Another banger!

Cephandrius

I wish we got more of dream and Robert this was my favorite episode by far

Samke Dladla

This is a very delayed response but Death doesn't actually say one Lifetime until later in the comics when Delirium and Dream are looking for the prodigal.

Coco

Death is also Life, that's why they all seem to recognize her, she was at their birth, so it's fitting she'd be at their end too.

Charlie baker

I do wish theyd given the actress kirby more drip then just deaths ankh necklace since the comic version inspired by cinnamon hadley had dope contrasting lipstick and an under eye eye of horus tattoo plus punk rock clothes. She also kinda rushed through some of deaths more iconic lines like the put the chairs on the table line so it loses a bit of the impact it had for me. But overall Kirby did a great job as Death and even if she didn't quite nail Death perfectly she still brought the great liveliness and compassion to the character that Death is known for which made this a fantastic and heart touching episode.

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Imagine being so lucky to just say, "I'm not going to die." in the presence of the personification of Death and Dreams and they're like, "how about a wager?" Immortality would be so hard to hide towards the modern day if a random nosy passerby can catch you in the 1800s.

zILovePelmeni _

so they didnt notice that the fish eye lens is always there?

Mozart Waddell

Death is the nicest and most caring out of all her brothers and sisters. She's the only one who does not have limits on her powers and can basically do whatever she wants. Out of all the endless she's the only one feared by the gods.

Mozart Waddell

The scene of the infant death got to a lot of reactors. The music, dialogue, and montage of her reaping people was beautifully done. I wish you guys could've seen her reap someone who was wicked. Her whole demeanor changes. She will not speak to or even acknowledge you if you were a terrible person before you died. You get no comforting embrace from her.

begang 99

wow she didnt mention destiny. is destiny that crazyy??? 20:05

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Robert is honestly lucky imo (I'd also like to see how far humanity goes just in technological advancement). If Dream didn't make the deal to meetup guranteed every 100 years I'm sure he would've gave up at least in those terrible 80 years. That became his one stable anchor their friendship.

Teyon Alexander

This is probably my favorite episode, as Death is my favorite among the Endless.

Yanpo

No matter what happens in his life, that meeting will always be something positive that he can look forward to.

James

It's actually very true to Deaths appearance in her first issue. The eye of horus is a later addition from Season of Mist and the lipstick isn't really that pronounced in issue 7. Personally I think Baptiste did a phenomenal job and couldn't imagine a better choice. Can't wait for Breif Lives for the "You get what everyone gets" line

James

Fun fact: All the slang used in the Victorian scene in this episode is accurate to how sex workers actually spoke. Drain of pale means a pale brandy, and Lushing Lou was an actual sex worker from the time.

Branden Jenkins

Though I choose not to watch this series due to certain controversies I have to agree that Kirby did do a good job in her portrayal of Death; even though I would rather have a more accurate appearance of the character/ the woman she was based off of (Cinamon Hadley).

Charlie baker

Yeah it would have been nice considering cinamon passed away just a few years before this was filmed

Legion

This is probably a good episode to suggest watching Baccano! an anime about mafia gangsters, train robberies, and immortals. Gotta watch the dub tho. It has to be the dub

Erik Miller

Desire is non-binary which absolutely makes sense. Also the actor didn’t even need to audition, they just called Gaiman and asked for the part

Randle Dandle

I hate to be negative but episodes five and six are kind of the peak of this season.

Quincy

It’s funny when you think about how Death was there when Roderick Burgess died in the first episode and didn’t try to help Dream.

