Percy look like a bloodborne hunter just with a blue jacket

cheezeblade

Pike said percies soul looks like inside the closet under the bed.

Franklin wasn't getting away with 35mil scott free

Cassandra was always sus wdym - they were just more lowkey about it earlier. Like the episode she was introduced she was weirdly calm and didn't seem very excited/ hopeful to see her long lost brother. She'd just been too composed so it sent off alarm bells early for me.

Myles Guy

That heavy metal bit was some bull shit Ngl 😂😂😂

Sam

Here we go, back on track, only 2 left

Kingmakaii

The minute they asked pike to do sum I was like that demon gonna whoop her ass and I was right 😭

Fobbles

Wooo! Next episode is the best!!

Fano

Ethan

That's a reddit comment from 6 years ago about the original Cassandra character in the game. Tryph is right, it's a bit of both as they edited the character for the show. Just watch the next couple eps and you'll see.

Sincerely, the Best.

Also, fun fact, if someone didn't already tell you, the voice actor for Pike (Ashley Johnson) also voiced Ellie from The Last Of Us!

ThatOneGuy

Btw for those wondering about the curse Percy has I think it’s a fine print type bs where he asked I want revenge on the traitors so it will make no difference even if your forced into betraying or not at least that’s my take on it

Totally Thomas

Grog really was MVP this ep. Seeing Percy's demons (literally) for the first time was so badass!

gamerman1902

Damn Cassandra played the long game. I knew she would turn but she bided her time and literally betrayed them at the most opportune moment.

Asellian

Good reaction and good episode. See you guys tomorrow :)

Marquis James

Can’t wait for the next reaction! Love this series so much, so glad you guys are reacting to it

WHAT THE EARLY DROP IS GOING ON!? IM NOT READY BUT IM READY!!!!!!!!!! saw it yesterday and all i can say is: VINDICATION! cassandra didnt have me fooled for one second. with them for five years and she's NOT on their side? a hostage but she's not in chains or rags like say.......ANN!? and no one stopped to think......but yeah its vox machina lol the turn was bound to happen!

gabriel250c .

It's hilarious to me how Percy keeps threatening people with his gun and nobody is scared. He invented guns, therefore he has the only one in the world. Nobody knows what that weapon is Percy.

Smash Bran'Discootch

This episode was so freakin hype. Cassandra's situation is a combination of Mind Control and Stockholm Syndrome. The Briarwoods dont simply rely on magic. They are insidious, intelligent, and driven. Dont be sleepin' on Dr. Anna Ripley. She is, without question, one of the most dangerous people Vox Machina ever encountered. I think y'all might have missed it, but when Percy said "You've been busy..." it's because he pulled a GUN out of her bag. When HE is supposed to be the only one in the world with a gun because he invented it. It doesnt go into it in the show, but Ripley lost her hand in the process of trying to create a gun based on Percy's design. She's essentially the Nega-Percy. She is what Percy could easily have turned into. Yes, Grog is totally the MVP here. Diving into that acid would have literally killed anyone but him. So the show expects you to already understand what Residuum is because they've explained it already. When you take Whitestone and refine it, it turns into Residuum which can be further processed into Residuum glass. It is a substance that drastically augments magic and magical capabilities. The Briarwoods and Ripley didnt build the Ziggurat. They simply uncovered it and restored it. They pointed out earlier that ziggurats are used to contact gods. They've laid out all the information and expect you to realize that the Briarwoods goal was to use Residuum to augment the magical capabilities of the Ziggurat. See, the De Rolos didn't know the Ziggurat was there under whitestone. That's why they kept Percy and Cassandra alive and tortured them. They figured that as the youngest ones, they would know all the secret crawlspaces in the castle, all the little nooks and crannies that children find. So they kept them alive and tortured them hoping to find it.

Polygon

@smash sure but she’s not the only person he’s threatened. Everyone else that he points it at that hasn’t seen what it can do shouldn’t be shitting bricks. But hey, it wouldn’t make for a tense scene if no one cowered in fear during an interrogation.

