cruel but necessary. If he had show him Carla being eaten, by Dina nonetheless, then it would risk Eren not being set on his path in the first place. And paradoxes are no good.

Ben
>>76808925

Less Sharingan, and more like prophetic visions. A good way to put it is to imagine a movie that's yet to release: When kissing Historia's hand, Eren got spoiled by leaks from the future, but only a few images and scenes, not the whole film. What he saw was enough to change how he viewed things and by knowing some of the events to come, he knew what he had to do to get to that point and to keep moving forward.

Psi47

Yeah nah, Eren's mom dying doesn't justify flattening the whole world, especially when only a select group of individuals were responsible for indirectly killing his mom. There's places out there that have zero clue who the Eldians are and Eren is literally going to let them die too just because lol. That's BIG villain energy right there.

returntolife
>>76807339

I'm a bit lost, my brain is clapped. So you're saying those who will inherit the founding titan in the future already possess the ability to see the future and the past even before receiving the founding titan powers? but also doesn't the attack titan also can see the past and future, so eren could see everything even before he ate his dad? so what's up with the first episode title, "to you, in 2000 years"

J. J.

Lupa is right, it's some inception shit. Past Eren saw future Eren. Zeke was trying to mindfuck Eren through the flashback and got Uno reversed.

Psi47

Also Eren is still to blame for everything that happens because he literally Manipulated every Attack Titan inheritor up to this point to do exactly what needed to be done so he could end up in this position. It doesn’t matter if he all of sudden realized he's "stuck" in this path, because he wanted this to happen irregardless and never tried to go against what may happen in future (even if the laws in the universe dictate he has to because clearly he couldn't know that).

Ky Williams

bro this reminds me of DARK on netflix how the timelines seem to work🔥

Bona Fide

This really solidified to me that AoT has the greatest story for anime of all time. It's really a blessing to be able to watch Aot and DS on Sundays. 2 of the greatest ever and I only give AoT the best story because .. how tf do you even write this? I couldnt write demon slayer either but none of my other selves on the earths could ever dream of producing AoT. Why would I even think of giant eating humans, future ish, renouncing war vows, the betrayals etc and all this shit? Both animes are #1 but Aot plot is definitely the best ever (even series wise to me)

midothegreat

This is the genius of this series, after u finish it and rewatch it from episode/chaper 1 you will see the story from an entire different perspective and a lot of things, from subtle moments that you didn't give much thought watching it the first time and certain episode titles even, suddenly make sense.

MaybeNextTime

"Eren literally saw his mom got eaten in front of him" he did but big oooofffff

Psi47
>>76809325

I'm talking about Reiner and the Warriors who broke the walls. And no, the leaders of the Nation were convinced to eventually attack Eren because he's going to destroy the world (which he literally is lol). But what about the COUNTLESS men, women and children who have NOTHING to do with Eren's pain? Including the ones who have zero idea what's going on in Paradis rn.

jogurtowski

Attack on Titan is a villain origin story

Daniel Borrego

zeke "you gonna do my plan eren?" Eren *reverse uno* "nah" zeke "thats too bad" *reverse uno* "looks like i gotta do my plan" Eren "does it now........" *reverse uno*

VictorBR45

Grisha only sees Zeke when Eren is also seeing Zeke. When Eren and Zeke are side by side, Grisha doesn't see Zeke.

BZD

It’s nice that Grisha saw Mikasa as a daughter. But I don’t think Mikasa saw Eren as a sibling. ;)

sotonye ogan

Damn the plot twist of the plot twist of the plot twist

Nardoc

I am still team Eren. Why should the Eldians who just wanted to live without getting eaten by titans have to die out just because the rest of the world is scared of them? If the rest of the world didnt want to get fucked they should have tried to get along with them. I mean Marley literally has eldians living and fighting beside them so obviously its not that big of a deal though they do treat them like shit for no reason. Anyways they all deserve it imo

Planksir

When you gotta do everything in the group project so you put your name on everything: The MC: Eren Yaeger The Villain: Eren Yaeger The Author: Eren Yaeger Directed by: Eren Yaeger

Zaouli HD

Eren's plan works??

BZD

Just to clear things up. Zeke isn’t stuck at all, he was not infected by the Kings ideology. He even broke the vow renouncing war. And Eren is the one with both the Founding Titan and Attack Titan.

