Time to pull up on papa

Since from beginning i'm in Hyakkimaru side, for all i know he could kill everybody in that freaking domain to get his body back, or any human ou creature that gets in his way.

Sun

I can feel the stream.

Lola

Question for you Roshi: I'm curious, has the schedule changed? What is the new actual or upcoming schedule?

Dilyn Howard

There is nothing wrong with him wanting his body and being angry. The problem is how he is becoming more heartless with how he is acting. It is clear that the only thing keeping him from going crazy is Dororo. You saw how he was losing it when Dororo was about to die. He was bashing his body trying to free him, imagine if Dororo had died, he would start killing everything in sight.

ItsDualsona

The way I personally see it, he should be allowed his body back, but the way he is going about it in terms of releasing his anger is what the show wants to highlight. I don't think anyone is saying he should not get his body back, nor take revenge if that's the path he wants to go on, but blindly beating corpses bc your upset should not be the go to. I compare it to in a live action show when someone is on top of someone else bashing their head in for revenge and being enveloped in anger not realizing that they are killing them, that's just the vibe I get from it

R-Jay

I don't think it's like a matter of morality, it's the rage, and the hate. The line for what he's willing to do for his parts back don't matter. Remember they spared the good spider demon way back when? I think the more trash shit keeps happening to him the more willing he is to just fuck everything up for everybody.

Isaac

His behavior is starting to get out of hand. Regardless of your opinion that you think it's justified, it is extremely self-destructive and that's the problem the show is expressing. He's losing self-control and it'll get to a point where he'll end up accidentally hurting himself or worse Dororo. Every time he gets this upset, his sanity and humanity are at risk. Hyakkimaru hasn't had a proper upbringing so he'll react on base human tendencies which is extreme violence which you all clearly are fine with but once he gets out of hand at the wrong place at the wrong time I'm expecting Roshi and everyone else to suddenly change their minds due to the circumstances.

Nana

this whole comment is facts ngl even though imo hes justified but yeah its facts

Redu

I think initially it was just a pure thing of getting rid of evil and then getting his parts back was something unexpected, like a bonus. Now that he knows they have his body AND that his family sold him out he's developing anger and hate. That's how I'm taking it

Kami_Psy

I'm reading through the comments and they are dropping some big facts. It's not really about what Hyakkimaru has done, it's more about what they see him becoming in the future. What he's doing is perfectly justified but he is letting his anger consume him and that can escalate to him doing bad stuff in the future. It's completely fine for him to be angry but he shouldn't lose all self-control especially when all he really knows how to do right now is kill.

Brant Barber

He became less human in this episode because he killed the guy not the demon and he plans to go kill daigo and everyone else now

Liudmila Duk

day 16 saying that the trio react to kanata no astra

Omar

No one is in the wrong. You could argue that Hyakkimaru was less of a "monster" when he could only see colors and couldn't talk/hear/feel. Before this journey he never killed a human, but now on his path to reclaim his body he has, which might imply that he's on a slippery slope. He has a right to want to be whole, but I think one of the messages is to question if the end justify the means.

EmoBurrito

I agree with the first few sentences but other than that, Its a huge logical leap to assume if dorroro dies he would somehow because some evil "being" killing everything sight like come on now. Dorroro does ground him but ya'll be really acting like he has no moral compass and that he's some kind of mutt that doesn't have his own will. Im sure if Dororo did die he would be upset but he wouldn't become a serial killer lol

Dilyn Howard

I don’t think it’s a leap in logic to assume that, it has been stated many time in the anime that hyakkimaru will go ape shit on everything if something important to him is taken. Remember when the samurai killed Mio, believe me the samurai deserved to die for that that crap but hyakkimaru only cut off the man’s arm when he was threatening Dororo. It was only after he learned that Mio was dead that he when crazy and killed the samurai. He cherishes Dororo more than anything you saw that this episode when he was hurting himself trying to save him; so if Dororo were to get taken of worse killed hyakkimaru would lose all sense and start killing everything in his way just like when Mio died.

EmoBurrito

There is nothing wrong with him wanting his body back. Just like there is nothing wrong with his brother and the village wanting him dead. They both don't owe shit from each other. Their dad is the only one whose really at fault. Other than that, it really is all fair game. If he gets his body back the village and the people in it are fucked, if he doesn't then well he gets fucked by not getting his body back. At the end of the day the show is basically trying to portray "if the end justifies the means", and well that depends on the person if it does or doesn't.

EmoBurrito

Yes I do remember that he went ape shit on the evil people who did the act of killing mio, that in no way means he would go ape shit on "anyone". That's not a fair comparassion at all, your original statement makes it seem like he would kill INNOECENT people and that is a leap in logic. We've literally gotten no indication of that, killing people when your understandably mad, that were responsible of killing kids and mio does not equal him killing "everything in sight".

