Percy is savage!

Comments

WillGlacier

no if you actually watched the campaign, most of those doors are legit them failing over and over again to roll high enough to open the door

JotaroDrake

Percy having a bag like Annabeth’s lol

UYMAAGEEK

Is it just me or does there always seem to be one background character that looks like Matt Mercer that ends up getting fucked over somehow?

Smash Bran'Discootch

So Archie's VA is Merry from The Lord of the Rings and Charlie in Lost. The Duke's VA is The Hound from Game Of Thrones. The whole thing with Pike is brand new to the animation. We had a vague idea of what she was doing when she was away, but this was our first time seeing it. You've now seen Percy's Second Gun, Bad News. Because "Nothing travels further faster". I had to hold my shit in when Roshi said, "Percy needs to add Sniper Rifles" cause I almost spoiled it. The Magic Bag is just a Bag Of Holding, a classic DnD item. Its basically an extra dimensional space inside of a bag. I'll once again have more after I'm done watching.

UYMAAGEEK

I love visualizing all the rolls that happened in this ep and how many nat 1s they had trying to open that door

Sam

Sweet, been waiting for this, great as always. So glad you guys seem to be liking the series!

James Michael Morehouse

The VA of the Keeper Yennen is Gina Torres, who was on Suits and Zoe in Firefly/Serenity

GraySun YellowMoon

I don't think it's ever mentioned in the show but Percy's gun is often referred to as "The List"

Smash Bran'Discootch

Oh, and Stonefell's VA is Reinhardt in Overwatch. I love so much how they take lines VERBATIM from Critical Role and insert them into the show. Only the way Percy delievered the line, "You were the one i was least looking forward to." was a lot colder in the show because he said it with this condescending attitude that said, "Yeah, you're definitely on my list, but killing you is going to give me the least amount of satisfaction because you're so unimportant." Also, you should have seen Taleisin's(percy's) face when he found out Cassandra was alive. See when Taleisin created the character Percy, he CREATED The Briarwoods as part of his backstory. Everything about Whitestone, cassandra, his weapon, everything. Only what a good player does in DnD is give a backstory, but intentionally leave pieces of it vague so that the DM can then go and use your character's backstory as part of the MAIN story. So at this point, they had been playing together for over two years before they started streaming. Yes, Percy knew his character's backstory, but it wasn't anything he thought of because it never came up. The dinner in episode 3 is when Matt first brought out The Briarwoods. He crafted this entire story arc based on Percy's backstory that Taleisin wrote up and forgot about. And whats great is each character gets something like this. It's what makes critical role so good, and honestly DnD so good. You get out of it as much as you put in. Your story can be as shallow or as deep as you choose to make it. Finally, y'all are NOT PREPARED for next episode. We talking about ICONIC moments in Critical Role? Next episode covers one of the most LEGENDARY 30 minutes in DnD history.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Sooooorta. Thats the name the community gave to the gun and what it came to be known as. But Percy always called it The Pepperbox.

Pendragon404

To clear up what Scanlan said. Grog is basically half giant, he's from a race called goliaths in DnD which are "cousins" of giants.

bandi138138

In the beginning, the rebels mention that the "Kestral" has been moved to professor Anders, and that she would be hard to extract. Stonefell tells Archie they know all about their spy, the Kestral. Archie tells Percy that his sister is alive. The Kestral is Cassandra.

Vin

I love Percy but the guy has some flaws like some times throughout the series he had that storm trooper aim smh

BZD

Percy was awesome!

Ted Cali

"Gonna have fun burning you off my balls." Um. NOPE. No, absofuckinglutely not. At that point, just kill me. I have no idea what that means, but I want to have no part of that at all.

DevilMayCarter

Hey Yo. Percy is here for it this week!

Smash Bran'Discootch

He said something like, "You're an annoying little tick. Gonna have fun burning you off my balls." As in like...that would be an annoying place to get a tick. And how do you get ticks off? You burn them off.

Dontsop Keran

“Your sister is alive” Sheera- “for now” Lmfaoo

Jeremiah Wagner

All characters have a flaw. But Percy having storm trooper aim makes sense. They live in a world with no technology and he’s the only person with a gun. Like I’m the first episode he tries to shoot his gun and the clip busted

Brandon Duckett

10:18 What's up Alpha. Have you seen the Power Rangers recently?