Kendall Gresham

The beauty of being anime only is getting your brain clapped by this episode. Basically all this is Eren's doing. And what's funny is that one of the past inheritors of the Attack Titan was named Eren as well. Just like in WandaVision where it Agatha all along, it was basically Eren all along as well lol. That's crazy.

Anonymous

Attack on cliffhangers

Omar Bautista

Eren saw teh ending to the manga before Isayama knew what to draw, Thats crazy

Night Shade929

Bro that feeling when you remember season 3 part two already confirmed grabbing future memories when Eren Kruger knew mikasa and armin, shit blows your mind.

Wild

ps eren has always been like this its what people get confused with seeing the future. "he saw the future of himself doing it" he did this because this IS eren's behavior ironically enough eren is a slave of himself he is a slave of the same freedom he is trying to achieve. Eren has a psychopathic behavior which prevents him from being a person who thinks about his consequences he killed those 3 guys at the age of 9-10 without a single hesitation he wasnt even sweating or nervous he calculated well and killed each in different manners thats not a how a child should think when it comes to killing people

RuTo-San

S4 just to insane everything that you know and loved did a 360 and another 360 pretty crazy.

Jpeg

We saw the first episode from everyone's perspective, who's next? a tree?

Anonymous

It is what it is, and what it is is guaranteed to happen

Wild

honestly i think eren has been controlling every attack titan since the start

FeripeSama

I personally still think Eren isnt bad, neither good but in my opinion he's just trying to get freedom for his loved ones without them dying like it would've happened with Zeke's plan.

Andre

This show is so trash for it’s ending. GOT type of ending. Here we have Eren the man with the plan, only for him to say in the end “oh I don’t know why I did what I did….” SMH

NeoSpotLite
>>76812479

It was a BS ending. Shows what everyone did, didn't matter at all in the end.

Rene

just noticed in 9:39 when eren explains that he'd destroy anyone who is willing to steal his freedom implies that Mikasa is Eren's freedom and that specific scene makes it more clearer when Mikasa was getting kidnapped or taken away.

PyroPhoenix

Few misunderstandings, none of these are spoilers 1) Eren isnt at fault for the walls breaking or getting all those people killed, he did not have the attack titan at that time. He also isnt just doing this for his mom, he is far far far FARRR past gone..in a way 2) The attack titan holders are not stuck on the future path because it is the future path nor does it want freedom because it knows the future. The attack titan is that way because of Future Eren. Future Eren controls those people through the attack titan. Just like the King controls the founder’s holders. That is how strong Eren’s will is, it’s on par to the king’s will of renouncing war that transcends time. Only difference is Eren controls the past holders 3) Eren DOES NOT have future memories restricted, every other attack titan holder DOES have some future memories restricted BECAUSE OF EREN. Grisha said so right there, he said to Eren “why wont you let me see everything?” Eren is not allowing holders to see certain memories in order to lead them to what he is trying to do. 4) this is more of a fun fact: do you remember who else said “this is the story you started isnt it?” Eren Kruger right? Eren said the same thing right now, so know why Eren Kruger said what he said and saw what he saw now? Ah Eren my boi rlly controlling everyone. Hopefully you read this and it helps clear things up 😁

James

Question. If zeke had never let eren see his dad’s memories to manipulate him, would there be a different out come?

Master Washington

The craziest thing about all this is that it ALL boils down to Eren created the loop just by existing.

Darksteel78

This is wild. Eren's on his Kang the Conqueror shit. Insane!

Papa Souls

Erin's had the Script the whole fckn TIME!

Dune

Listening to them talk about it they sound like crazy people lol. So wait. Does this mean eren reached the coordinate at different parts of the future and convinced past attack titan holders to do what needs to be done? Like where does it start and where does it end? I get that grisha was able to see future and future eren made him kill the royal family but did he only start seeing eren after he was born or what? I got so many questions man.

Thamor

For these Niggas to have post talk after episode, the anime needs to be one of the greatest story that will ever be made. Damn they are demanding crew to actually talk after episode =)

theDBan

Can’t believe I’m finally getting to see this stuff animated after almost 3 years I was legit shaking with excitement while watching this.

Mr. Toastman
>>76813447

Yeah, that's the problem with closed-loop time travel where there's only one timeline. It creates these kinds of paradoxes, or inconsistencies. Personally, I think Isayama kept it simple. Eren only interfered at the Eren Kruger timepoint, because he says that Grisha is the one who "started this story". I assume that means Grisha was free to get revenge for his sister through trying to restore Eldia, and since he made that choice, he saved him through Eren Kruger and continued from there.

