had to kill all the cast members for those eyes

Comments

MWS

They aren’t contacts. The eye stars aren’t real, they represent the emotions of the hoshino family (Hoshi meaning star) and only we can see them. In this case theyre just a visual cue to show what a good actor Akane is

PokeDexs

The stars aren’t really they are symbolic and akane got it to show how she is completely acting like ai

Huemon Nottabear

Ug, just heard that next week will be a recap episode. Apparently the show only had 11 episodes because the 1st was 90 minutes long, now because it's popular they've extended it to 12 episodes... by adding a recap episode next week.

Hamshank

I've seen a lot of reactors getting confused about the cameras being cut last episode. I'm guessing when the director said "Cut" all of the cameras operated by crew members stopped filming, but the unmanned fixed ones were left to roll.

gg78cc
>>109250846

Nah, its probably not because its popular. The reality is probably worse, chances are its production issues.

Ethan

Um idk if you guys missed it, but aqua was the one to leak the suicide attempt to the press. That’s why he called it a gamble and his stepmom was upset with him

Grelk

Mist

Devin B

The eye stars are basically like the element effects of breathing techniques in Demon Slayer, they're not real in the show but it's there for the visual effects for the viewers.

Ocims_Zero

yow. the eyes are for visualization only. there are no real star eyes there. Just like Aqua's star becomes dark means the emotions and feelings are dark, rage, and angry.

SavvyAlloy516
>>109250846

The reason there's going to be a recap episode isnt because its popular, but because there's a special program airing in Japan for that day or week. Just look up "Oshi no ko episode 8 delay" and you'll find out. Also its not just Oshi no Ko thats getting delayed, Hells Paradise will also be delayed.

>>109251953

Imagine watch a reaction channel for the shows not the commentary a creator brings. Wild. Seriously just go watch it yourself if ur gonna complain about people talking

Adamas

Little did anyone know, Akane was secretly the best girl all along

StorySmith []

You guys might have missed it but aqua is the one who leaked the suicide.

Mist

Sheera you were right, Akane is a representation of method actors who research their characters immensly and dive into their psychology and how they act, talk, and think. Thats how good of an actor she is.

Grant Beaudette

What're the odds this bit started out as a Light/L shipfic and got massively repurposed?

GraffitiTurtle
>>109251953

@StorySmith [] they said she talks too much not that she should never talk lol. Imagine watching with someone that won’t shut up and misses stuff as a result, nothing wrong with being annoyed by that. Obviously they like the channel enough to stay around regardless, but I don’t see a problem with what they said.

Kingmakaii

That def probably be how Roshi be when he editing tweeking at the table to give us the best content😭

Erica Collins

The stars in the eyes being there for us only makes so much sense because I'm over here like, ain't no way people are not questioning the fact that Aqua and Ruby have the same star in their eyes as Ai And at first I thought Akane was getting too obsessed but I forgot that actors really do put that much effort into the character they're playing. Some of them take it to the next level and do method acting. The dedication is insane. I respect it

awwtysm

Akane is basically just a super talented method actor like Sheera said and she awakens her star eyes because of how talented, emotional, and driven her performance as ai is. You guys are basically correct about what the stars mean but there is an extra layer - the colour. Basically white star is associated with positive emotions and black star with negative.

Sylvie

It’s not uncommon for an actor/actress to research their role in order to portray a character accurately. Many Japanese voice actors will actually “play” their character in real life for weeks/months prior to going behind the mic to record. It makes the performance more genuine. I’m not sure why they showed it in such a sketchy way when Akane was doing her research on Ai.

earthphoenix7068

AYOO gorilla chewing gif. This is some theatre kid shit wtf Akane

wavyesper

There is no Sheera could be right, she’s 100% right. We’ve seen Akane always taking notes on everything, she’s a method actor. These types of actors get totally immersed in their roles, deep diving the character’s archetype and psyche, even to the point where they may act as that person in real life to truly get a feel for it. They do extensive research on everything they can find out about their role, Akane is a master actress

Ginger Dwarf

My brother in christ the Stars in their eyes are not real xD

wavyesper
>>109250846

Just the let you guys know, there's a special event next week. The manga is also delayed by one week because of it. It's not production problems

Aniki Pft
>>109253033

I think it's how Akane researched and processed everything about Ai. It felt somewhat creepy. but it also showed just how talented Akane really is in terms of playing another character. regardless Akane >>>

Exiova

Guys the sparkles in the eyes arent real. Lol

nami

Aikane!

