You gotta remember that some Stands have abilities that are automatic with a lot of range like in Part 5 the dude that Giorno killed early on had an ability that involved the lighter he used while he was in prison. Those abilities usually have a set condition they follow since the user can't control it.

Another one is the Notorious Big stand. Which literally required the user to die and the stand essentially was on auto from there. Strong stand but I wouldn't want that for one lol

Sheer Heart Attack also ignored distance limits. what they all had in common was that they all get a simple goal and the user doesn't get direct control after release. In exchange, the stand becomes unbound to the user.
