My man Thorfinn is literally an empty shell

Comments

eren1320

My man thorfin is in his life is pain the only constant is suffering faze

Devin B

A life with no purpose is no life to live and Thorfinn is experiencing that firsthand. I don't blame him though cause everything he did up until Askeladd died was all for nothing to him since he can't fulfill his goal anymore.

Pudge

I think Einar's behavior around Arnheid was more Japanese etiquette than fishing for compliments.

Luffy_77

MAAAAAN im mad asf, they just could not give us 2 more minutes, and I was hyped for the next scene

Alex2882

Vinland saga is just so beautiful

Mari

Am I the only one who liked WIT animation better then MAPPA animation for this show ?

Mari
>>100270748

Really ? It looks different to me but I might be trippin 🤷🏽‍♂️

kagamiluvr

love thorfinn so much

Mari
>>100270748

Guess I am😂, let me go to sleep and then rewatch it tomorrow to see if I’m just tired

NecDW4

Im gettin real sick of these 7 minute long episodes. LOL

NecDW4

LOL i caught that one frame green screen insert of you guys. 🤣

Theo Vorster

For those who are interested in reading along with the manga this episode adapted the remainder of 57 (the last 13 pages), all of chapter 58 and the majority of chapter 59 (specifically 23/32 pages). The passage of time isn't always super explicit in this arc, but the fact that the farms are harvesting their wheat crops now is meant to indicate it's now Autumn in Jutland (which is where modern-day Denmark is located), hence why Einar said he arrived in the Summer (it's been a couple months since Einar arrived at Ketil's farm). Also good eye for picking up on the implications of what Arnheid being Ketil's "personal" attendant slave entails. What's been neat about this arc's animation so far is how the focus in the character animation is now on the little details (or making scenes with numerous background characters less static) instead of action, creates distinct feel to the flow of the scenes compared to the previous season.

EZ

oh roshi with your simple minded predictions lol

Theo Vorster
>>100267405

Thorfinn also subconsciously realizing he didn't completely hate Askeladd (who had essentially become a second father to Thorfinn) also definitely contributed to Thorfinn becoming supremely fucked up by Askeladd's death.

Devin B
>>100267405

@Theo Vorster exactly cause when you think about Thorfinn spent more time with Askeladd than his actual father. He primarily hated him but down the line he probably did look up to him in a weird way.

Danny

ngl i wouldve understood Thorfinn BUT he still has a mother and a sister to return to. he literally has a home to go back but he acting like theres nothn to live for and that nothing good happened to him. Yes, his life was tough. Yes, he realized all this time he has been pursuing something meaningless. But its like he pretends he dont got nobody else to live for when he has a sick mother waiting for his return. Ofc, if he was in a foreign land and unable to return thats also understandable. BUT he knew Leif was around the area and he knew his family is still alive but sick. And yet, he somehow ended up a slave. I dont want to hate on Thorfinn cuz hes one of my fav characters but its kinda ridiculous how he rly trying to portray himself as losing everything when he has a family waiting for him and hes actively choosing not to return. I get he needed time to process but man, go home already.

Theo Vorster
>>100277175

I mean Thorfinn being a slave now literally means he can’t go home. And Thorfinn doesn’t have the drive anymore to try to escape. Like we already saw in season 1 that Thorfinn chose his attachment and obsession with Askeladd over the chance to return home with Leif. Askeladd in all manners, was literally the most important thing in life to Thorfinn, so it shouldn’t be any surprise he is completely empty and lost afterwards now.

Joshua

When i see this thorfinn it makes me think of how his dad looked episode 1, just utterly disinterested in the world.

Arc
>>100278075

What? His dad was always smiling. The only time he got unhappy was when dude with the chains brought war to his village (and later Flokki). Thorfinn is on a journey of becoming his father but right now he's still a warrior who needs a sword.

ogking31
>>100277175

Askeladd is actually the most important person for him after his father died. Obviously in a negative way of obsession. Hence he never thought about his family even when he looked at the dagger that he took from thors. It was all about thors and his words.

RunAwayCloak

This is thorfin now a pussy this made me drop the whole manga

YoungMaki
>>100278075

No that’s totally different. His dad was disinterested in war and violence. Thorfinn doesn’t care about life at all

YoungMaki
>>100272708

The manga is amazing ngl it’s crazy how consistently good it’s been for years

RunAwayCloak
>>100280789

I don’t watch shonen that much calling me a meat head I read all the way past farmland arc to the Vinland arc chapter 179 shi was mad boring he had great character development just not what I hoped for not a bad manga just wasent my cup of tea

Arc
>>100280789

He's way more badass right now than he was in S1. I don't know what people enjoy about screaming 15-16 year olds. That's actual character development.

Mr. I Like Spam
>>100280789

unsure how getting cut and having half your ear cut off and making no sound or giving no shit makes makes you a pussy but sure you do you caveman

Hafakasi

Thorfin better pop off soon cause his starting to pmo 😮‍💨

Mad4Life

Hopefully Farmland Saga starts filtering all these room temperature IQ people out like Chainsaw man part 2.

Erd'na
>>100284331

People need to understand Vinland Saga is not a Shonen but Seinen series.

Safire
>>100270060

I have read the manga, and literally cried so much. The story telling is so good, there is still so much that needs to be covered from the manga (I dont spoil). I cannot wait for more episodes.