Polygon

Ripley doesn’t get a whole lot of screen time in the animated series or in the actual campaign for that matter, but even so, imo she’s leagues more interesting as a campaign villain than Delilah and Silas for all the ish she does in the future and how cold and calculating she is as a character. Hopefully whenever the next arc gets animated they’ll find time to squeeze her mini arc in and do her justice.

LordTouchMe

Next episode they cast a spell of Increase Budget and its gonna be fucking LIT!!!!

Sylarkz

what is this show adapted from? id be interested in looking into it

Coatl45

It’s basically the demon just bending the rules so he can consume as many souls as possible.

Stinkmeiner

I know you guys missed it but when Percy was checking annas big she had a partially crafted pepper box(Percy’s gun). I think what ever is fuckin with Percy os fuckin with her too. Just a theory though.

KyleForged

Critical Role its a dungeons and dragons twitch stream and I'll let you know Im 54 episodes in and every episode is 3-4 hours long lol

Polygon

It's taken directly from Critical Role, a Dungeons and Dragons game run by voice actors. The Dungeon Master who runs the game is Matthew Mercer who's voiced a ton of popular anime/video game characters like Levi from AoT, and McRee from Overwatch. He actually voices Silas in this animated series. Grog's VA also does the voice of Roy Mustang from FMAB and coincidentally happens to be married to the VA of Vex who voiced Lust from FMAB and Kid Trunks from DBZ. Vax's VA is Gaara from Naruto and Captain Ukitake from Bleach. Pike's VA voiced Ellie in The Last of Us. It's arguably the reason why DnD has become so mainstream now. Big name celebs like Joe Manganiello and Vin Diesel have even come out and confessed to being long-time DnD nerds, especially Joe. Check out what he's done to his basement lol. Fair warning, games of DnD are quite long and each of CRs sessions are 3-5 hours so you've got quite a daunting task ahead of you to catch up, and the group is on their THIRD campaign atm. Just youtube critical role campaign 1

Polygon

@Smash Calm down, why so aggressive? It was a simple question. Can we NOT perpetuate the image of the archetypal Critter who spews pretentious Critical Role lore and spreads toxicity? People like you are the reason why the fandom is so divided, and why its reputation for toxicity outshines all its other redeeming qualities.

Smash Bran'Discootch

The aggression was absolutely justified. The dude was talking shit for literally no reason at all, and i stood up for myself. Because his reply wasn't necessary, and yet he left it anyway specifically with the intention of being a dick. "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" as the saying goes. The dude was a dick first and i simply met him in kind and yet you're jumping my shit over that? It has nothing to do with the critter fandom. It has to do with me not letting people be assholes to me for no reason.

Q

Don't know if it was mentioned or not but in one of the episodes earlier Scanlan ask who the last barrel was for, just a bit of foreshadowing

Polygon

Idk what you justify as "talking shit", but a question asking someone if posting an unprompted wall of text is grounds to "defend yourself", I feel like you're just on the internet too much and you're looking for problems.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Unprompted? This is a comments section. Specifically meant to talk about shows. Other people have posted comments just as long, and is Jaceyboy on every single one of those asking if they're necessary? No. Meaning that the comment was meant to be negative. It was rude and a dick move and i have enough self respect to not just sit there and let people be rude to me for no reason. And if you wanna talk about how it was "an unprompted wall of text", look on youtube for their reaction to Episode 5 of this show where Roshi specifically shouted me out for giving the background information about the show and said verbatim to all of us in the community "keep it up with the facts, i really appreciate it". So all of us who are giving big walls of information about the show are doing it because we were all asked to. They enjoy stuff like that. See, what it is is that you understand that you jumped my shit for no reason and you're just too much of a jerk to apologize. It's okay, I know you're wrong. You don't have to say it.

Smash Bran'Discootch

And you've just been jumping on my ass in all my comments, huh? You know, I'm starting to think that **you're** that "Toxic asshole critter stereotype" that you accuse me of being. They do say that people are often most adamantly against the things they hate about themselves the most. I think you're projecting, homie. You might want to take a few steps back and examine a few things in your life before you start attacking others. Are your unprompted replies when you weren't even part of the original conversation necessary?

