Kyogln

Best episode yet. Peak themes

Derek Sanders

i was wrong, mistaken to ever doubt thy power

JC

YES WORTH STAYIN IP

Smash Bran'Discootch

At first i was like, "Huh, they made Sam deaf. Thats a bit weird, i'm curious as to their reasons for that." Then after watching, i said "Ohhhhh. Thats why. Because it's better. It more solidifies that sam needs henry and that henry will do anything he can to protect sam." This whole episode was so good.

speedy

oh my god, and i got good eats.

Eliana

Damn, barely 10 mins in and I’m over here crying with Lupa just from watching Henry and Sam’s relationship so far 🥲

Kami_Psy

Y'all are clutch. I literally just went to the store and picked up a snack and this pops up

Carlos

I love how they've used Bill and now Henry as reflections of Joel's journey. Find one person worth saving and protect them at all costs, consequences be damned.

Smash Bran'Discootch

The Ish story was always my FAVORITE of the notes that you pick up. The fact that they brought it in to where if you played the game you KNOW exactly what went down in those tunnels. And they perfectly recreated the "Danny and Ish, our protectors" drawing and added it to the set. I screamed when I saw it!

Void

Me and lupa are twins fr, this was a really sad episode

Void Zero

Just Another Day In Kc

A. P.

Me: lemme check my phone one last time before I go to sleep *sees Patreon notification* ... well I guess I'm staying up til 3am lol

Riku

Don’t think I’ve heard sheera scream like that before, definitely a really hard episode to watch :(

MR_V1B3Z

Joel: "Whats your source." Henry: "Trust me bro"

Void Zero

Bro roshi i was getting general raam vibes too lol

Smash Bran'Discootch

Yo I don't think I've EVER heard Sheera scream like that before. I've heard surprise and anger before but never just outright horror. I feel ya my dude. This was a heavy one.

Pan Cakes

Why did they have to make him deaf tho/??? now we wont get the cool talks he had with ellie. weird change bro.

NovaVortex

Kathleen got things done alright, DONE in...

shijishoutmon flare

it hurt worse the second time watching it. in the game it was bad, burt hthis time......man......... seeing it in the live adaptation. i cried so much man. they are really doing a good job with this series

Daniel Sol

Wait doesn't TLOU premier on Sunday or did something change?

Vanilla

I don't know if it's just me but I felt no emotions this episode I personally thought the game did this way better. Sam being deaf added nothing nor did him being 8 instead of 13. When I was watching I was just 😆🤨😱 never 🥺😢😭still a good ep but seeing them cry was surprising!

LUPASAN

Fuckin hated this episode the second it started. I was trying to keep it together

LUPASAN

Wild thing is, Sheera reaction was exactly what I did when I played the game. That shit fucked me up.

Vanilla

I 100% agree it felt like they changed it just to get some cheap emotions

FreshxEli Tv

I’m currently watching the tower of god Reactions rn where you said you’ll curse anyone out that spoils 👀👀😂 now my curiosity for this episode is extremely high but y’all got me glued to tower of god rn

Alexis Sullivan

They made Sam deaf because the actor playing him is deaf

Eliana

Bro once I saw you getting affected I couldn’t keep myself together, already knew what time it was. But it hurt 100xs more watching this no cap. Added hella more depth and dynamics between these characters, especially Sam and Ellie🤧

A. P.

This episode had me wrecked yo, I don't think I've ever cried that hard over a show. I think I felt that way for the first 10 minutes or so but after seeing Lupa cry that early in the episode I questioned why I wasn't anywhere near as emotional and I realized that because I was expecting this to be such an emotionally manipulative episode I was living more in that expectation and bracing for it than I was being present and open enough to appreciate the experience. Once I just let go and decided to stop thinking about the game so much the feels definitely came. That's just my experience, but idk maybe something similar was going on for you. And not for nothin, these mfs be funny and sometimes joke during somewhat serious parts so it be like that if you're watching along with the reaction.

Buddha

Man what a great a episode it pulls my heart strings even more that they made Sam way younger and Ellie looked like she was playing big sister man that was tough 🥲🥲

Tahti

Yeah this episode was really hard to watch because Sam looks like my nephew. Had me sobbing hard

Jaden Coleman

Shoutout to Sheera for the Clicker kids prediction lol

Isaac

Here's a hot take but really this is genius character writing: in the context of what happened here with Sam and Henry, Henry offing himself was Ellie's fault. She made an accurately childish assumption that her blood was the cure. She didn't tell Henry and Joel about Sam's bite. And she fell asleep, leaving Sam alone to turn, alone. And the sudden attack forced Henry to off Sam himself and the guilt of what he did for Sam to Cathleen's brother became all for nothing then and there and he suddenly offs himself. And she knows it's her fuck up. Ugh. Love the character writing making it deeper like that. If only she had told them. All she can do is learn and endure the pain of her mistake.