Charlie baker

As I understand it destiny is the eldest of the Endless and by his name his reach extends from begining to the end of time in keeping watch over everything that has,can or will happen

KeYo

i would be so hyped if i got to live forever since like the 1200's i would get to meet all them historical figures. also sheera asking what the guy was doing when he drowned lol.....idk swimming? like did she not notice everybody was swimming? lol maybe she could have used her drug belt to help him LMAO

Randle Dandle

AHHHH They hadn't added it when i binged the season. Those stories were amazing in the comics though.

reeb

desire is non-binary (as well as the actor) which makes sense for the character, they're def gonna be a problem but they're so attractive so all the red flags immediately go out the window

Lamaree Jackson

She asked that because people who know how to swim usually don’t just go into the water and drown. Especially not water that everyone else around them is perfectly fine in. So she wondering why someone who (she assumes) couldn’t swim was doing in the water. Happens all the time. Like every news report in my area about someone drowning says they fell off a boat and couldn’t swim. Like why were you out there

Lamaree Jackson

So since Death can see when people are gonna drop dead and when she needs to come back for them, did she give that guy immortality knowing that he’d always be around to be her brother’s friend?

Professor00

I don’t know if you guys caught that one of the “exceptions” to Death was Mad Hettie, the old woman who was friends with Morpheus. She claimed she was 280 years old in the Johanna Constantine episode and this pretty much partially explains why. Again, another great episode mostly faithful to the source material that knocked it out of the park!

Caramel Martian

Sam wasn't swimming. You can see a blue kayak overturned in the background when the camera pans to death

Kevin

Loved Death in this episode. Rewatching this, I’m wondering if when she reaped Roderick Burgess she just stopped and looked at Dream in his cage and was like “damn…that’s crazy”

Morgan Crane

No joke, I live in the UK, we've got a pub here that was built in the 1500's. Places like that absolutely still exist if you know where to look.

MDLNubes

Damn!! Lucifer isn't the only sibling who is slaying

PeachBrune

The emotional weight these episodes carry is something serious, I love the open ended questioning of different aspects of life and death and how you might process it. 10/10 show, netflix would be buggin to not renew this for at least for a season 2

Sebastian Stróż

I have no idea if it's at all connected but Death eating apple reminded me of Ryuk from Death Note.

CrackerJack

I’m actually astounded by how in the back of my head when they got the 1989 meeting you can hear a guy making the “hunting for rabbits” joke that was made around the beginning

rickie woodson

i wonder why they never say her name. in the first episode they said it tons but here not even once. i can understand in the beginning keeping it a secret so we have that reveal. but after that? what was the point?

Grelk

What? When was it stated lucifer was one of the endless?

rickie woodson

its obviously shakespeare lupa. a playwright named "will"...........

rickie woodson

pretended to be his own son like kingo in eternals.

Charlie baker

Yall catch Geoffrey Chaucer in the background talking about how he likes writing rhymes and stories about pilgrims, hes the well known author of the Canterbury Tales collection of short stories detailing a group of pilgrims on a holy journey and their secrets and is a very famous father of english literature

13

I was under the impression that "learning from mistakes" was referring to the whole slavery thing

Kwame Afriyie

Lucifer isn't a sibling. Lucifer is actually an angel. All the sibilings have D's in their name. Dream, Death, Desire, Destroyer, Destiny, Despair, Dilerium

Foxyguava

lol word... i mean probably everything in his life too, but 99.9 % of that was about the overtly douchebaggy decision of slavery

Alex2882

“The drug belt”

delete

are they cool though. or is it like. . .racist/elitist?

Mozart Waddell

I wonder the next time Dream visit him will the Earth have become a Type I Civilization

Quincy

I’m pretty sure she only meant for the immortal characters.

NecDW4

"Drug Belt" was exactly the kind of laughs we needed to take the edge of that baby. God bless Sheera and Lupa.

NecDW4

"Bro, who's writing these episodes? LUL dang Roshi, IDK, definitely the guy who wrote the comics. LOL

Sunny

This is based off Neil Gaiman's comic books. The first season was book 1, and there's still a book 2 so I'm assuming we'll at least get a season two to cover the second book

Ragdefender2

Did you know that Lushing Lou was an actual person? Even the backstory of her being raped and abandoned is also apparently accurate. Check out the tweet from the "Whores of Yore"!