BZD

Cassandra with the Cruella Da Ville hair color, of course she can’t be trusted.

Polygon

Cool your jets. Hurling insults and adding the preemptive "I know you know you're wrong but you're too much of a jerk to admit it" text only makes you look childish. I apologize for jumping the gun (pun intended), I wasn't aware that Roshi acknowledged the campaign info, but I do still think you escalated the situation from "harmless taunt" to "reddit/discord mod" levels of hostility for no reason. I also don't think I've been "jumping on all your comments"? IIRC, I've only replied to a single comment above adding my two cents on Percy's gun intimidation tactics, and to this comment. That's two comments. Our only real interaction was instigated by you under MY comment in quite a civil conversation on the episode 8 vid regarding how Anders' fight was adapted, so idk where this unprompted hostility came from. Maybe you're having a bad day? If so, I hope things get better for you. I'm also going to ignore your vitriolic rant about projecting because I know you're just saying things to try and sound superior and get a rise out of me, which is fine. Just calm down and in the future, try not to let your temper get the best of you.

Smash Bran'Discootch

You know, I will admit that hurling insults your way was childish and I do apologize for that. In all fairness, you did throw insults my way first, saying i was pretentious and toxic and that people like me are the reason why the fandom is divided, soooo I'm less sorry about it but I'll still apologize. Sincerely and with no level of sarcasm at all. I think that we see the original interaction between the first guy and me in different ways. In all fairness, Jayceyboy probably only meant it as a "Really bruh?" kind of comment. Which i do still see as jerkish but me telling him to fuck off wasn't really an escalation. Maybe that term carries more weight with you and we just have different perspectives on it? If thats the case, then i can kind of understand your initial reaction to it. For me, saying "fuck off" is like the least rude i can be while still meeting rudeness with rudeness. I didn't really see it as an escalation, but more a "meeting at the same level". Like i see the phrase "fuck off" as a "harmless taunt" to borrow your term. Though i believe our differences in perspective on that, you seeing it as an escalation and me not, lead me to feel like your response was totally unjustified. I see now that it was simply a difference in perspective and on some level a misunderstanding. But initially, i suddenly felt like i had two people lighting me up for no reason and i felt backed into a corner. Granted, I react very poorly when i feel backed into a corner. I definitely lash out. That is a failing on me, but if someone actually lays it out and fully explains their perspective, I can see where i've been wrong. I do apologize for the insults, but I do still feel i was justified in my initial response to the original poster. If you disagree, I will understand based on the perspective you offered.

Polygon

Yeah, no worries man/girl/they/whatever you identify as, it's all good. I admit I jumped the gun too by calling you a toxic critter so I'm sorry for that. I've been following CR since episode 10, and I love what it's done for DnD, but the Critter fandom can just be so unbearably BLEGH and I've had far too many interactions with toxic Critters over the years to the point that I've started distancing myself from the fandom entirely. Hope you can understand why my hackles rose as soon as I saw what I thought was unprovoked dickery by someone who seems to be pretty deep down the CR hole themselves.

Smash Bran'Discootch

I do understand. Once I took a second, breathed, calmed down and asked myself, "Okay, WHY did this happen?" and realized that it might be down to something as simple as a difference in perspective on the weight of the phrase. In the circles of people that I spend my time around, swear words are used very often so they don't really carry any weight with me. Once i realized that you thought I had intended to escalate, things started to make a lot more sense. I am glad that we were able to discuss it. Even if we still don't agree, at least we understand eachother's perspectives, and honestly thats all i ever really ask of folks. I do appreciate that. And i will FULLY admit that when i clap back, i clap back with more aggression than is probably called for. So you are absolutely right in that observation.

Tim Chaos

Ooh I recognize Cheshire from Young Justice’s voice actor! They got a lot of great talent on this

Polygon

My God, did we just settle an argument over the internet in a civil manner?! What's going on!!!