Sughandi

Yeah Roshi that's Morgan in the window??? LMAO

Dark Danny

i think the age thing was so we didn't try to ship Sam and Ellie. i disagree with him being deaf not adding anything, him being deaf on top of only being 8 makes him seem way more like he needed to be protected, all that together made his death sadder in my option

Isaac

Yeah, holy shit she SCREAM screamed. She didn't do that typical yelp she always does, that shit scared me nearly. Lol I remember the time Lupa genuinely screamed without sounding silly. It was the last episode of Arcane when Jinx put a gun to Cait's head and Lupa screamed no like she was gonna actually do it. Lol

Vanilla

Or did they want Sam to be deaf so they picked a deaf actor? I'm a fan of one piece so I don't get to see the after the episode talk when the director are explaining things

Awaab Adam

Sam literally looks like my little brother. I only cried to two pieces of studio film before in my life, this one is the second. I felt it coming instantly when I saw their relationship in the attic. What an emotional ride this show has been so far. Damn.

Senel Kayhan

SPOILER WARNING FOR THE END OF TLOU AND THE 2ND GAME: so what we see here in this episode is that ellie tried to help Sam with her blood. Maybe that´s a very childlike thinking that this would be enough to safe him but she woulnd´t know so why not give it a shot. Since she knows she´s immune and Marlene/the Fireflies told her she is the key to finding the vaccine, Ellie sort of feels this responsibility of being the reason people can get cured. the game doesnt bring that across as good as the show. Why would she write "I´m sorry" on Sam´s board he used to write on. Its because she genuinly feels sorry about not having been able to safe him with her immunity (and then Henry aswell bc he wouldn´t have shot himself). That´s why she askes Joel where west is(bc the Labs there and so on) and tries to get there asap without mouring too much at their graves. The second game brings up this conflict between ellie and joel why he dragged her out of the lab and she gets upset bc, and i quote ellie, her "life could have fucking mattered". i never understood why she made this so big bc we as the audience never got the feeling that her immunity as a chance of saving mankind was so important to her. Not in this show though. It slowly builds up this side of Ellie wanting her immunity to be meaningful and safe people. She will maybe mention Tess one day and Sam ofc, when discussing this with Joel bc all those people who mattered to her could have been saved bc of Ellie.

Burning Talons

LMAO thumbnail look like they fed up with the3 show

Ivan Franco

Henry's and Sam's death still hit hard even though I knew it was gonna happen...

Mikaylin

Is this the plan of the show?🥲Emotional attachment to side characters just for them to die btw with Joe and Ellie

Lamaree Jackson

This is random but is the motel they were hiding out in at the end the same motel they used for Better Call Saul? The one Nacho was hiding in when he was being hunted

Sean Taylor

ion know why yall getting scared like they are going to kill ellie lmao

Kumi Chan

Thats a really good point, its not Ellie’s fault Sam got bit, but she still should of told Joel or Henry about it. Maybe they could of cut of Sams leg 😭

island_boi32

Bloater scene was unexpected but well done, I noticed the way it killed that bearded guy is the same as the death animation when it grabs Joel and rips his face apart. Most likely a hidden easter egg to the game.

Spriggz

New Harley Quinn valentines day special out in case you guys are gonna check it out.

LiquidXGravity

Dang got lupa crying in the thumbnail

Davon Thomas

The sheera scream, we have never heard her scream like that before. This episode is fantastic, we even got major lupa tears. The emotions were riding high!

joshua rosario

was that train tracks....working??? at 39:00

KeYo

dam even tho i knew what was coming it still fucking got to me. i like this change tho because in the game you first fight the bloater with bill but they changed it to this which was a more hectic scene so it fit.

Leanne Stephenson

Literally saw the bloater and the first thing I thought was 'damn Groot got thick' haha. So sad to see the innocence being taken away in more ways than one. Amazing episode

Solemnity

The number of times this episode made me say "Why are you not running yet?" was ridiculous.

