Percy a goat I fw this show more than I expected

Kevs rey

Came in riding on a bible left me with stitches 😂😂😂

gamerman1902

Sylas and Delilah are evil and irredeemable but why are they lowkey couple goals lol

Sera

Probably because they are literal a "ride or die" couple

Oliverson

Cool easter egg, vedmire shows up scarred and burned on his side. The voice actor for him is the hound from game of thrones whose also scarred and burned on his face

Devin B

Percy did not waste any time going into no mercy Percy mode when he saw chick

Devin B

If your girl is willing to carve her arm up to ressurect you then that's definitely the one for you as messed up as they are

bandi138138

Clerics literally has an ability called “Destroy undead” that just vaporizes low level undead creatures within 30 ft of her. Clerics are OP against undead, yes, but it’s because undead vs. Holy magic. She’s more balanced against other creatures, or even high level undead creatures, like a powerful vampire lord, for instance.

Sera

"Came in riding on a bible." Roshi, come on 💀💀

Sera

Oh, and you might not have caught it because she had only like one line, but the new lady at the end has the same voice actor as Cheshire from Young Justice.

Isaac

You don't really see too many evil couples. Usually the evil bastards are single. I think we need to see more evil power couples in fiction y'all.

Beef Gristle Mill

When I first watched this episode and the next, I was wracking my brain trying to figure out why she sounded so familiar and now I can't unhear it.

Foxyguava

Sheera: "Why would you back up against the wall?" What do you mean? The only other option is stand next to the entry way lmao

Brandon Blue

3 eps left So keen for you lot to finish this. S2 about to be insane.

Fenrir

Yuna use Holy

Sam

Pike getting her Enter Wakanda moment is awesome

Edgar Perez

Pike pulling a Naruto this episode. From the entrance to her sharing her holy powers.

Edboy

Bruh I went back episode 7 to see the shadow thing and actually was there 🤯🤯

Blumenberries

Fun fact about Pike's astral projection: they used the astral projection as a way to allow Ashley Johnson (person who plays Pike) to play remotely. They would be around the table in LA and she would join thru a skype call from NYC.

Isaac

I knew it. Something told me she was playing with them over Skype. I love how they translated their irl actions to the plot.

CynicallySalty

Clerics legit bully tf outta everyone, but especially the undead. My first character was a Life domain cleric in a Curse of Strahd Campaign (think Dracula Gothic horror). They bullied tf outta that man with the sunlight spell. Beautiful.

Q

Don't know if anyone said this yet but Fun Fact: The VO for the lady in the cell did the VO for Cheshire in Young Justice

Ted Cali

Tale as old as time: "Say, that's a real spooky campaign you got there, DM. Be a real shame if a cleric showed up and... TURN UNDEAD!"

Teyon Alexander

Pike showed up and was like, “BRING ME THANOS!!!!!” Lol. Last episode when he shot the guy in the mouth you could see the blood pattern take the shape of a bird like creature similar to the silhouette of Percy’s mask. They do subtle things like that all the time in the show. Subliminal stuff you don’t always notice.

BZD

Pike be leveling only her Faith, but looks like she remembered to level up her mind too while at the temple.

Smash Bran'Discootch

So the lady in the cell at the end, you've actually seen before in one of the previous episodes. The single frame of Percy's shadow holding the gun to his own head is actually super misleading. It's an easter egg that pays homage to a popular fan theory at the time which was that Percy's last gun barrel was meant for him. But when he was asked directly in the campaign if it was for him, he says what it's actually for, and they also confirmed this in the campaign wrap up. The scene is there as an easter egg to pay homage to that. I won't spoil what it is, but it is definitely not intended for himself lol. Pike's astral form is how Matt would explain the times when Ashley Johnson didn't have to work and actually could fly out to california to make it to the show, or whenever she finished filming early and was able to Skype in while they were live streaming lol. And whenever Ashley couldn't make the next session, it was "Oh, her connection to Saranrae is interrupted and she can't maintain her astral form" and she'd wink out, or matt would pilot Pike. Little things like that. The way they're explaining it in the show, if you remember in an earlier episode one of the clerics told basically that the chamber she was in was a concentrated source of her god's power. The cleric told her, "No one person is meant to channel that much power alone" but you saw pike go through her trial with her god and suddenly she IS channeling all that power by herself. So like Clerics are SUUUPER effective against undead anyway so her absolutely mowing them down is totally right, but just don't expect her to be at THIS level of power in other seasons because she won't be at the source of that concentrated divine power. Y'all are seriously not prepared for the last three episodes. As one of the backers of this kickstarter, seeing this come to life has been incredible.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Yeah, Delilah is an evil person but a damn good partner. There's a specific line in a future episode that completely encapsulates them but i'm not gonna spoil it. You'll know it when you hear it. It's another line that was taken verbatim from the live stream.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Also, we didn't get this Sylas and Delilah backstory in the original campaign. Like we knew SOME about them and what their plans and goals were, but we didn't know how they became the people they are. Like this show started seven years ago, but even all this time later just getting that extra world building is awesome.

