I don't think you need to watch the movie or OVA before SG0. They have nothing to do with each other. In fact. the movie should be last in the watch order since it completes the entire story, so I'd say DO NOT watch the movie before SG0 (OVA is fine). The watch order should be finish SG > OVA > SG23B > SG0 > Movie

I love how we were introduced to this cast of characters as a bunch of goofy weirdos playing around. But now that the stakes are high, you just want them to succeed so they can go back to being goofy weirdos. It's like they're a slice of life cast that was suddenly thrust into a post-apocalyptic time thriller.

I guess it's possible that the guards could have looked for people had all of them hid since there might have been enough noise for them to actually search for people instead of just thinking it was their imaginations or the wind, risking everyone being found out. on the other hand, Okabe being out in an open would just make them think that he was the cause of the noise and wouldn't bother searching for other people that may or may not also be there.