WackySwacky

Bill and Henry are two examples of people who failed to protect the one person they cared for. This is all having an effect on Joel, and it's leading up to that decision he will have to make at the end.

MidNightBrownie

Do y'all think that if henry didn't off himself, Joel could have helped Henry through all of that?

Michael Pamon

Nah cuz Joel didn’t have to kill Sarah himself, I don’t think that’s something he’d be able to help Henry get through.

botanbutton

Man, I knew what was gonna happen (the game absolutely ripped my heart out) and I still shed tears...I think what gutted me with this adaption is Ellie's reaction. Also: Lupa said use everything in the bookbag on the bloaters! 😂 That's what it felt like, lmao. I'm pretty sure fire was the most effective way to kill them tho.

John Cedar

I think the most important thing about the morality of what Henry did is that he volunteered the information to get the drugs for his brother. He wasn't caught by FEDRA and forced to give up people with a gun to himself and Sam, he went to them because he saw that as his best/only option. There are other things he could have done with more risk to himself, like steal the drugs, bribe someone at a low level to sneak them out, or go to the resistance and ask for help in an operation to steal them. And even if all of that is not possible, it still doesn't make it justified. Just because Sam is personal to him or a young kid does not mean Sam deserves life more than anyone else, especially in this world. Especially if it's something like cancer. Everyone's time runs out eventually and one of the most tragic realities on the planet is that sometimes children run out of time before they've really gotten to experience life. But there are literally over a billion children who died and suffered from the outbreak and the events that followed. If we're being objective, Cathleen's brother being spared would have led to less loss of life. It was not a justified decision on Henry's part, it was a selfish one. And what makes the writing so good and thought provoking is that literally none of us could say for sure what we would do in that situation until we are in it. The way that morality can bend or straight-up break when society doesn't exist anymore, it's chilling and awful to think about, but I applaud this series for having something to say.

John Cedar

Henry would probably not have killed himself if he was allowed to process the situation and say goodbye to his brother. Ellie made a terrible mistake keeping a secret as a kind of comradery between children and to try and console Sam. She was incredibly naive and is partly responsible for Henry's death, which is something I think she knows and will have to live with forever. It was just so sad, Henry just looked so confused. He did not have any chance to come to terms with what was going to probably be the most traumatic thing he could ever experience. It wasn't the act of having to kill Sam by itself that drove him to suicide, it was the fast paced nature and the whiplash he received followed by such immense sorrow and no chance to have said goodbye. Such good writing.

Dayta13

my eardrums...

yugster

lupa in despair lol

cheezeblade

Shout out to the actress pulling a WHOLE proffesor umbridge. Shes normally cast as such a sweet soft spoken character. but shes suuchhh a fuckin monster of spite and hate here.

Luhbabytay

Rob from RTTV watching lupa reaction : you gonna cry, you gonna cry like baby Deku lol

Luhbabytay

I guess I’m evil lol cause you kill my brother, guess what I gonna kill your brother. We even

Phroug

Naaah Sheera's craziest scream was when they were playing alien isolation, that shit was funny as hell

Phroug

Nah, neither Joel or Ellie are really equipped to handle someone through that type of thing, add that on with the fact that Henry himself is semi-useless now that they don't need him to lead them through town. He would have just been a burden

Erica Collins

Being the oldest sibling with a little brother this ep hit way too hard especially at the end but wow even as an infected sam couldn't hear was a great detail. I didn't catch that when i watched it the first time

Phroug

Either way, they both know that she's alive in the second game and that she has an immunity to the virus

Alex Perez

I feel with this version, now Joel’s decision to save Ellie in the end will hit her a lot harder

Omar Bautista

Since the Giant of Elephants of 2020 this episode dosent really hit me the same anymore. It's sad but I could care less

Kwaku Afari

Dang Lupa started 11 minutes in

Daniel Sol

One critique I have is I wish they had more time to build up that relationship between the 4 of them. The game made you believe when all was done, henry and sam were going to be a new addition to the team.

Alexis Sullivan

Not sure, I haven't seen the after episode thing either. I just saw people on Twitter mention he was deaf

RnicJaay

Lupa knew what time it was from the jump😭

Steve

yea sadly no, Henry Ratted out Kathleen's brother just to save his brother from death, and remember Kathleen's words "You ever think he was supposed to die" her words definitely echoed in his head in that moment and Sam was the only reason Henry kept going, he lost everything the minute he shot him, what's worse is you can see it in his eyes when he looks at Joel, he knows there's no way forward for him, and that it wasn't Joel or Ellies fault.