Drake Rage

Wait so someone was saying that the "Constantines" have always been arrogant when we were getting mad at the one we first met in present time.. So the Constantines have always been arrogant and *idiotic* and somehow have not died off? LMAO. The present-time Constantine was being so damn arrogant, too bothered to lift a finger to help Dream when he was saying he needed his shit back so that he could SAVE countless Humans and the Dreamworld... and here we have her ancestor centuries ago walking in with 2 dudes thinking she can strong-arm "The Devil" into giving her immortality? WTF LOL. Yeah, I need an explanation why none of the Godlike beings that they have ever messed with have never just went "I've had enough, foolish human" and just ended the whole Constantine Lineage... I would think the saying "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" fits them.

Ebronics

if you go back you notice that the 1389 and 1989 background conversations are all the same. some one is talking about the end days, revolution looming, war, plague. it really drives home the point that though things change a lot of the worlds issues stay the same or at least return. whats the saying "history doesn't repeat itself but it rhymes"

Drake Rage

Death implied that Desire is one of the "twins" so I think when Desire said "our plan failed" it could be the other twin, whoever they are, worked together to imprison Dream. I agree with Roshi in the ending discussion. Y'all thought living 100 years was going to be bad? I would be more than happy to stop aging and live for a couple of centuries at least, LMAO.

Vincent Samuel Price

Guessing they didn't include it cos it would've come across goofy as hell but when the baby died in the comics it asks "is that all i get" and death says something like "you get the same as everyone else, one life" which is why she said "i'm afraid so" after picking them up.

raben konig

Ye, that was the first thing I caught there, along with Shakespeare and the two popes shenanigan.

Davon

Maybe I missed it but I thought she said she was a witch and I assume that's why she's so old.

Morgan Crane

Well... in the comics there was that time John Constantine blackmailed God into guranteeing him a spot in Heaven, under the threat that John would simply conquer Hell and start letting the damned run loose. So, the answer to that question is: "Because it wouldn't do any good."

Morgan Crane

In the first episode they were talking "about" Dream. How often do you use someone's first name when it's a conversation between just the two of you?

Muse of Salzburg

Absolutely loved this episode, I love when media takes a positive stance on immortality, instead of the whole “mortality is what makes life worth living”, bitch, you take a look at this man and tell me that again

iCY

is this show a prequel, sequel or anything? Do I need to watch anything before starting this show?

The Seven Deadly Sins

Nope. This show is a new thing made from the comics. It's pretty close to the comics too from what I hear. I'm definitely going to check out the comics soon.

The Seven Deadly Sins

This is one of my favorite episodes in this season. It's so good. The whole show is too.

Drake Rage

Dream said Lucifer was the 2nd Strongest being after God, so if Constantine can conquer hell does that mean he is stronger than Lucifer? lol. Even Dream was imprisoned for nearly a Century, but we have no way of imprisoning Constantine?

Antonio

All the major beats of the story are here. The comic just has a way more 90s feel to it and is darker. but all in all it's a fantastic adaptation

BlackSheep

William Shakespeares name was spelt 80 different ways at his time "Shaxberd" was one of the variations. It's weird how much pronunciation has changed over the years. The word five was once pronounced "feef".

Sauce Sorcerer

That whole, "I came back as my son" thing would probably be pretty much impossible to do in in today's time. I wonder how Hob would continue living for another century without raising any suspicion.

Jia Hu

he'll probably end up on on a lab table within 50 years if we're being realistic

Professor00

She may be a witch too. I can’t remember that part I just remember that she’s one of Death’s “exceptions” as well, like Hob.

Corey Leach

Bro lived all this time but probably aint learn no type of fighting skills. If i lived that long, I woulda learned at least like 10 fighting techniques on top of other skills.

Brobi-Wan Kenobi

Pretty sure Hob knows how to fight considering he was a soldier for, at the very least, over 100 years as well as a bandit.

Samke Dladla

I think it would actually be easier. We live in much bigger cities and many people don't even know their neighbour's. It'd be much easier to move through life unnoticed.

YeagerBmb

Gods of death like apples.