KeYo

did roshi forget pee is hot? it comes out the same tempature your body is. so if its steaming its probably chilly outside or his body tempature was high lol i think roshi might be a ghost lmao

Alexander Szabo

Yeahhh so you’re just going to kill your dad’s/boss’ slaves? He paid good money for Thorfinn and Einar, and they just wanna kill em? That’s one reason it’s a bad idea

Alexander Szabo
>>100288481

Yeah I mean it’s probably a bit chilly in the morning. It seems like it might be between Summer and Autumn.

Fizzy
>>100284331

nigga it not everyday action get of here with that energy

2Ker
>>100277175

Thorfinn has lived with Askeladd and tried to kill him for longer than he lived in Iceland, he's completely broken and suicidal. At this stage he basically doesn't even remember his family exists.

Cody
>>100277175

Pretty sure thorfinn can't face his family after all the things he's done and families he's destroyed. And the fact that he chose askeladd over them probably adds to it

Chikᶠⁱˡa

Some of yall are disappointed cuz Thorfinn doesnt "pop off". Lmao we r only 3 episodes in and yall know what happened in s1 that made Thorfinn like this. Regaining a purpose in life isn't 1 2 3 kids

Dale Cooper
>>100280789

Is this Rob from RT TV? Fucking awful takes you guys should make a channel just to solidify the shit.

Dale Cooper
>>100285697

It's like when berserk went a bit "calmer" and focused more on fantasy. I'd like to think eventually these folks grow out of the edgelord phase, but you never know.

Alex2882
>>100270060

Can’t wait to see Hild character development, literally one of the best female characters I’ve seen in the industry

Hafakasi
>>100284331

Not much of a manga sorry. But I’ll happily watch the the first season of Vinland saga again cause I recall that’s all Thorinn wanted. Revenge!

raben konig
>>100284331

Thorfinn never got his revenge. It was taken from him. Of course he's an empty shell now, what he was living for ended up meaning nothing. Revenge is a poison

Alellion
>>100277175

I may be slightly off, but I believe when Thors and Thorfinn left, Thorfinn was only around 6-8 yr/o. It's highly likely that he really has no memory of his mother and sister other than that they exist and vague/foggy recollections.

Theo Vorster
>>100288849

Also to give context how much Olmar would be in debt to his father, according to Yukimura (the mangaka of the series), buying a slave in that setting is like the equivalent of buying a car today in terms of cost (and illustrates how loaded and profitable Ketil and his farm is.

Joel Braaten

Snake is one of the best characters in this arc.

Acen Yang
>>100270060

When "that" scene with hild happens, I pray they play the ost that was playing in the background of askeladd's death. It would hit so hard.

MC zsn
>>100284331

sorry to break it to you, but thorfinn doesn't pop off ever again

Rami Homsi

Thorfinn got that ultra-depresion going on rn, it's hard to watch him be this way, but I'm excited for him to find a new purpose in living

Sosuke Aizen

Ofc their scared of Snake lmao, besides Thorfinn he’s the only one on the farm that can actually fight. I’m excited to see the rest of the manga animated and my favorite content creators react to it.

Ron H
>>100288481

Hey man idk ab you but I pee inside, into a toilet, where it’s 70 degrees. Piss steam is not a very common occurrence

Erick Tejada
>>100288481

bruh its 40 here in LA and if u piss in the cold outside u will see steam coming because of the cold air

KeYo
>>100288481

peeing into a toilet is not the same as peeing outside when its cold lol . how about this ? pee into a cup and then pour it on your hand or pee on your feet you will see lol

KeYo
>>100288481

well of course you gonna see steam if you piss in 40 degree weather.....because your pee is hot.....how about this? use google? because if you guys dont know that pee is warm/hot then use google i guess lol

Esperance Adzem
>>100277175

I get your point but depression will legit make you feel like you have no one and nothing to live for. It's truly scary

DeAnthony Gary

Istg that episode felt like 10 mins 😂 they woke up got taken away an then sliced

Franklin wasn't getting away with 35mil scott free
>>100619861

He's got his arms, got his hands He's got his fingers, got his legs He's got his feet, he got his toes He's got his liver, got his blood Got life, he has life. But more importantly, he has a family he decided to abandon out of his selfishness. He was a child though so it's understandable, yet he still retains the childish mentality due to trauma. Einar literally just lost his family, livelihood, and home; yet he can still value life. Thorfinn is ungrateful, but he'll learn.

Imma torb main
>>100522847

You’re really calling thorfinn ungrateful after all we saw him go through? You clearly haven’t experienced any actual traumatic events, you don’t just “get over it and be grateful”

Quinton Campbell
>>100522847

late to the party but it doesn't seem like anyone was here in the first place lol sorry your senseless speech only got one like (that was probably by you)

Drake Rage

I am still at the ear chopping part, but I hate how this show tortures the audience... even the 1st Season the "main characters" were getting brutalized, first Thors was such a great guy that had to die to save his son, then his son was groomed and taken advantage of by Askeladd. Askeladd then died by himself which led to Thorfinn no longer having a purpose in life... like.. the main character has been going through hell since the start of the series, and it hurts to watch him suffer, but at the same time I was legitimately pissed off at Thorfinn for becoming a loyal dog to his father's killer just so he could get to spar him... got played so hard by Askeladd man.

Eliana
>>102434610

Bruh fr, like idk how Thorfinn started caring for askeladd, cause I was deadass cheering at his death 💀

WeavyBoo
>>100280789

I love how after 5 months, NOT EVEN 1 PERSON has liked this dude's message. He is alone in this
