Honestly, magi's story might be pretty "generic shonen" but i don't think it does anything bad. And honestly the world is pretty A tier. I wouldn't put it up there in the detail with stuff like Mushoku, but it is super solid imo.

A republic doesnt require people to know how to lead. It requires people to elect someone who does, and whom they believe can fulfill their wishes. Its not perfect, as we can see today, but it could be an improvement.

Magi isnt a generic shounen. I dont know about you, but i haven't seen any other shounen that includes and talks about real world issues and politics. Most shounens are simply MC solving every problem with violence (Which isnt a bad thing, it can look very hype and badass but you get the idea). But even if you did say magi to be a generic shounen, remember that it was a show written back in 2009. Its not really fair to compare it to today's shounen shows. Back then, there is no such thing as "generic" shounen, just shounen.

When people say generic shounen, they generally mean it follows the coming of age story structure. Because shounen, like you said, can be a fairly broad catagory if you want to dive into it. Though the vast majority we see are the coming of age story structure, like Naruto, Bleach, BC, Magi, etc. An example of a shounen that isn't a coming of age story would be JJK, since it was implied from ep1 that yuji will most likely die. Though it is fairly close, kinda like a "coming to terms with death" story more than anything.

Nothing beats a good monarch though. Sadly corporations and most 'democratic' governments have brainwashed most of western society that 'democracy' is the only good type of ruling system out there. And good monarchs are hard to come by.

A "good monarch" is an oxymoron, and no monarchic system can guarantee against a "bad monarch". Neither can a republic or a democracy, but their pros outweigh their cons, unlike a monarchy.
