Can't believe Roshi was right the whole time about the pen thing but you wouldn't know it if you never listened to the audio dramas that came out alongside the episodes. Edit: For me the thing that immediately raised flags that something was up was the Comedy Duo's name being "Homosapiens". I was like, do humans exist in the wild like animals as a reverse of the norm?? How do they have a word for humans in a world where humans don't exist?

Gigguk did a really good video on Odd Taxi last year and in it he points out that it's pretty much a hardest anime to sell without spoiling anything. Most other shows, you can take a random clip or .gif of an awesome fight or a cute romcom moment and it will instantly get people's attention, but how do you convince someone to watch Odd Taxi without giving too much of the plot away? I skipped it last year for much the same reasons but watching it for the first time alongside Roshi and Sheera was great so I guess it all worked out.

That's 100% true. Unless it's a friend whose opinion you trust that tells you "I can't give anything away but you gotta watch this anime" it's really hard to sell this to some. When i've tried to convince others to watch it the only thing I can really say is "Just watch the first episode and you will be hooked"

Well it's not really a "movie" it's mainly 90%-95% recap of the series that shows a little of what happened afterwards.

I honestly can't think of a more overlooked anime in recent times. Considering how good it is and that I have yet to talk to anyone who has watched it and not thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yeah the killer girl slipt the phone in his car in order to give the GPS cordinates to tanaka (using a fake ditch-11 alias), so he would kill odakawa since he was the only one who knew her real identity from the time he drove her. Hes the only remaining link to her crime so she was the mastermind behind trying to kill him. The ending is a bit of a mystery because we dont know if odakawa is setting up the black cat to be caught, or if she has finally tracked down odakawa and is about to kill him. It could really go either way because im sure if he did recognize her, he woudlnt invite her into the cab unless he had a trap in mind. However since hes no longer affected by his visual anglesia, he may not have recognized her and she gets the drop of him. Its unknown if the villian wins or not.

The phone in the car scene is a bit expanded in the manga: Fake Mitsuya approached the wrong taxi (Tanaka's). Then, Tanaka asked her to place his phone in the car and she just agreed. Also, a movie came out this april. Is like a 2 hours recap but has 5 to 10 mins of new content that expand the series' ending.

I am pretty sure Odokawa never met the OG Mitsuya. When Odokawa was giving a bunch of rides to Yamamoto and the idols, he mentions driving one of them to their specific agency building (the one where OG Mitsuya was killed) awhile back. Yano is suspicious and starts requesting the dash cam footage to see who it was, but he never got it. I am pretty sure that the reason Odokawa doesnt recognize OG Mitsuya in the begining is because he never drove her, but instead, drove the Murder/friedchicken Mitsuya. But both of them looking alike and having the same name threw everyone off. And the night he drove the Murder Mitsuya, was the night she killed OG Mitsuya. That also answers why she was helping the DoDo guy, she was trying to get Odokawa killed considering he was the only one who knew Murder Miysuya was at the agency that night.

This anime was pretty amazing. Also, I don't know if Odokawa really got a happy ending here lol. It feels more like a cliffhanger since it looks like Sakura aka fake Mitsuya is trying to close loose ends by killing Odokawa. I'm pretty Odokawa dropped the fake one at the agency when she killed the real Mitsuya so she wants to eliminate any potential witnesses, I'm guessing

The final part goes like this! Yuki (girl who was killed) went there in a different taxi that night, BUT Sakura (killer girl) went there IN Odokawa taxi. So all this time Yamamoto and Rui were thinking that the dash cam contains a video of Yuki (girl who was killed) going that night in Odokawa taxi to reunite with Rui. But it was never like that, and because of that, at the end, Odokawa realices that the killer was in fact... Sakura (because he drove her that night).

Did he have a happy ending? That end is kind of ambiguous to me, like is she going to go psycho on him as well? Did he survive? I think they cut it off so no one would know unless it continues. very good show, thank you for sharing your reaction

The other thought I had was, does he recognize psycho girl at all? He was mostly guessing for people close to him about who they were, he could pick people out cause they were animals but now that they are human again.. I should look up if there's an epilogue

To clarify one of the questions you guys were left with ; The real vs the Fake Idol ; So it isn't said outright, but remember when the lead idol had her flash back? The real/now dead idol said the taxi fare would be huge as she had to come in from a VERY long way away. Odakwa doesn't do long trips, he stays in his local area routes. The real idol DIDN'T get in Odakwa's taxi. The one who got in his taxi was the replacement. "Its not her." Odakawa didn't drive the victim to the murder scene like everyone assumed. He dropped off the killer.