Reginald Madtail

The whole stars in the eyes thing seemingly isn't physical. It seems to be representing their eyes shining. So I think her getting those eye stars is basically like her putting a more lively look in her eyes. If it was a design they could see themselves, I think it'd be way harder to hide their relation to Ai.

ogking31

Above average episode. Good thing they did something to her character.

Chocobo
>>109253028

mad aggressive over a cartoon 🤣please forgive them this one time sir

Zuku

So, Allow me to explain. as it's never really told not even in the manga. The Star in the eyes isn't actually there. It's symbolism for someone who's either acting, or very good at lying, it's unknown which one specifically, the Bright eye means it's pure lies for the sake of making others happy, the dark star is for manipulation. I'm not sure if the anime will actually explain it better, but i know for a fact in the manga they didn't

Zuku
>>109253956

This also explain to you why nobody really looked at Aqua and Ruby and was like "hey you got the same star as that Hoshino Ai girl"

cami ً

I think sheera is spot on about akane!!!!

godUsoland

Akane is a genius method actress! She's just like Heath Ledger playing the Joker. Let's hope she doesn't get consumed by the role

Thiivi

I had a feeling that the starry eyes was a symbolic thing at the start, but this episode basically confirmed it. Like no way people don't put two and two together if the stars are actually physically in their eyes lol

CarbonDog

Akane went all Daniel Day-Lewis, my boy Aqua never stood a chance

zanderbander

Damn we starting eyegate. I wonder if their eyes are like the visual effects in demon slayer.

MrOuijaII

I for sure see the 'star eyes' just like the 'ego eyes' from bluelock. Alot of eye symbolism, from the white star eyes/black star eyes/'empty' eyes that kana had when speaking about suicide that were almost similar to Ai's eyes when she died

Aniki Pft
>>109251953

@Chelle that's cool and all, but him commenting that isn't going change a thing lmao. Part of what StorySmith is saying is completely true, you're watching reactors. There's a solid 50% chance of those reactors missing something crucial either if they're paying attention or not, why? Because things fly past us. They're going to talk, if you believe they talk too much simply cancel your sub and watch the shit solo.

Nick

Akane da goat

Devin B

With how methodical Akane is it makes sense that she would excel in theater acting and not acting in front of a screen cause in the show she wasn't given clear directions on how to act and she had to figure out for the most part what to do. With theater acting as long as you're able to follow the script and put emotion into how you act you can definitely become adept in it.

Anime4Life

It’s Called Method Acting🎭

Darren Banks

Lol aqua is a whole anti hero. Betting lives on this shit 🤣

Bria A.
>>109250846

honestly it's because there's some national tennis thing going on next week. a lot of animes are getting pushed back a week because of it.

Chimpman

The eyes are symbolic lmao.

KENXO

sheera is so shrap, thats why roshi and lupa need her to understand whats going on XD

Random Guy

i don't think the starry eyes are something physical.... its probably a visual representation of something else. If it was physical it would make no sense for a person in a non-fantasy setting to have eyes that constantly change colors. Aqua's stars that change color indicate that its something that can change so it could be emotions, or motivations. Intent maybe?

danial javady

i think sheera's right. Akane's immersion was just a testament to her skill.

Darren Banks

Lol not then thinking the kids are walking around with sharingans or something. The eyes are just a symbolic effect 🤣 And yes theater performers can be weird. But many great actors are thespians. If you take a second to read the subtitles, you’ll see they were basically explaining who she is. Thank you sheera 🤞🏽

Gustavo Martínez

Ending the phrase with -sa, that's the way Ai spoke. And yes, the eyes on her are to show us when she's acting as Ai.