UI

I just watched till the end of the episode and saw what the name of the next episode is. You guys should check the name of episode 1 s1 of aot. I dont know whats about to happen, but its gonna go crazy.

KurpShi4K

The reality of this that Eren did this from the start but not really. The man knows what is going to happen next

Chris

Eren manipulated events that caused his mother to be killed because that was the catalyst to his younger self on this path.

Gyomei Himejima
>>76814334

Yup from this point forward, the episodes are only gonna get crazier so I hope they’re ready 😭

Mr. Toastman
>>76813145

I don't think Eren changing the past is dependent on Zeke showing him the memories, but if they were, the answer is yes, it probably would be a different outcome. Although, that's also assuming Zeke actually *could* do otherwise. Every time this timeline plays out, Zeke does the same thing again and again. Free will is an illusion.

KenniB

Very well said you guys! Y'all pretty much got it right!

Jose juarez

HEY ROSHI react to I want to eat your pancreas!!!

Onyekachi Nkenke

Just to clarify the reason why Grisha can see Zeke is because he is looking at Eren's memories, So, he is watching everything from Eren's POV. So, he is basically seeing everything Eren is seeing.

Vincent S Deluca

All this time Zeke thought that Greisha had been brainwashing Eren to follow along with his plan. but it was the other way around, Greisha has been being brainwashed by future Eren. also Greisha can see zeke cause he sees what eren sees, kinda like a 3rd person view of himself with Zeke standing in front of him

Reckless Company

i want Eren to keep this same energy im with him all the way no matter what he does

Wilson Segovia

eren has long hair that way he can cover his ears that way people can’t tell that he is lying about certain things😧😧😧😧

all but father so historia can still be born thats dope

Pretty sure Eren was disgusted in his dad’s weakness to keep moving forward.

bakugoat
>>76817880

Historia was already born by then, historia and eren are around the same age.

Outcast107

Eren was T-posing on Zeke. Showing off his dominance.

Bryan .Manica

It’s good to see that Eren noticed that Grisha found the hideout way before the walls got taken down, and you can see how it upset him. In all the scenes where he’s getting upset or pissed it’s just chills fr fr

Blur

I'm pretty sure Lupa is right. In season 3 when Eren touched Historia's hand he saw that flashback in full but they only showed us still shots of it. He had to have seen himself convince his dad to smoke the Reiss family. That being said this makes it feel like we're in a time loop and Eren is trying to break it now.

Tye

if any of the holders of the nine titans die, or don’t pass on their power by being eaten, the power will reappear in a random eldian birth. they mentioned this in season 3 or 4.

Deshawn Smith

Sheera keeps saying he doesn't need zeke because he has historia. The entire reason Historia got pregnant was to ensure her safety from the military turning her into a titan. Theres been many times its been brought up and Eren has said multiple times that he'd never want to sacrifice Historia.

MaybeNextTime

To your point Lupa, I think Future Eren still manipulated the shit out of the Attack Titan holders at least from what we know from Eren Kruger in s3 when he said the line "to protect Mikasa, Armin, and everyone" so he could get in the position he's in right now. On the same token, Eren was not even born by then. So I think yes, Eren is to blame for that. As to your Point Sheera, Zeke already broke the King's vow so he's not doing what the King wants.

Dry Lyo
>>76818641

It makes no sense to get such an interesting character out of the story but keep Jean and Connie.

RazzyXM

I love it man. If you go back to the very first chapter, the very 1st episode. Eren's dad was looking straight at Future Eren. Author was on point from day one.

Carlos Sarmiento

GREAT POINT ABOUT THE ATTACK TITAN BEING THE OPOSSITE OF THE FOUNDING TITAN

EaterOfRice23

the fixing part has nothing to do with erens head being blown off. erens body was repaired as soon as he woke up thats why zeke talked about waiting years for eren to recover

Reckless Company

can u imagine hearing your king saying that only your people have to die to "atone" for all the people his people killed in the past thats dumb, i will always be team Eren this whole episode just made me agree with his actions even more smh zeke was truly bugging if he thought he was gonna change his mind lol

i would be too the king literally said our people gotta die to atone for shit the ancestors did but despite hearing that his dad was not gonna kill them foh i would be pissed too if i was Eren, also his dad asking zeke to stop him was crazy since , at the end of the day Eren is doing whatever it takes to save his people

Phil Astar

I think when Eren said he was disgusted was still towards his dad. He was disgusted in how he was a "coward" and couldn't go through with the plan initially.