I had a feeling that cat was the murderer the moment she replaced The real Idol, but I am surprised roshi has been emphasizing importance on the pen that the little cop brother had on him and then it shows us that the murderer had the Pink pen with her by the end and that left me confused for how they are connected

I guessed the "twist" a long while back. Ever since it was established that he was just really good at remembering people, etc. I thought to myself, "maybe he can distinguish people so well because he's the only one that sees them as animals". Can't believe I was right lol. It made since because he could always tell by their silhouette, etc. But really good show, hidden gem for sure.

this show is amazing, it all makes sense because i was with sheera with the whole goofy thing and also the pen that roshi kept mentioning made an appearance at the end. i think he thought someone was in his closet because maybe he sees animals as humans? so he thought he had a girl in there. this show is amazing

The entire time I was watching this show, I was thinking "why are they animals? the fact that they are animals seems to have no signifigance or impact the plot in any way, why not just have them be humans if everything they are doing is mundane and in the world of humans? and how do they have pets if everyone is an animal? " It was really bugging me lol, It felt like this should have been a live action show. Until the reveal of course, then it made perfect sense.

I think he knew he had a cat in there, but when we awoke from his second accident and came to the realization that he was seeing humans as animals he worried was it really just a cat in his closet or could it have been a human he saw as a cat. When he got home he was relieved to see it was just a normal cat and not a person.

Just my guess, but I think the gun guy and the cat girl being connected is a misdirect. The cat girl had her own reason for leaving her phone between the seats, that reason being Odokawa admitted knowing about the previous Mystery Kiss member and that he was the only one who wasn't arrested that knew her secret. She was saying on the phone at the end that her only loose end was finding the taxi she took and finishing off Odokawa. As for the gun guy, he followed Odokawa home one night and broke into his car to leave the tracker. There shouldn't be any connection between gun guy and cat girl.

At the beggining of episode 5 at 2:25 of the reaction, you see the fake Mitsuya taking the GPS phone from Tanaka. Someone else said she got into the wrong taxi and met Tanaka who asked her to hide the phone for him.

As an aside, I think we got one shot of the 3rd idol as a human. She was in Goriki's office, right as you guys were talking about not seeing her.

not really. Odakawa realizes that she's the killer so it would not make sense for him to let her get into the taxi without a plan so it could be a trap he laid with the police to catch her. You could say he might not recognize her anymore after his vision returned to normal and thus leading to his demise inside the taxi, but I personally think it's a trap for her.

you guys really need to hear the audio drama that was released during the original run time of the anime. It adds to the experience even more. there are a lot of hints and extra stories inside the audio drama. you can find the translated version on youtube. It also explains the pen from the beginning.

the murderer left the phone there because she needs to kill Odikawa since he's a witness that ties her to the night the girl was murdered. she left the phone because she was with her manager in the car at the time and obviously can't kill odikawa then and there. The dodo boy just happened to come along and take the phone and placed a tracker there to keep tracking odikawa since he had his own beef. dodo boy and murderer have no association with each other. Odikawa took the murderer to the building the night the girl was murdered. Odikawa said that he has a hard time recognizing girls and idols because they all look the same to him (hince why all the young idols are literally cats)

according to reddit: in the manga, mitsuya got into tanaka's taxi by mistake. saw tanaka and was like "oh my bad, my taxi is the one in front". tanaka takes this opportunity to ask her to plant the phone for him and since she is a whole villain, she goes along with it hoping he will take out odokawa for her. i dont know how the conversation went down exactly for that to work but essentially, its all coincidence and not them working together from jump.

LOL, I was going to say that it looked like human hands/arms when they showed the flashbacks of the accidents a couple of times in the beginning of the show. I did not want to read too much into it and just let the story unfold, but it makes sense that we see them as animals since we watching from his point of view.

The whole Yano thing was probablg just him mixing in the fact that his hair is spiky like a porcupine's into his rap. Makes sense, people usually use metaphors like that in rap, and if he really does resemble a porcupine that makes sense for Odokawa to see him as one

Everything involving Tanaka was a big coincidence. That seemed to be his entire character plot line. A series of extreme coincidences and bad luck that tied him into the plot. He literally has nothing to do with anyone deeper in the plot.

Just came back to say I just saw the movie, to save you some time. In the cliffhanger ending part, the girl did try to kill odokawa by stabbing him in his taxi but he manage to fend her off and got injured then later got her arrested. Then afterward odokawa and alpaca girl goes on a date on a zoo. Happy ending for everyone as shown on the end credit scene with some snippet of photo of what happened to every character afterward except those who got arrested and dieded xD