Eva

This show keeps fucking me up 😭

Dark Shogun

I think I can see where Dark Danny is coming from regarding the age. As far as him being deaf I think it makes sense. You're in a room, sleep, with a runner. How is it you don't get attacked while sleeping? Well if that runner is deaf and not facing you it has no motivation to move because there is nothing to draw it's attention. If Sam could hear he probably would have attacked Ellie while she was sleep.

vesra

Just a product of good writing, direction and acting.

KamiGema

This episode failed me Guys. I think this is hands down my favorite tv episode of all time. Went from jumping off my couch with the boys to damn bear retain up with them after this episode finished.

Fabled

From somebody who never played the game I believed that they were going join the group when I watched it

Leart Kelmendi

thats not a spoiler jigga man, its just noncannon, like when u die in a game a death animation happens, u play as joel, so when u mess up and die vs a bloater, joels face gets ripped off, so its just a videogame thing.

Anthony Purington

Yeah, in the game the Bloater is a boss character, and if it gets too close to Joel, that's the death animation.

John Cedar

I think it's really presumptuous to think that Henry couldn't learn to live with it had he had a proper goodbye and a loaded gun was kept from him. You ever hear about how many, many suicide survivors say they are so glad they weren't successful? You think everyone doesn't feel that despair about what they've done, that Joel didn't, and Ellie won't? People who are about to pull the trigger on themselves are not in the correct state of mind to decide if that's what they should really do. ESPECIALLY when the reason for that is something that happened literally 10 seconds ago that they are still in shock about. Joel has done terrible things and the first episode shows him washing down pills with liquor to get through the night, and it's implied that this is the norm for him. This is the story of every single person who's made it this far into the apocalypse; 20 years of this shit. If anything, it's a bit unrealistic how little Henry has had to do and sacrifice given that he's survived this long. Regardless, my point is that you'd be surprised with what you can live with and the importance of processing information that you are in shock about before doing something as permanent as, idk, ending your life or something. That's just my opinion though.

Sham3ful

I didn't remember the leg part happening this early in the story & immediately started crying knowing it's only going downhill

DsWorldd •

To Be fair I've only seen small vague clips from the 1st game and a couple parts of the 2nd but I thought they'd join them still. Even when Henry shot Sam I still thought he'd grieve then go along with them for a little until he took himself out seconds later.

Lucas Theret

The more thought you put into the more devastating the whole situation is, oh the pain

Guns

You can write a novel out of every single episode and it would be spectacular

Lucas Theret

Damn not too often Lupa can’t even look at the screen because of the pain. I feel you Lupa… I feel you.

Lucas Theret

Roshis question on if Joel bodying Henry for not taking out Sam in time if Elie wasn’t immune and got infected would be justified is a perfect example for the idea of “good or bad” being such a gray area in the game because honestly almost everyone from someone else’s perspective is “bad” or “evil”

suzukiri

Easiest way i can understand characters taking forever to run is forcing myself to realize that each of those shots aren't necessarily happening in that order. Otherwise im just stuck yelling the samething lol

CJ Evans

Great dissection of the situation. Imagine having no prior knowledge whatsoever that your little brother got infected, thinking they’re completely healthy, and then waking up immediately seeing them as a monster trying to kill someone. Not only that, in mere seconds you’re forced to shoot them dead? It would break all of us completely.

Gucci Pucci

Lupa cryin in the thumbnail? Damn it’s gonbe one of those episodes huh

Trist9n

Even when you know what's gonna happen its still too much😭

Viru

idk if this the route they were trying to take with Cathleen, but I don't think letting kids "go" after killing their companions/guardians is a good idea.

Bria A.

Deaf people are still perfectly capable of communicating and having “cool talks”, lmao. Don’t do this. None of the sympathy came from him being deaf itself, it only gave a deeper explanation to why Henry feels even more responsible for his wellbeing.

Passion

I wish they would've made another change where at least henry stays alive and when they get to tommy's he stays there...

Timothy Panngam

Great reaction as always! This episode was amazing, but I was a mess at the end like most everyone

Ketsu

is it just me or the audio is fucked up

Sheraya san

Awww Lupa :( this episode was excellent the actor who played henry was phenomenal

Iouliana

Yeah she was right for that, It would of been a mercy to just kill them both.

MermaidHeel

I felt that scream in my core. Always love your reactions.