Nesko_Pie

Don’t miscount the healer!!

Smash Bran'Discootch

Curse of Strahd is fantastic.....except that death house. If you ever run Curse of Strahd, here's my suggestion. Do away with the Death House entirely. Run the module Waterdeep Dragon Heist and at the end of that, go DIRECTLY into Curse of Strahd but cut the death house out and start at the opposite end of Barovia.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Yeah, its an easter egg that pays homage to a popular fan theory that EVERYONE on tumblr and twitter wouldn't stop raving about that the sixth barrel was meant for Percy. Only for Percy to COMPLETELY shoot that theory to hell when he explained what it's actually for and then confirmed in the campaign wrap up lol. For reasons that i won't spoil, percy would **never** kill himself with that gun lol. With something else, sure, Percy was going through a severe nervous breakdown during his entire time with Vox Machina, but not with that gun.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Also for the few times she actually was able to fly out to LA and make it. Then her "connection to Sarenrae is broken" lol. Oh man, good times.

Maine West

I saw the shadow 🤌

Devyn Torrance

Percy's curse reminds me of Kurapikas Nen ability.

rickie woodson

dont know who that is but she looks like delilah. sister? bad glamour spell?

Mad4Life

Also nobody would think a zombie is strong enough to bust through a wall like that? There's literally no winning with Sheera though , she always has to find something to complain about it and can't just accept bad shit is going to happen in a show.

Asellian

delilah is a bitch but she kinda bad tho..holy

LordFaet

Someone above mentioned it but I'll say it again since these things can get lost in the comments. Remember that the priest at the temple Pike went to mentioned that the chamber she was in was a conduit to "more power than any one person can handle". So probably a big part of why she can astral project and show up swingin' like fuckin' Thor showing up at Wakanda is because that's where she is.

Isaac

We love a baddie that turns to the evil demon power to save her man. I want someone like that.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Though, in all fairness, later in the campaign she gets literal wings and can just...basically summon her god. And yet, Percy holds the record for most damage done in a single turn in campaign 1. All these spellcasters and fantastical races like elves and goliaths and Percy, The Human Fighter which a large percentage of the DnD community considers a "boring character" and nobody even got close to his record damage.

Ebony Conner

It's okay Lupa I thought the light was gonna cinge them too

Tabuxy

Pike's astral projection was a way they were able to include the player in the game as she was away from the group at this time. They were using Skype to have her video conference into the sessions. Additionally Clerics in dungeons and dragons are known to really just mess up the undead. There's an ability some clerics have where undead just die if they get too close to them.Pike didn't have that ability, but I am mentioning it just to drive home how much of a type advantage she really has against them.

slipHAZARD

My biggest issue with the show is that we've already seen them take on and handle a giant thunder breathing dragon in the second episode, so all fights subsequent to that have felt rather "meh". The enemies are interesting but a couple giants, even undead ones, don't seem like much of a threat really after we've seen them defeat a dragon.

Argo2Unitard

Archie really was the Lupa playthrough

FreshxEli Tv

It’s just like ranking of kings no matter how strong you are fighting the dead is different than fighting something that can’t die or feel pain only 2 people in the entire season are effective against the dead I think it adds a realistic skill base to the show and how power scaling works

LeFlaneur

What was so offensive about Archie's death is how so many people died to save him a few episodes ago, and then he dies so unceremoniously, not even making at the end of the season. Just fells like the show is trolling us.

LeFlaneur

The first fight with the Briarwoods was up there. And "handle" was more "survived an arrogant dragon who underestimated them". The dragon was almost comedic, like the way he trolled his garrison by gassing them up and killing them moments later. I was way more anxious with the wraiths than the dragon honestly. The show does a fairly good job with power scaling.

Spriggz

Roshi: goes to open door Lupa: "Bro that's like Elden Ring!"