Kisuke01

Aqua is on some Ayanokoji levels of manipulation

Guns

stop only paying attention to the pretty colors and shapes guys, yall gotta read too. the subtitles

Oax Al

Yo, best girl went whole ass Joaquin Phenix. Girl is a method actress and bodied her debut. I definitely think the eyes are an IT factor indicator rather than actually pupils. Otherwise, I question the characters not pointing out how the reincarnated twins have different pupils in each eye.

13

Im so happy yall realized the eyes dont actually physically look like that in-universe at the end there

Guns

don't make your comment section name every single actors and actresses that went completely and insanely above and beyond for their characters, even worse than Akane

Homura

Aqua was the one who leaked Akane's attempt to the press.

Cal Day
>>109258327

PREACH! This has got to be the most frustrated I've ever gotten watching one of their reactions. I was on the verge of actual anger it was so bad.

NecDW4

I think Aqua forgot, Ai WASNT born like that, she had a shitty depressing life and ACTED like Ai. It didnt actually start to become her personality till she had kids. She absolutely can act like her, especially if she understands where she was coming from.

Shin splits

Tbh what akane did doesn’t seem to far form what most actors/actresses do. You want to get into a role to the best of your ability you gotta do as much research as you can. Tbh her form of acting isn’t even on the extreme side of acting look what Jared Leto does staying in character 24/7.

Easly_Bash

Yoooooo this episode was amazing and ended on a great note! 9.5/10

Matz

Ai had pretty eyes but that’s just a physical detail. The star eyes is literally just star power, as in when this person is on screen/stage you can’t not look away from their performance. Aqua and Ruby have the talent to match Ai’s stardom, and after an intense character study, now Akane can imitate her basically perfectly.

Danny
>>109261035

i do think part of it was the talent. Ai was just so good at lying and portraying this mask of "Ai the idol". What he underestimated was Akane's own talents nearly rivals Ai's

t_t
>>109250806

they are like the demon slayer effects or lets say the marks on yuji when he turns sukuna!

szeth

I usually only like shows with a lot of action but why is this so good

Johnathon

The stars in the characters' eyes aren't actually there, lol. It's just visual imagery for the audience. They apear in her eyes at the end because she's acting like Ai.

PotHead

Ai's eyes are nothing more then a visual representation to how the crowd views her. She's so unique and entrancing that just looking into her eyes leaves you hooked. Ruby and Aqua merely fave a fraction of what she has. Considering that akane is so talented though she's able to perfectly mimic her "immobilizing stare"

Jalen Holmes

I loved this episode and btw there is no episode next week. The next episode is on June 7th. Akane is 100% a good actor bruh because she nailed her personality and made Aqua turn around lmao

Oscar Barcelo

I love the work done with the eyes on the show. Akane's moment at the end of the episode stole the spotlight, but neat little detail is how Aqua's eye changes color in every other frame. Just take the scene with the cameraman for example - when he is trying to manipulate him, his star turns dark; when he's trying to appeal to his righteousness, his star shines even brighter. The star is a metaphor for its holder's charisma, but boy does it also encaptivates us the viewers. From what I heard the reason why Aquas and Ruby each have a star on the opposite eye is because they don’t see eye to eye. Ruby wanting to continue her moms foot steps and Aqua working to catch his mothers killer ( possibly the father ). Feel free to correct me on some of this as I’m a anime only / no manga yet watcher.

Ice

The eyes are a stylistic choice, not an actual real thing people in the show have.

Deku Kana

This man folded 😮‍💨

Passion

Can anyone tell me if they are going to go more into Ruby's side this season? Or will it be further into the anime bc I am more interested in her idol upbringing for some reason lol

Fooni

Sheera is right. 😂. A lot of actors go further than what Akane did in this episode. To the point they need therapy after they finish a role

Fooni
>>109251953

It’ll always be that way😂😂. Ppl never learn lessons, even when they are force fed to them

hokeypokey

I'm pretty sure if they literally had stars in their eyes that people would have made the connection long ago :P

Charles Fine

Sheera on next level anaysis!