Slicewinds

damn if only henry knew that all he needed was to clear smh

ahomelesscake

Lol they really dont understand shock and how it affects people. Freezing up is a part of shock fyi. Guaranteed they would get clapped if in the same situation.

Reujen Lista

I feel like the people who are mad that Sam was deaf in this show just don’t like reading subtitles 😂

Salmonero

Except Bill didn't fail at all. He literally lived with him and protected him for almost 2 decades.. That's what he said in his letter.. He found one person to care about, and stayed by his side until the disease became too much.. and they happily went out together.

DocGreen

Bill literally didn't fail at all. They lived out their lives together

Phroug

I just don't see why that made him death, like it would be one thing if it contributed to his death in anyway but it didn't. It was just a random addition

Reujen Lista

Well there’s not much we can really do. You could say the same for Tess’ death with the kiss. Random addition. But regardless of it, it didn’t take away from the same feeling it gave watching Sam and Henry in the game. The same goes for Tess. Didn’t take away from who she was as a character, it just grossed us all out lol I guess for me, it just adds a sense of perspective. Surviving in a world like this is hard already as it is. Let alone for a kid. What more for a deaf kid. It sort of gives Henry a more father like responsibility over Sam to put in a better effort to communicate and keep him safe. Thus making their end more gut wrenching.

SageTheChosen

Yall weird, frfr, him being deaf was a great change, only deepened their story. When the creator of the game says" how the tf did i not think of that before?" you know you wrong.

Reckless Company

Fedra was crazy they thought it was a good idea to put the infected underground that's insane, Henry and sam death still hits hard from the game to live action. The infected look awesome, its crazy how her people got folded with the quickness lol

Kevin

Loved this episode so much. One point I really enjoyed was Ellie’s fear of ending up alone. When her blood failed to heal Sam I felt like she realized even tho she had Joel she’d always be alone in carrying the burden of being immune.

Kevin

Also Joel going crazy with the sniper killstreak

bark

That shot of Henry at 15:30 with the reflection making him look like the superhero was great

Keziah

Lupa 😭

kurumi Tokisaki

Shell shock, fog of war, regular shock and fight or flight response. Please look them up so this shock war can stop!

matt B

I don't really care that they made him deaf, but it adds nothing to the show and i feel like the interactions between Ellie and Sam in the game were better. I just don't see the point really

Destiny Hernandez

Why does it matter? It was still an awesome episode just enjoy the show. If not then don’t watch it. Simple as that buddy.

Skurp

nah i agree with him, shouldve had good banter with ellie but they made him deaf. great episode and great show but we are all entitled to our opinion. no need to comment on his comment for you added nothing

Aziouss

Ahh shit like this overloads my suspension of disbelief. - How did the infected survive for so long underground with no water? They would cannibalize but then eventually will run out of resources! - How did Fedra "push them" underground? what were the logistics for that? I mean the mushroom isn't smart it is not going to do a "strategic withdrawal" into the tunnels right?

zILovePelmeni _

why is nobody complaining about the audio ? literally ass and fixable

Kozmo

first off its a 'zombie' at the end of the day so if your disbelief isnt already suspended then I dont know what to tell you . Second Fedra didnt "push them", that was just a rumour. Like the Clickers from episode 2 they likely hoarded together in a spot where they could get access to grow to the surface. Mushrooms are like any organism, they do anything to survive. And like other plants they can extend their roots and stems through concrete if there is acess to more water/ nutrients.

Caleb Washington

Lupa knew what time it was 10 mins in and then they added the deaf concept to it and made it worse for him lol

Rach

I think it sort of did make sense and worked out well scene wise, because even as infected he remained deaf. If he wasn't and Ellie fell asleep like that then she could have been dead long before she woke up.

Bosastar

Saddest shit ever😭

Sun

What’s replacing Midfit?

matt B

That's a good point i just feel like if they did the change they should have done more with it. Idk what though?

Mightymaxmini

For the last week any video on here i watch starts to stutter frequently after about 7 mins, anyone know how to fix this?

Timothy Panngam

Such a great episode but also shattering

Anthony Purington

If you listen to the HBO podcast, Craig Mazen said the the creator Neil Druckmann that the communication dynamic between Henry and Sam was very similar to Joel and Ellie. He made the suggestion of Henry communicating with Sam as a protector as well, but in a different nuanced way (hence why he was deaf) and at the same time, have someone to look up to Ellie and for her to protect (hence why he was younger), which she inevitably fails, and she deals with it similar to how Joel deals with it. Neil Druckman said "You motherfucker! I wish I had thought of that!" It wasn't a random addition. It was intended.