Isaac

If anyone didn't think much of Grog, think A LOT of him now. He is a real one. He didn't even flinch. He just stripped and went in and got it done. All the people in this party are great. Now about Cassandra. So she was playing the long game and once Percy finally came back she plotted to backstab him ( I know she's mind controlled but I think this is slightly different and more like Sylas is bringing up her pain and anger of being abandoned and letting her have free will with that pain constantly brought up to keep her motivated and be more convincing to Percy and the gang as herself than being a deadpan puppet ). If this is the case ... she's lucky because she was practically killed by Anders and only survived because of Kyleth. I doubt Delilah gave Anders permission to kill Cassandra like that unless she was playing 5D chess and knew they'd save her. Pike was missing at the time and she couldn't have known Kyleth had a method to heal a fetal throat slash. Can anyone clarify that part because if this backstabbing was planned, Anders was gonna fuck that up with his petty hatred. Another question: Can Pike feel any sensation of pain in that form or no? I assume she does feel sensations, otherwise she could have jumped in the acid and pulled the lever but that wouldn't have been as epic as Grog.

Isaac

If anything, she's lucky Kyleth even saved her life because she actually got her throat slashed. Doubt that was ever part of the plan.

Isaac

Jaceyboy can shut the hell up. If people wanna leave a long comment, they can. They paid for the privilege to do so on patreon.

SupremeCai

We could go on and on about who the voice actors are in this show haha good general rule, you've heard almost everyone from somethin at least once lmaooo

Isaac

I always thought her mind control was a bit different. Like she still has her awareness but Sylas' hypnosis is dragging up the pain and hurt of abandonment to keep her motivated that way she can remain convincing to Percy and the gang instead of roaming around like an obvious puppet like Vax. Then again Uriel was acting somewhat normal without Sylas being there, but everyone kinda noticed he was acting extremely irrational to Vox Machina. Can anyone clarify?

Polygon

In the original campaign and even in the QA for the animated series, Matt Mercer (the DM and Voice actor of Sylas) made it clear that although Cassandra was under Sylas’ Vampiric charms, a lot of it was also emotional manipulation, preying on her vulnerability, and Stockholm syndrome. The animated show obviously can’t get as deep into that because of time constraints, which is why it’s mainly explained as being part of the enchantment. In the campaign, Cassandra is emotionally messed up for a really long time and is still recovering from the trauma when it ends. Anders cutting Cassandra’s throat happens in the original game but it’s an Illusion. Vax was actually the one who discovered Anders and Cassandra when they first encountered him and he attacked Anders, prompting him to use a spell called Minor Illusion to make it APPEAR like he cut her throat. I can only imagine the show changed this for dramatic effect. Whether Pike can feel pain while projecting is up in the air and probably up to interpretation. The whole “astral projecting” thing was just how Matt would handwave Pike rejoining the party when Ashley Johnson would Skype in to play when she wasn’t away shooting the TV series Blindspot. Whenever Ashley would have to leave to shoot, Pike would leave the party to work at her temple or something else along those lines, hence why we got the mini subplot with Pike leaving and reconfirming her faith.

KRONE

grog turned this place into a beach bruh

Tabbs

does Sheera not understand that he thought they were going to die in that moment? It’s completely understandable to want to get things off your chest before you kick the bucket

Faiz Khan

fucking Chris Jericho

Paulothy

I've been enjoying the info you've been providing, bit this one felt a bit spoilery. I do feel the agressive reply was unwarranted as well, he wasn't attacking you it was just a simple question

Paulothy

Jesus, Grog had his eyes open in the acid and it looks like he was breathing it in too, absolute madlad. Also the fact that Pike can touch others and be touched in astral form makes me feel like that would be a very useful ability for sneaky links 👀

Drake Rage

That was cool. I always had suspicions on Cassandra... she literally never smiled at her brother (Percy) even during situations where she should be proud/happy for him, like when he gathered the courage to be the Leader of the Revolution after his buddy got chopped into two pieces.
