George

Good to have all three of you back, hope everything is well with Lupa <3

Sera

I was staring at my TV in disbelief while watching this episode.. Imagine some man telling you he only comes over to your house to fuck your son

Erica Collins

literally cause I was not expecting that. I was in so much shock i had to pause the ep

Xavier Ruffin

Y’all ever wonder if between recording they all run change clothes and come back to make sure it looks like it’s a different day

Ron H

This was a nightmare, and I mean that as a compliment. Craziest episode of anything I’ve seen in a minute

ActionAdam

Yeah honestly, this was eaaasily my favourite episode in the whole show. Doesn't anyone else lowkey wish The Sandman show was just epic 'what if' scenarios like this, with the Dream Lord as a function of the world where we witness psychological conundrums as opposed to all this wishy washy beef with Lucifer and other random story stuff? I thought that could've elevated this show to S-tier personally, way better than what it was anyway.

ActionAdam

That line sounds like it came straight outta Lupa's mouth LOOOOOOL I can legit hear him saying that shit in my head😂😂

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

This episode was so confusing at first with John's social experiment of his perfect world with no lies. Really shows his naive outlook, tbh I thought it hypocritical since wasn't he just removing their free will to act in ways only he thought appropriate? It's his truth not theirs.

NecDW4

Man, yall making that Emporium joke made me think you guys need to do a reaction to "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus.". It's the last thing Heath Ledger worked on before he died, to the point they had to finish it by replacing him with Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Ferrel. Also Tom Waits plays The Devil.

Professor00

Great episode! The comic book version is much more gruesome and horrifying but the show still knocked it out of the park!!

Eronthaboy

That's more like how it is in the comics, They have it more of an anthology series and sometimes follow other characters later in the comics, but the comics do have overarching plots but it's also just like "Look at this person going about their life in the comics, oh here's someone from a previous story to let you know it's in the same universe as the other issues." I get why they did the show like this though cause hoping back and forth in the like in the comics could be confusing to some folks. they wanted to tell a complete like "story" for the first season. so ppl can get in to the characters they introduce. cause some of the characters in this season only do small parts and stories in the comics. hopefully if they get another season they can do more of the "anthology" and have each episode be a different story or character

Coco

This episode definitely grew on me watching it a second time with you guys, gave this episode a B+ during the first watch and now its an A.

IzanagiAce

Nah "Sinister Sex" is wild lmao 😂

Nightshade

John thinks lies are bad but he doesn’t know that not all lies are bad

Ichigoat

The endless from oldest to youngest is Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire, Despair and Delirium so the person at the end was one of the last four because they said big brother

Ranginald Vagel

I'd really appreciate if we went back to earlier uploads, it was really nice being able to catch up on a day throughout the day

Ron H

Yep, and technically all dreams are lies since they are things that haven’t happened yet. John did not account for that in his lil experiment

IzanagiAce

I was at work on my lunch break when I watched this episode and my jaw literally hit the table lmao

Shiroja

My friend was listening to the audio book and he said that in the diner scene it was a lot worse because he said there was a lot of necrophilia going on. I was like yeahhhhh that isn't going to be shown on the tv.

Jaelyn Mcgee

The episode is so good, but the comic it's based off of is even darker. In that one Marsh did have an affair with Bette and willingly drove his wife to drink herself to death once she found out. On top of that he fucked her son for a pack of cigarettes while they were both in a Gotham prison. Karen is a necropiliac and tells a story about a time she fucked a corpse and how sex with her husband just isn't the same since. John causes a kids show host to slit his wrists on air, and all sorts of fucked up shit because his Ruby is affecting the entire world

Abigail Clark

i cant wait for you guys to see the next episode. Personally my favorite out of the whole season

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

That's what makes the ending even better with Morpheus' perspective on dreams/"lies". Dreams aren't fact they're "lies" we want to become true they give purpose and hope.

It has been maybe. . .10+ years since I read the comic and I had to go back and re-read to make sure my memory wasn't sick.

Mozart Waddell

If they ever need a casting role for Mad Jim Jaspers. I hope he gets it.

Carlos

I didn't appreciate this episode the first time around. Found it disappointing because I kept comparing it to the much more fucked up source material, but on revisit it's pretty damn good. David Thewlis is such a fantastically creepy actor.

Mozart Waddell

Lindy and that one waiter from JJK is the luckiest people in television entirety.

delete

Are you feeling it now Mr Krabbs

KyleForged

I know content creator groups who would do that. Theyd film a bunch of live action stuff all at once and switch shirts between the episodes and occasionally someone would be like Nah I don't want to and they'd comment on how they've been wearing the same clothes for 5 weeks straight.

slipHAZARD

lol Sheera out here with 2k in theories while wearing clown shoes 😂🤡🤣🤡

Kisuke01

This episode is the equivalent to the Woodland Critters episode of South Park just sick chaos

rickie woodson

dont know if its my favorite ep of the season i definitely think its the most well done. from acting to directing and camera work, it was all so so good. oh and of course the incredible writing and real life ethical/moral dilemma of always telling the truth (im on the side of complete honesty. lying is for the birds)