Niuwah

Has anybody recommended Weak Hero Class 1 to them?

Occasionallykook

You guys realize there are different types of traumatic shock right? There are like 4 typical responses: Fight, flight, fawn, and.....freeze. I understand that the 'freeze' response is overdone or poorly portrayed in most media, but it it is one of many legitimate reactions to sudden and sometimes violent stimuli your brain can't fully process. One can even experience multiple reactions at once, much like Henry, who presented symptoms of both Fight and Freeze. I assume you guys reaction to that is more of a meme thing and not a jab at some poor persons legit trauma response.

Sughandi

@Destiny People are allowed to watch things and give critiques. That's what a comment section is for after all. If people stopped watching shows because they didn't like one characteristic of a show, then this channel wouldn't exist

Ramone Moore

Yoo $500,000 is how much they spent on that bloader costume shits insane

Lamaree Jackson

Not y’all still letting the trio work you with this “shock” debate. It does get old. There’s many responses to have to shock but in the zombie genre it’s always freeze. Always. No matter the character type. When they’re not dealing with zombies they’re acute and aware and hyper vigilant, but they see a dude with his head half caved in chew a lady’s throat out, and they’re like maybe I should stand here for five minutes and get a closer look. It was actually done well here though. Except for the few times I found myself saying “fucking run”

DreAKAWolves

Bruh I’m in shambles, even having played the game. Still fucked up man…Being empathetic is a bitch sometimes lol

Niyaa H.

This doesn't do with the show but y'all should react to High & Low. It's on Netflix, it's a Japanese show/movies basically so much fighting and the story is good. One of my favorite movies and shows.

Smash Bran'Discootch

There's a difference between being in shock and seeing two incongruent pieces of information that your brain takes a second to register. For instance, if you walked into your living room and someone is standing there with a gun, yeah your fight or flight would kick in and you'd be able to act. If you walk into your living room and there's a TIGER there, something that you'd never expect to be in your living room, your response time is going to be significantly delayed because your brain is trying to figure out "wtf is a tiger doing here?!" and it's gonna blue screen for a second before it catches up.

Gilthwixt

But are you gonna kill a bunch of unrelated people for no reason to do it? That was the fucked up part.

Luhbabytay

Fedra ppl? Im killing. You kill or was involved with killing my family? I’m killing. Rats/collaborators that snitch and put me in jail to get beat on or rape for a apple? I’m killing. But innocent ppl that did nothing? no I’m not killing them

Mightymaxmini

Hmm, there shouldn’t be any problems with my internet or device I’m on uni Ethernet and I don’t have any problems with watching anything else

melloburner

as a person who knows ASL, I liked the change here. deaf representation is awesome and they did a good job with the signing

Ethan

I'll add to this by relating it to something that's probably happened to everyone. Have you ever been approached by someone you regularly interact with in another place wayyy different than their normal environment? You blue screen for a second wondering who tf is this until it catches up to you that you actually know them.

Smash Bran'Discootch

They explain the change in the behind the scenes after the show. And it actually adds quite a lot to the show. For starters it creates more of a narrative mirror between henry/sam and joel/Ellie, a child with special needs relying on am adult guardian in a dangerous situation. Ellie is entirely reliant on Joel for survival at this point in the story due to her inexperience with the outside world and relatively sheltered upbringing in the QZ. As such, she depends entirely on Joel to help her navigate in this world. Ellie is immune, she's alone in the world with only Joel really knowing her secret. By that same measure, Sam is deaf and also 8 years old. He is entirely dependent on Henry to navigate this world. He and Henry speak the same language which is probably pretty rare at this point. He relies on Henry for survival, comfort, everything. Plus the changes they made to sam and Henry's story is now a DIRECT mirror and a good bit of foreshadowing for what is to come at the end. So yeah, it adds PLENTY to the story. Maybe try to take off the "It's different, I don't like it!" glasses and you'll probably start seeing the reasons why they're making these kinds of changes. But like, let's ignore all that for the sake of conversation, and let's just say that it didn't add anything to the story. Well, my guy even if that were the case, it certainly didn't take AWAY from the story at all. I'm really not sure what interactions youre speaking of that were better in the game? Their interactions were pretty much the same. There were actually a few in this that were way better in the game(ellie trying to cure sam). They spoke as much in this as they did in the game, it was just in a different way. I guess I'm just not really sure what it is you're complaining about.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Also, all of you "we are entitled to our opinion" people, yeah you are. And other people are entitled to their opinions on your opinions. Also where did you get this idea that opinions are beyond reproach? That's just silly. Opinions can absolutely be wrong. Especially when they're entirely dependent on wrong or misunderstood information.