Jay rellim

so basically grisha is like "zeke, stop eren!!" bc he sees what his son will accomplish with the attack titan (aka he doesnt like this outcome) but then once his wife dies he's like "nah fuck it imma give him the attack titan which will enable that whole thing I warned zeke to prevent"? like it's hard to see my man flip flopping like that but maybe eren's influence on him was too strong. eren out here manipulating his own dad like that. next thing you know they'll reveal eren influenced grisha to take his sister out that day which started this whole thing lol jk jk

nah i think he sees the loop and is just fulfilling it. lowkey when he was pissed when armin called him a slave in s4 part 1 i think it's bc he knows deep down he's just following this time loop completely almost like a slave. idk if he wants to stop it but cant but to me it seems like he's embracing the worst outcome aka the rumbling.

JsnSkg

Lowkey miss when this show was just humans vs. Titans, and not all this super deep shit. Still enjoying getting mindfucked every episode, but I do miss the simpler days.

Jeff Heart

Do if eren can see the future did he know his mom was gonna die and that Bert and Reiner were coming and did he know mikasa parents were gonna die to and could of done something bout it!

LeFlaneur

Lots of folks are hyped for Eren to genocide everyone outside the walls, but I’m most excited about the Rumbling ™️ warming oceans, burned/scorched forest, flattening sea floor and land beyond recognition, irremediably destroying most ecosystems and the earth capacity to sustain life, clapping the majority other life forms. Carla died, so fuck Bambi 😊 mass extinction is tight

Eren isn’t changing the past nor is he changing, this is the story going full circle, eren has always been himself. He was the driving force that brought him the attack titan and the founding titan. Before he was even born he was influencing the world. Sad thing is that grisha was forced to go along with this. He just wanted to save his 2nd family the way he couldn’t save his first.

Daida be wildin

Devin Lester

Lmao Eren pulled an itachi on zeke he reversed the genjutsu

Revstarallstar .

Eren needs to die. ima keep this up every episode. Since season 4 I hated him

Nethzil

Eren is in the right he is finally doing great

Tanush

Think about it like this, the attack titan is unlike any other being, let alone any other of the 9 titans. We as people are influenced by our past/past experiences because that’s all we know, similar to the other 8 titans. The other 8 “remember” and are influenced by their past users. BUT, The attack titan sees both its past AND future users’ memories, and is influenced in a timeline backwards to what we know as normal causality for us. Because what is more influential on your actions, a memory? Or a call to fulfill your duty in a predetermined role?? One destined by your son, in years to come… Another example of the Attack titan difference: Ymir memories go to Galliard then to Falco(forward) BUT Eren Yeager memories go to Grisha Yeager then to Eren Kruger(backward) as well as forwards It’s just tough for us watching the show to grasp the concept that season 1 Grisha was influenced by an Eren that we, at the time, didn’t know yet. All in order to, later on, allow Eren to get to the point where he influences Grisha in the past. Yes its a loop, but its def a closed/fixed loop

Seth-San

The only thing you got wrong about your parallel theory at the end is ZEKE does not have the power of the founding titan, and that’s why Zeke’s plan was to use EREN to end all eldians because ZEKE had royal blood in order to activate said power, But because EREN has the power to see the future and the past of all holders of the attack titans memories, he was able to force his father in those memories to kill the royal family AND to steal the founding titan through his father and force him to feed himself to kid eren. It’s mind blowing 🤣, it’s all leading up to this insane moment, the true antagonist of attack on titan.

Asl43n

Eren wanted Zeke to show him the memories, it was all his plan. Zeke thought he pulled a good one, sike Eren out here with the Aizen plays

he didn't manipulate only his father, he manipulated EVERY attack titan holder from the very beginning of this titan thing up until now to lead to what's happening now, and what will happen. He basically wrote the manga even thousand years before his birth bru ... xD

Zephyrs

Lupa figured it out, he's one of us now

Dude559

Either this is another big dick play by Eren and he's actually trying something here...Or he is a dick and will kill everyone to attain his freedom.

Oax Al

Man. I can't really blame Eren for wanting to watch the world burn, especially after his brain got fried by the time loop memory shit. I will say though, it's not a good thing, it's very much a dickhead move. Love that from this show. Showing that understanding and empathizing with someone's actions doesn't mean condoning them. Kind of like Michael Jackson.

