The actor who played the Fung-hai leader that wormholes Lee’s butt was on the original 21 Jump Street from way way back when Johnny Depp was still new to the world. He’s been in a lot of things including the 21 Jump street movie with Ice Cube. Yeah like I said last episode, this looked like the beat down before the training montage in Karate Kid. No way I expected Ah-Sahm to win.

For Lupa- Tai chi isnt hard to learn and its good exercise. But he usually fights with a combination of Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do (all that bruce lee shit). If you really want to learn to fuck somebody up BJJ is the way to go. Plus youll get in the best shape of your life in a few weeks if you do it regularly. Most studios will teach muy thai as a package deal if you want to learn striking too. Tai Chi is cool, BJJ is serious

the guy that beat up lee? he was in an earlier episode when mai ling went to broker a deal with the mongols (fung hai?). he's the one that made a deal with her on the side and helped to poison the boss so he becomes the new boss. his name is dustin nguyen and he's been acting since the 80s. i mostly know his fine ass from 21 jump street (the tv show) but he pops up everywhere. he was really big in the 90s: seaquest, highlander, kung fu the legend continues, v.i.p......if you ever saw the sequel to the man with the iron fists, he was in that too

Ah Sahm would’ve won if he wasn’t wasting time celebrating after he knocked him out. In reality, him and Li Yong are equal, it’s just that what Ah Toy said was true. Li Yong had something to fight for which was love while Ah Sahm didn’t have anything. Mom’s gone, Dad’s gone, sister betrayed him, Penny stopped messing with him, and a gang that wouldn’t think twice to remove him. He had nothing to fight for but himself. But trust and believe Ah Sahm is called the Warrior back home for a reason.

The crazy thing is Ah Sahm had a chance to win but he let it go when he was basically showboating after knocking Li Yong down. Li Yong was actually dedicated to his side but Ah Sahm wasn't and that difference was what led Ah Sahm to losing.

Ah Sahm definitely put up a better fight than last time but he lacked the motivation to end the fight quickly. Li Yong was dedicated to Mai Ling which was why he was able to make a comeback while Ah Sahm had no real motivation for winning.

Damn that was so interesting. Definitely want Lee to stay safe, he is so likeable, really want to know what happens next. Yeah the sister, I was starting to like her because of the backstory that Ah Sahm was having. Then we see her become the boss officially, and I was like okay that's cool she's the boss now. Then the guy at the table brings up that he doesn't like the fact that she singlehandedly started a war that they are very likely to lose, since the other tong has more resources... so she is putting all of their lives in danger, which is a valid point, but she is like "you don't respect me because I am a woman! *kills him*" I was like.... man alright, I know you had a hard life but you are being a clown right now, we know she is getting played by that dude with a stick with the mayor, and I know she is a competent leader but I don't see how she can come out on top in the tong wars, she will slowly lose in a prolonged back-and-forth warfare between the tongs and they will all be miserable in the meantime cause war always sucks. My favorite characters right now are Lee (the cop) and Ah Toy (the brothel owner), Young Juun is also cool but it really sucks that he said that would be the last time he can talk to Ah Sahm.. I liked their brotherly bond they had been building up until now.

Ah Toy is a real one, definitely one of the best characters the way she supports and tries to teach this idiot 🤣🤣 I really hope he comes around to see just how solid she is. At some point could the three of you mention you favorite fights of the show? If you want to wait till after you see season 2 i get it but I’m curious. All the fights are great. Ah Sham/Bolo/ Young Jun fighing the Fung hai in the casino in episode 6 is my favorite and Bolo Vs Ah Sahm in ep 7 is a close second.

Ah Sahm Vs Li Yong is the best choreographed fight of the season in my opinion. The fight in s2 ep5 is a close contender.( won’t spoil who’s in that one, but it’s great.)

Completely agree. The plot of this story is so damn good, that when they put in such stupid and hare-brained moments like that, it can completely ruin a character. I have a feeling someone in the producer or director's seat got a mandate from Hollywood's execs that required them to put this woke bs in at least one segment. This isn't to say that they didn't also probably think she was ineffective because she was a woman... I mean, we're talking about 1900s California in an Asian Tong, in a society that is male-dominated and restricts women from doing pretty much anything- ESPECIALLY running a criminal enterprise. So I don't doubt that they would have eventually held her in contempt as a woman leader, but he didn't even bring up that point so WHY WOULD SHE SHOOT HIM FOR THAT? This was her first chance to establish herself as headstrong, level-headed, and a ruler that made calculated and efficient decisions. Instead, she makes some ridiculous statement, then SHOOTS one of the tong's bosses, which is going to piss off EVERYONE that worked below him and around him. The story, thus far, is amazing otherwise. I only expect it to get better as I watch more of the seasons.