matt B

Yea but all i stated was that i did not feel like it added much to the experience that was this section. I did not go into another person's comments to shit on their opinion and i did not state that my opinion is fact

$am

Another late upload day today

Ash

Just curious but does anyone know if patreon videos take a long time to upload if they use the native player? I just joined another patreon and they seem to upload 4 hours apart.

Icallshotgun

still hurts the same all these years after

darnay mayberry

sam being deaf and bill being gay is like putting cheese on a hamburger right off the grill. it doesn't add anything nor does it take anything away. its just an unnecessary addition

Another little detail is that i thought it was odd Sam transformed so fast cuz when you're bitten in the leg it's supposed to take 24hrs for the transformation but it couldn't have been more than 8 to 12hrs from when Sam was bitten to morning time yet he was transformed. It makes sense when you realize that since hes a child and his body is smaller it takes less time for the fungus to reach his brain so he transformed faster

Wrëck

This why I love reactors I get to live through y’all I physically am not able to cry so seeing y’all do it really helps me understand emotions ya know

Wrëck

I kinda felt the same it’s pretty annoying when they slap disabilities or sexualities onto characters just to appeal more to the masses

baja

The kid from the day care turned into a clicker. Where as the other that were drove under 15 years ago were still "infected". So yeah make sense

Zachary Jackson

you did state your opinion as fact, "it added nothing to the show" is voicing as fact. just voice your opinion better next time. "I don't think him being deaf made any meaningful changes" is voicing an opinion.

Zachary Jackson

the infected don't have to consume people to survive. they're fungus, they get water through the soil, assuming they even need water to begin with.

Zachary Jackson

@Phroug the actor actually was deaf. maybe they liked the actor so much they were willing to make the change. Behind the Scenes reveals why they actually made the change so feel free to look there

matt B

Your right I did say it like that and that was just a fuck up because I didnt put much thought into a comment that was just voicing my opinion, but I still stand by my opinion. And I don't feel like it was that much of a big deal even if people misunderstood it

William kimura

This comment dumb asf lmao. Unless it's a horror movie, the main character aint finna die. Yet there's still suspenseful scenes in every good action/thriller show.

begang 99

sheera screamed so loud, i didnt even hear the gunshot lmao

Bria A.

I oppose the concept and the phrasing of “slapping disabilities and sexualities onto characters” as if it’s always some attention ploy given the simple fact that people like that just…exist in the world. For example: me. I exist. As someone with a physical disability who absolutely would not survive in a zombie apocalypse, it’s nice to see characters navigating the world under similar circumstances even if they’re not the “ideal” for the genre. Because we’re also out here.

matt B

Yeah I don't mind the characters having a disability or being non straight. I just don't like it when they change a characters identity and that's why I like the ep with Bill because it felt natural because he was at least implied to be gay in the game. I just feel like Sam being deaf in the show took more than it gave in the interactions between Ellie and Sam, but at the end of the day that's just my opinion

slipHAZARD

@Smash lol dude you're preaching to a brick wall. Sheera has ALWAYS been like that. It use to get on my nerves when I first started following Roshi and crew, her constant screaming at the screen telling characters what they should do as if the characters on the tv screen can actually hear her. lol go watch their reaction to Arcane 1x3, half the episode Sheera and Lupa are yelling at the screen for a character to do something, and when the character does it, they immediatly switch to "why would she do that!? she's so dumb"

Joise Cepeda

Cause they can ??? Literally added nothing to his character at all, just him being deaf. 😭😭

Mikaele Rosecrans

THIS NIGGA DID NOT JUST SAY “like cheddar Bob yea?” OH MY GOD ITS FROM THAT EMINEM MOVIE 8 MILE 🤣💀

Mikaele Rosecrans

I don’t think y’all remember but it happened just like the game sam was bitten and the brother couldn’t think about a world without his brother and blew his own brains out in the game so yea I’m the show it was side of the head but in the game he put the barrel to the roof of his mouth so yea