Skullfoot

Wow the Eren's T-pose at the end shows dominance

TimmSchmimm

I don't care what anyone says, attack on titan is the best story in anime to ever exist, not even anime out of all forms of art and media attack on titan in the pinnacle wow.... And holy shit I love shakespear so much, all the masterclass 10/10 stories wind up in the shakespearean story of the battle against fate. The battle against fate trope is the best core of a story when handled right, even berserk and aot are the 2 best stories I have ever consumed in my life wow. This discussion at the end was also so goated man I am so happy to be alive right now

Thomas_Stilinski

Idk if you guys remember the holder of the attack titan can see past and future memories of attack titan holders

Bosastar

Dude really drove his dad crazy

Kurtis Kissel

For sure he was disgusted in his dads cowardice and how he almost didn't do it and had to hype him up.

meguminis.

Do y'all remember when this was just about humans fighting against titans just to be able to go out the walls?

godUsoland

Eren is the son Grisha wanted in Marley. Zeke is the son Grisha wanted in Paradis.

Joel Amoa

Grisha after killing the Reiss family gave off Light Yagami vibes after being caught as Kira.

2 men broken for different reasons one was because he thought he was a new god and would never get caught so his mind breaks before he dies and grisha turned out to be a good man who was traumatized as a kid got roped into a freedom cult and then mentally manipulated by his future son into committing child murder.

So in order to avoid any confusion regarding the time travel mechanics, I will break down what type of Time travel we're dealing with here. AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. This calls into the question of the existence of free will in the world of Attack of Titan. The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past? Well, he had 3 perfect conditions: 1) He had the ability of the Attack Titan 2) The ability of the Founding Titan 3) He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke. So this mean that whenever Grisha can see or hear Eren, he's actually receiving a brief future memory from Eren's POV where he can see out of his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a 3rd perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are viewing, allowing for a two way communication through time. Also Note that everytime, Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is always standing behind his dad. So whenever Grisha sees Zeke, it is from actually due to the memories from Eren's POV

The Pebble

No Sheera, Eren said multiple times throughout the show, " Because I was born in this world." Not "I was born here." It's meant far more philosophically than literally born in Paradis, dunno why you're changing the wording of the most said phrase in the show to make it literal lmao.

That’s what I thought. But thanks for putting it into such concise words.

this is just meta, whoever made aot was a quantum physician

shamier fields

not to mention the whole world was about to ally with marley to take out paradise like nah im not gonna sit like a dog and let yall take out my people cause you cant let go of the past XD

Dark Danny

I don't know why people don't get that. Like really Eren's the bad guy? Did yall forget the current situation their in

Dbhe

I wonder if the anime will have a different ending than the manga. Because...if you think about it, the concept of free will and multiple timelines is very important to both this story and the visual novel AOT is derived from

Moon
>>76901843

wait aot isnt a visual novel, its from a manga you know that right

Prune Chips

Please delete this. It's a big spoiler.

Episode 1: To you, 2,000 years in the future Next Episode: From you, 2000 years ago 😏

Thulani Mason

When Eren said he was disgusted by what he witnessed, I think he meant that he was disgusted that his father didn't immediately kill those folks, that he was weak. Eren has always been aggressive, never backing down from what he believes is right. In the Crunchyroll version of the episode you can read the conversation young Erin is having with Grisha after he and Mikasa killed those men. Young Erin was like "We just happened to kill some animals that happened to be human!" Erin is dead set in his ways and he's going to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Princceee

Also you missed it where wren touched historias hand that’s where he saw the future because he had touched royal blood and from that point wren won

Argo2Unitard

Yall keep spelling Eren wrong in these comments and I'm here for it.

Mariah

Eren's such a good brother He got payback at his dad for traumatizing Zeke by traumatizing him instead, and then having them meet in person and apologize 💕💕🤞 ahh brotherly love at its finest

AmpLvX

If Greisha was seeing Eren's future memories wouldn't that mean he was looking at himself through Eren's eyes

War2244

Eren's rage at king of the walls was so fucking palpable this episode. You could feel his hatred seething through. Even Grisha could feel it lmao.

miss millie.
>>76926860

yes, he was seeing himself in a 3rd person perspective. which is why he could see zeke, because eren was always standing behind him in those scenes, allowing grisha to see him.

This turned into a 5D chess game real fukin' quick