Dilyn Howard

Your missing the point of what I’m saying it’s his mental state that makes him go ape shit. Hyakkimaru didn’t even show a reaction until he learned that Mio had died, he only stood there with his same emotionless expression until he heard her dying voice. Than with how he is acting now he is show that if anything gets in his way he will cut it down. The blind man even remarks on how the embers of a demon god is being formed in Hyakkimaru’s soul. Than there is that cold response to Dororo’s question on where he was going at the end of this episode. What I am trying to say is Dororo is his only light but if that light is taken from him he will do anything to get it back. I am not say that he would go into town and start slaughtering people, I’m saying that if anyone gets in his way innocent or not he will not hesitate to kill them.

EmoBurrito

"if somone gets in his way, he will not hesitate to kill them" Throughout this whole story Hyakkimaru hasn't gotten violent or physical unless provoked. So again it is a logical leap to assume he'd try to kill them if they were "innocent". Unless you consider someone attacking him innocent, and by all means he has the right to attack them back. You and a lot of people in the comment section are just assuming he would go beheading innocent villagers, and the show hasn't shown that at all.

Dilyn Howard

Just watch episode 21, because it literally proves my point and how far he is willing to go.

EmoBurrito

Bro I just watched it, it didn't prove anything lol. Again he didn't attack any "INNOCENT" people.

Dilyn Howard

You are miss my point again I am saying that he will attack people if the they get in his way. The man in the episode was only trying to stop him from going into a war zone. You did you miss the menacing stare he gave the man and he said and I quote “don’t get in my way.” This shows that if that man had gotten in his way any further he would have killed him. What I am trying to say is his mental state is unstable and will give him tunnel vision only and he will kill what is in his way. If you don’t agree that is fine with me, let’s just both agree to disagree but I am done debating this.

EmoBurrito

Bro come on lets add some nuance to what happen. This dude has been constantly been attacked throughout his whole journey and some random dude approaches and touches him. So he intimidates him and he runs away. Again illogical leaps to assume he might become some serial killer lol. And yes if someone is stopping him from getting his body back intentionally, they aren't "INNOCENT" either.

Dilyn Howard

I said I am done debating this with you. It’s the middle of the night I’m trying to sleep and I can’t sleep with all these alerts on my phone. Look you have your thoughts on the situation and I have mine. We view things differently, so you keep your opinion of the situation I’ll keep mine.

DBJXXVIII

Roshi I had the exact same thought process as you when I watched this. No matter what the show was trying to tell the viewer I still don't see Hyakkimaru doing anything wrong like making his soul red isn't showing him doing anything that's actually evil imo

J

So like, how do these pacts between people and demons work? What possible reason would that demon need his help to do anything? How did they even communicate?

Kermit

This show basically wants Hyakkimaru to pull a Goku, forgive everyone and forget his body at this point. He's not doing anything wrong by chasing what was rightfully his. Said it once and I'll say it again, not his fault this clown tier province hasn't heard about fertiliser yet.

Isaac

I know that last part is a joke ... But just in case it wasn't. How hard agriculture is when it comes to nature working against you on a constant basis.

Kermit

Half joking. We now know that several ancient civilisations already figured out how to combat most agricultural challenges ages ago. No surprise some people would put effort and research into making sure one of their 4 basic human needs was always met and preserved rather than putting shit into the ground and crossing their fingers for good weather.

Ebube_Mx

It's been over a year since I first watched this show and rewatching it with you guys is such a treat. During my first watch I was actually getting a bit frustrated with the way the story and other characters treated Hyakkimaru for being angry and wanting his body back quickly. I and Roshi literally had the same thought process; I was like last I checked the rest of you didn't have most of your body parts sacrificed to demons.

The Endless

I don’t want hear a “nobody is wrong” type of argument here. Yes. Daigo was absolutely 100% wrong. Having good intentions and doing things for others is not a free pass and does not make you right when you sacrifice another for it. The ends do not justify the means. Now at least morally. Logically he did the right thing for his ppl but you can’t expect no consequence to come from such a fucked up deal. Also S/N for ppl who believe bro should just become the sacrifice, y’all realize he isn’t the only one to suffer bc of this deal for this lands prosperity. Those demons were out in the world on other ppls land and causing them pain suffering, so you can’t use the “sacrifice the one for the many” argument anymore, bc I’m pretty sure those 12 can/will eat their population number 10x over if they are allowed to live.

Indiah

i think the message not to lose yourself to your revenge