Mikaele Rosecrans

To kill bloaters the main think people used were shotguns bolt action and Molotovs with some grenades but u used everything on your first encounter and u don’t kill it Joel saves u actually the bloater tries to kill you by prying open your skull but instead of killing Ellie (your playing her when u reunite with tommy) Joel kills it for u then all the bloaters are usually 3 tap

Alexis Sullivan

Idk what you're trying to say but it was not the same timing. We saw on the poster in episode 1 that if you are bitten on the leg it takes 24hrs to transform. Sam was bitten at night and was transformed by morning, there was not a full 24hr time from when he was bitten to when they woke up the next morning. He turned faster than the typical 24hr timeframe likely because his body is smaller

Joey Zero

I already knew Sheera would be screaming "RUN!" a hundred times this episode when a character takes an extra 2 seconds to assess the situation before moving.

ok

32:05 did Sheera get the guy he was talking about was Kathleen's brother? Not the doctor. He was saying her brother was the great guy etc

Joey Zero

Cathleen is quite literally the younger sibling of someone who was murdered and look how she turned out. She wasn't taking any chances that they'd turn out like her and try to exact their revenge. Honestly can't blame her for wanting to leave no loose ends.

Joey Zero

A character takes an extra 2 seconds to assess the situation. Sheera - "RUN!!! Why aren't you running!"

Joey Zero

@slipHAZARD I remember that with the monkey bombs. She switched up hella fast after she saw the destruction

ok

This is really a personal preference but y'all should have personal subtitles on for shows that are in english too. It would help not miss lines tbh

ok

Lupa was hurt this episode. We ❤️ you.

ok

i feel like this is meant to be a somewhat deep or accurate analysis but then resorting to "it was ellie's fault" seems so ... wrong and cheap. shallow even. interesting you got that out of that. let's say she told him ... the next morning he still would be infected and his brother would be forced into a choice. it's true that they would've had that night to ruminate but the end would have been the same edit: like she "forced sam to off himself" that is an insane way to look at suicide and the situation

ok

^^ literally. something will happen and then .1 seconds later it's a frustrated "RUN" as if the thing didn't JUST occur lmao. like as if these characters are tapped into the speed force

ok

bro i appreciate the attempt but they will never get it. they literally make fun of everyone bringing it up at this point they've memed it lmao. that's how little they get it still. i mean that vinland ep they are referring to was an insane example of them not getting it let alone this

ok

@slipHAZARD yeah i mean as someone who has watched them react to a ton of shows ... sheera is sheera. these are her core characteristics. also her saying "that's why i said" when she never said anything is another one of the golden traits lol

MancunianProphecy

Personal preference, but so far I've not really enjoyed the series as much as I had hoped. The slight changes made have kind of threw me off, along with some half decent performances along the way from Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, and I don't think the scenes that were suppose to hit have hit as well with me. I say that now because Lamar Johnson and Keivonn Montreal Woodard both played Henry and Sam so good in the short time they had on screen, it probably has been the best of the series so far, and that end scene hit me the same as it did back in 2013. So gutted their characters were so short lived.

Gmac paddiewac

if you didn't know as well, the original voice actor of Ellie voices Park Trickfoot in Vox. If you know what she looks like you will understand more why she doesnt play Ellie

Jalani Abdul-Aziz

Older brother here👋🏽 this shit was so damn heartbreaking it’s been 10 mins and I’m still crying. I could never imagine having to do something as horrific as killing my little brother or any of my siblings for that matter. It seems it feels even worse for Henry because he was doing every single thing for sam and he just received all those drawings sam made of him as his hero. An older/younger brother love is unlike any other bond especially when they idolize and admire you. Fuck this hurt

TheDroppedFry

Well Bria, while I think that disabled people can survive in an apocalypse if they have a really adamant caregiver, it's probably not going to last long for them otherwise. Sure, we can suspend our disbelief for a film or TV show, but there's a certain point where putting too much unbelievable stuff in a story will degrade its quality. Worldbuilding is an important concept of writing and plot, and if your world does not have a coherent sense to it, and feels more like an author's diary than a legitimate basis for a story, then its essence is not as good as it could have been.

ChickenDinners

Elliot Page is transgender. That's all you have to say. You don't have to be all mysterious about it lol

quxntum

i just thought about this but maybe when ellie mixed her blood with his it sped up the process. i mean she was bit twice and when u test her it shows that she’s infected so maybe it just made it faster

Nathan Hale

Yeah, from beyond the grave she got that runback.
