Yeah the Rocket arc is easily the weakest character arc since it focused way too much on the overall plot of the season instead of highlighting Rocket. The other character arcs actually allowed us to get more insight on the character in question.

We had hints in the main show that night wing and zatanna were a thing early season 2 since all the flirting between them in season 1, but I think the Rocket part is new as far as show lore goes lol

big ol DC comic fan here and I can say Rocket doesn't have a lot of deep history. This show is doing her justice. She was created by the legendary Dwayne McDuffie but hasn't had much time in the spotlight.

Nightwing and Zatanna still have good chemistry, I wish we had saw them more as a couple outside of their subtle relationship from the first season. Also, yeah the tie in comics confirmed all of Nightwing's girlfriends and that includes Rocket and Zatanna. Although with Rocket it's kind of weird because she seemed much older than him when they met in the first season. Nevertheless, the writers also confirm that Kaldur and Rocket have dated, wonder if they'll bring that up here lol. Lastly, I will say that that fight with Klarion seemed way more creative than what they did in Zatanna's arc.

Yeah Rocket and Zatanna really did feel like side characters in their arc, and even Kaldur while having more development in his, was kinda a side plot to the main plot with the prophecy and shit. I guess the megan/Connor and Artemis storylines got us hyped up for the arc lead characters to actually take main stage, but most of the arcs have had 2-3 plots that the leads just happen to be apart of

That was always my biggest bummer of season 2, I generally don’t mind how much they like to shuffle the cast around each season, but us not getting any on sceen follow up to dick and Zatanna was such a bummer for me after all the setup they had in season 1 But let’s be real, season 2 did Grayson dirty all around, he basically does nothing all season despite still being on the team

100% agree Roshi. As someone who's been enjoying the new 2 seasons more than most, they did Rocket vile with her arc. Her, Icon, and Static were some of the big names of Milestone, but here she played 4th fiddle to the apocalypse story, the Phantom zone story, and even an unnecessary fanservice ep for a whole other show (which was also stupid considering they don't even know if they're getting renewed yet so they should worry about worrying about their own unfinished plot points)

the rocket arc is only less engaging because there is less source material for the character. compared to most of the others there just aren't that many comics that feature her.