Oliver

You know that is a very accurate description gonna be fun

Damarcus Miller

WE BETTER GET A SEASON 2 Netflix 🤬 this episode was 10/10 WRITING 🔥

rickie woodson

best story arc has ended. now on to the filler/prologue for arc 2. you are in for a treat with eps 6 and 7 as we find out who that was at the end of this ep

rickie woodson

all lies are bad. lies = bad. truth = good. its really that simple. why do you humans make life complicated? we need avaril lavigne for this generation

rickie woodson

i thought death was the oldest? "i was there at the beginning and i will be there at the end" that is what she said in the comics

Oliver

Yo guys the son is 21 he can do what he want, if you can join the army at 18 you can do whatever you want at 18

Christian Acosta

Because not everything is black or white. Lies can be good and truths can be harmful depending on the context. It’s really not that hard to grasp.

Oliver

It crazy how the fates told him that he would: "Take all the dream lord's power and crush it in his hands". They make the future come true

MorahBieno

Yeah, I would say in terms of the comic comparison, I gotta give it to the comic, but it's done in a way where I can really appreciate what they were doing and what they were trying to adapt. Very good episode!

Lamaree Jackson

Trapped in the Diner by R. Kelly. Crazy episode

Reckless Company

ayooo this got dark and creepy so fast like lol

Maleny

This is never stated in text, but I assumed the odd way John talks - slowly and purposefully - is because he thinks extra hard about every word he says. His entire villain arc is based around a hatred of lies and mistruths, so it stands to reason he spends a little extra time to make sure he doesn't say something he doesn't fully mean.

Maleny

Also really looking forward to the next episode. I remembered Hob Gadling being one of my favourite stories in the comics and they really did a good job adapting it.

PeachBrune

LMAO when roshi and gang think hes mad about her forgetting to take his order, but in reality dude is just vibing his crazy ass in the corner plotting

Ichigoat

She meant the beginning of all life. Mortal life basically. The endless are older than life in the universe

Gevere

Same as Carlos, watching those videos really helps get back into show I initially gave a pass.

Gevere

Yeah Ive had a bit of a hard time deciding how I felt about the show in comparison to the comics. ive been re-reading the first issues and overall the two mediums just give a wildly different vibe in the writing. That being said, I like how they expanded on the characters of the diner as the comics is a bit brief in its first stories but the fact that they ended that storyline in the show with the bloody ending of the comics doesn't come off quite as natural. The shift is pretty sudden and I don't see how forcing to commit suicide with the jewel would reveal "the truth" even by john's logic. Also, and that's my biggest gripe wtih that adaptation, Morpheus is much nicer in spare instances but they stil try to capitalize on his crualty and scary presence by replicating scenes frome the comics. These ideas kinda cancel each other imo

Jaelyn Mcgee

Yeah, I was first introduced to the comics via the 24 hour diner fan film and just recently been working through the comic issues and Im almost near the end. The narration of the various characters inner motivations for me is a big part of what makes it so good. and I agree, since we don't really get to see Morpheus be genuinely cruel in this version in a lot of moments because its been either adapted out or shown much later, he mainly just comes off as cold, uncaring and unintentionally hurtful in a lot of interactions. I wish we could have been shown his interactions and treatment of Nada, as well his treatment of others just to show how cruel and terrifying he can be or that he really didn't care about the damage and death John caused, simply that he'd gotten his powers back.

Drake Rage

It'd make sense if the person at the end was Destruction, since he was smiling while standing in the midst of all the destruction.

Ebronics

Desire reminds me of the cheshire cat.

Foxyguava

the best is when sh misinterprets a question that is answered right in front of her face with a ton of detail... but I can't hate on it too much. I rather have an overactive thinker enjoying the show lol

ChickenDinners

Facts I loved the anthology nature of the comic. I also hope they lean into that more in season 2.

K. Unknown

yeah it was legit shitty to string her along while he was banging her son but it's not like they weren't both adults who were into it at least that detail WAS easy to miss though in all fairness, get distracted for that one line and that whole part of the episode seems WAYYYY different

K. Unknown

can't believe the first ever true AI showed up in yaboyroshi's patreon comments to be hilariously wrong about the concept of lying, historians are gonna have a field day with this somewhere down the line

K. Unknown

i'm thinking season 1 kind of needed to set up a lot of worldbuilding and just get the stage ready basically, especially for people who have zero knowledge, so hopefully season 2 will widen the focus more (not that it wasn't a really good season but yeah the anthology aspects were a lot less present, just hoping that's because it's basically the beginning) *edit: and i scrolled by Eronthaboy pretty much saying literally what i just said. clapped MYSELF in the comments today

Taz @kuruk#2983

Damn I’m dumb dumb didn’t notice that was rose on the phone

ChickenDinners

I mean the son and Marsh are consenting adults but it's weird to hear that directly to your face as a parent.

Sunshine Hall

I wish I could've gotten a trigger warning about this episode 😭