Dréa

Every time I see Percy I see Mako with white hair and Bolin's eyes 🤣

Shiroja

No mercy percy

rickie woodson

or once he gets his revenge the demon gets percy's soul..........we will see. you guys are caught up to me as i've only watched up to ep 6. its all speculation going forward

GoldenBoy

I cannot not think of Kratos everything this man says the word Vengeance lol almost the same story and tone

Tim Chaos

I really love how they convey the dice rolling that goes on in DnD in this show 😆 sometimes you just can’t roll high enough to open a dang door, sometimes it’s ez pz, whatever the dice says 🤷‍♂️

Christian McKinzie

That door scene took them like 45 minutes in game, took several resources and several failed rolls of the dice

Isaac

At the rate characters get murdered, I won't be surprised if she gets bodied.

Isaac

Damn, that dice roll must've been mega trash for Percy to fall out the window like that. Lmao. It's so fun to think every dumb fuck up they have is because of a shitty roll. I love it. I guess the GM had to throw them a bone and make it so the door opened itself because of the piss bucket. Probably not, but still fun to think that's how it played out.

Tabbs

Or maybe they just wanted to make comedic scene 🤷‍♂️

Isaac

I don't take their combat too seriously to begin with because the show ( and possibly their game irl based off this ) had to keep it balanced so nobody does anything crazy op on a constant basis. Like plant/animal girl sometimes pops off hella hard with the roots and other times she doesn't do anything special and gets clapped when she coulda just did the same roots stuff.

Isaac

"The List" is a dope ass name for a gun. Way better than pepperbox. lol

Isaac

And Percy falling out of the damn window like that must've been a garbage roll too. lol

Isaac

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if some background fodder for designed to look like the actual cast or their friends for funsies.

Isaac

Yo, it's been bugging me the whole time that Percy looked like someone and you just helped me figure out who I was thinking of. LOL

Isaac

Metaphors and expressions just flew over Ted's head.

Isaac

It's funny how good I heard these guy's sessions were and that everyone loves their stuff so much that they try to emulate it and fail and it happens so much that there's some term the DnD community has for people who keep trying to be like Critical Role. I don't remember the term but I just remember it being mentioned a few times off this Youtube series that tells nightmare stories of horrible DnD sessions.

Sheron Taylor

Aww yes no mercy Percy strikes who’s next

Hipuno

People often refer to it as the Matthew Mercer effect. An easy pitfall for those who enter the hobby from CR and have no other point of reference.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Nah, the "Matt mercer effect" is a name that a bunch of salty DMs came up with that refers to new players going into their first session of DnD and leaving disappointed because they expected something the same quality as critical role. Which, of course, is unrealistic to expect of DMs seeing as all of them are voice actors with skills particularly suited for immersing themselves in their characters. In my opinion, it's kind of a trash term. "Oh, I can't be as good as this guy so i'm gonna blame him for my players not having a good time." The truth is, it's up to the players and the DM to meet before they even start playing and discuss expectations for the game. And from there, it's up to both the players and the DM to craft an interesting story.

Tyrone Arcega

Please watch DRIFTERS OR THE KINGS AVATAR

Victor

Just out of curiosity, will you guys react to another show on Monday and Tuesday, now that the Witcher reaction is over?

Joshua Z. Phillpotts

That bag is called a “Bag of Holding” in D&D, it can hold many things but has a cap at 500 pounds

Dréa

I felt the same way! It was the eyebrows that really made the connection for me 🤣

Foxyguava

Roshi: "How am I going to hear your questions now" That's not how ears work my guy,

Zakki

And the door wasn't even locked, it was just barred 🤣🤣 3 people and 3 spells (dimension door, unseen servant, bigby's hand) to open a barred door lmao

KairosTheOne

Fun fact, every time our main characters have trouble with a door in the show is an inside joke and a callback to the original D&D campaign in which every time the party would encounter a door they would begin to have HORRENDOUS luck with their dice and fail most of their rolls to try and get past the door, this happened multiple times throughout their campaign 😂

Tim Chaos

I like how literally the two comments after mine are also talking about dice rolls, but go off

Smash Bran'Discootch

Real enemy of campaign 1: Doors. Real enemy of campaign 2: Chairs. Real enemy of campaign 3: Fearne or Chetney.

Marcus

@Jon I see what you are trying here. I don't think it was said with this in mind :D also, you can hear underwater. just saying.