Silent Doe

Crit happens lol. no one is truly safe in DND, not even the main characters

Curtis Rice

Delilah has the same voice actor as Azula from ATLA

Smash Bran'Discootch

It's been literally every show. I made a comment a few weeks ago, "New YaBoyRoshi drinking game. Take a shot every time Lupa says Elden Ring".

Avonti 2

Shit I means it's one hell of a game and that sense of running while getting fuxked and fighting for your runes be real.

Viela Guay

Sir idk if you've played DnD before, but plot armor definitely does exist. It's just called the DM fudging rolls. Like unless you have a particularly sadistic DM or you're playing like a 1-shot dungeon crawl, the DM generally doesn't want to leave you in a situation without any outs and tend to only actually kill PC's if they've pretty much exhausted their plot armor stores via a chain of unfortunate events

Roman.San

I need double uploads fr

Champion Bescos

Feel like that’s a spoiler Smash. I can appreciate you being a fan of the OG livestream and sharing facts and trivia, but things like whether Percy wants to kill himself or not are fun to speculate on until confirmed one way or another by the show. :/

Panda

I can see where you are coming from, because a dragon is supposed to be an apex predator of the world, on top of being super rare. So killing one would be such a huge deal that it should make the following things matter less, but like people pointed out the context of that situation makes it a lot differnt. Them being able to abuse a weak spot in this dragon on top of the dragon highly underestimating them allowed them to take a win. But you can't tell me that if he blind sided them in his lair, rather than announcing his transformation, he wouldn't have bodied all of them.

Kyojin Kirā

lupa really be thinking he funny : (

Isaac

And icky Vicky from fairly odd parents and Mandy from Billy & Mandy.

Oshane Braham

Where else would his back be sheera?? 🤣

Ted Cali

Try playing a Sun Soul Monk in Strahd. I mean, a good DM will always find a way to balance it, but it’s basically “hey, both of my fists are mini suns now and I can attack three times with them every turn at level 3.”

Foxyguava

it's all in good fun though. To me it's always more amusing than aggravating lol

Smash Bran'Discootch

Um. No. I run 4 games a week. Plot armor only exists if you're a terrible DM. Only trash DMs fudge rolls and if you fudge rolls, you are NOT playing dnd. Like, if you're going to fudge the rolls, whats the fucking point of even rolling? You wouldn't let your players fudge their rolls, would you? No. Of course you wouldn't. So what gives you the right to do that? People who fudge rolls are lazy and just not creative enough to adjust to the bad rolls. They make a mockery of the game and waste everyone's time. Fudging rolls means you don't respect your players. If you're going to ignore what the dice say, write a book, because you're sure as shit not playing dungeons and dragons.

Arc

The slave in the beginning wasn't on the list but the smoke showed for him when he blew away his fingers.

Squeeky Squid

I disagree, but I don't have the time, nor the fucks to give to a long winded reason.

WackySwacky

This episode made me realize that there is a major problem with this show, which is that since it's based off a DnD campaign, it shares the same flaw of the story being at the whim of dice rolls. As a result, a lot of completely nonsensical and anticlimactic stuff happens throughout. This is why the show seems to be half-baked and badly written a lot of the time. That said, I am enjoying it, but they really should have just accepted that changes needed to be made in order to smooth out the rough spots from the actual campaign.

Spadez

Why? For you? This is how it went down and every little moment that is in the Campaign is referenced, even if it doesn't show it. EACH episode of critical role's second campaign is 4 hours or more. This is a show about the DnD campaign not just some story written up. If you play DnD you know that is called being rail-roaded through the campaign. We wouldn't have the joke about doors (since they ALWAYS roll low on interactions with doors and chairs), we would be missing the inside jokes they keep throwing in. In the end, the players of the game are voicing their characters in the show so they have the emotion of the LONG story they all wrote together using the dice as the decider. Maybe you should just accept the show the way it is since that is the way it happened in the podcasts.

WackySwacky

I wrote this a long time ago and have since not only joined a real DnD campaign (going on 6 months now), I have also binge watched all of Campaign 2, half of Campaign 1, and am currently caught up on Campaign 3. That being said, I no longer agree with what I said here. The show is great. But now I think there is perhaps something lost in translation. Critical Role Scanlan is hilarious, because of how Sam interacts with everybody and the improvised nature of the game. The show is definitely good and enjoyable. I just now think the game is a little better.
