Im gonna hold my opinion until the end of this series, The Witcher, because when I say I was so shocked to see how they did my boy Eskel so dirty beyond belief. Like I know I was not the only one wondering wtf they thought they was doing when they killed him off. "Ayo that dont happen in the books or the game! Aye!!! AYE!!!!"

They coulda just killed off one of the nameless show-only witchers in the background instead. First time viewers don't know Eskel and they literally did nothing to make the viewer attached to him, so killing him literally served no purpose for the viewer other than making Geralt sad and shock value. Same outcome if they just used a made up witcher, instead of pissing off the fans by killing a liked character and literally Geralts equal.

Exactly like I wanna see how this story ends and I want to know if it was worth it because that did not sit right with me whatsoever. And I never played the game or read the books. I had a friend in high school who would tell me about this series alot because he loved it so much. I got an understanding and came to like it myself and started to watch play-throughs and read lore online.

A lot of people hated on this season, and this episode for how they did eskel. i never read the books but i took this as a unique story, showing how eskel wasn't himself bc of the tree jawn that infected him. Its not like the show didn't give an explanation for him being weird and not like himself. I just liked the episode for what it was i guess.

Yeah, those swords are Geralt's swords from the game and on the scene where Vesemir is putting up Eskel's medallion onto the tree, you can see the medallion they use in the game

95% of the reason people care about Eskel is the games. The show is based on the books and he's barely a character in them. I don't understand why so many people are outraged by his fate here

I think that Leshen are prolly akin to ants or bees, prolly from some forest world w/ something like a World Tree, which would be the "mother", and thus the only one capable of producing more Leshen. So think of any Leshen in this world as simply Drones that got yeeted into random dimensional holes during the Conjunction, and thus are now stuck in this world they are aliens to, without being able to reproduce since only the "mother" can reproduce, and it isn't w/ you cuz it might be like kilometers in size or w/e World Tree type of shit have you, and thus wouldn't rly fit through RNG dimensional holes poked into realities by the Conjunction

Yeah instead of killing Eskel they could have made him a Doppler spy, and have REAL Eskel save Ciri when she goes on her first hunt alone. I don’t know why they give him so much screen time and kill him in one episode.

There’s a lot of writing in this season that doesn’t really make sense lol. Honestly would’ve preferred some asspull like that compared to what comes next. ***Spoilers for the entire season 2:**** You were warned lol Essentially all of the "original script" this season doesn't mean anything. Almost every plot point and subplot is made up and ends in one of two ways: -The characters act unnecessarily weird/ and create drama. But it's resolved within the season to make it seem like they had character development. But all the writers did is make the characters personality do a 180 due to a problem, then fix the problem and return the character to their original state and call it growth. Literally almost every character ends the season with how they started it or returned to their end of S1 personality. -They set up a plot point to create drama, but then...it just doesn't mean anything or disappears.

Why not get upset when they're fucking it up for literally no reason? Compare changes made in LotR movies compared to the books, most were necessary/made sense, here they're just changing stuff for no reason and without thinking how it impacts the characters and their future. Instead of dismissing criticism for no reason, maybe understand that book readers, if they're upset, they're upset for legit reasons?

Even if eskel had no purpose in the books how he was dealt with in the game, another adaptation showed what could be done with character and made many fond of him so this feels like wasted potential honestly.

At this point the show deviates away from the books..... They change the lore of where monsters come from, they change Fringilla's storyline, they change Yennefer's character, They cut out a portion of Triss' character to shoehorn the weird Fringilla and Francesca subplot... Fringilla's character is the biggest change I feel from the books, there's a massive spoiler from the books I won't go into, but I'd be surprised if they implement it into the series, even though it's a big reveal. I liked season 2 but they've changed a lot from the books other than killing off Eskel.

I haven't read the books, but I've played the games and listened to some lore content. What have they changed about monster origins? I thought the show was pretty spot on with the conjunction of spheres dumping random shit from different planes onto the plane/sphere we experience.

Most book readers I've talked to are angry about so much else that they never mention Eskel. It's the game only people that I see complain about Eskel's portrayal most often.

Great episode and reaction as always lol. Yeah, they were confused because leshens aren't supposed to be able to infect people at all. Also yen did do an exchange when because she absorbed the fire from the burning buildings and just used it to attack the problem was that fire magic itself is just dangerous to use.

I don't think people are angry about Eskel not getting a big role. It's just that he is as good as if not better Witcher than Geralt. So it does not sit well with a lot of fans that he got taken out like a monster of the week