Fabio Belrause
>>109266141

Without spoiling too much, the last few episodes this season will focus on the new B Komachi and idols

Darthmonte
>>109251953

Man fuck you, sheera see's waay more than she doesn't, hell the reaction wouldn't be the same if she wasn't there. Hell roshi and lupa talk all the time sometimes to the reactions deficit but i don't see you complaining about that.

Angelo Marchantt
>>109257527

They need shera to understand shit, roshi to actually pay atention to shit and lupa to just be funny AF. Great trio

lyssa

Too good 😮‍💨

Gilthwixt
>>109251953

If Roshi and Lupa didn't have Sheera on they'd get clapped in the comments 2x as much, she catches on to the plot and foreshadowing in this show way better than them. Everything she said this episode was spot on.

Gilthwixt
>>109258327

Tbf even I find myself having to pause and rewind shit with this show all the time. It's not just the screen heavy scenes with lots of translated text either, stuff like background characters talking over Aqua's internal monologue caught me like it caught Lupa. They have to do a live reaction on top of all that, it's not easy.

Arc

It's not contacts. She said it - the eyes "might be a sign of self-confidence"

Alexander Szabo

It’s not contacts. It’s literally to show that she’s imitating Ai’s whole demeanor

Ped
>>109263510

Because it’s just that good. Aka Akasaka is a goated mangaka

A.D.Z

Roshi and Lupa killed me 🤣 it frustrated me and made me laugh in the same time, thats probably the least which a good actor / actress should do to play their role to the max level (sheera super on point) you should watch how Heath Ledger did to play the Joker in the Dark Knight, thats a whole other level Btw i had doubt about their star eyes (ai, aqua and ruby) was it real or not but this last scene with akane just proved it was a way to show us how good is her performance (or maybe even more like she did transcend her skills) Great reaction as always for a really good episode thx guys

FeneiFT

they dont have stars on their eyes its just a artistic feature to show how their eyes are glowing

Paden Snell

The eye-stars are symbolic not literally what their eyes look like. Aqua and ruby both gain and lose the stars or the brightness of them at times to reflect on their characters ambitions at the moment.

Hamshank

Akane with the Staringan is too powerful

Jose

Pretty sure akane is just a hardcore method actor

Oisif

Damn sheera hard carried the analysis

Robert Rodriguez

as people have said, they aren't contacts. it's how the show/writer conveys this "star power" yeah.

Ral Zarek

Sheera is absolutely right. The creepy factor of that scene is not that how much she is researching, this is normal for top tier Method/Theater actors, the creepy music is because how close she's getting to stuff that only the audience knows and even things we don't know. Also no contacts, the star or "Staringon" is something only us viewers can see. She closes her eyes and doesn't put anything in.

Panda
>>109276603

Yeah, i think the fact that they were born with the eyes was a red hairing. I think people assumed that was because they got them genetically from ai. But it might have be a representation of their natural ability as entertainers.

Panda

"There is a fine line between Genius and insanity" You can pick one for Akane imo.

Jarren Jenkins

Yeeeaaah? Akane showed up with normal eyes and blinked and the stars were there. How did she put in contacts without touching her eyes?

Gate

i love Akane. method actor characters are great. And she is a smart girl. Don't underestimate her

Nabi
>>109251953

Sometimes she misses important parts of the story when she talks but not here, she was on point and made Roshi and Lupa stay in line with the plot when they were assuming certain things wrongly

Nabi
>>109257527

Roshi looks like he's paying attention but at the end he understands the same amount as Lupa who doesn't even try to pay attention LMAO

John Endaya

In my mind, the star-eyes were a sign that Akane was really embodying Ai, much in the same way Sheera described. I didn't read the manga, but I imagine that in order to convey to the reader that she was beginning to act like Ai, they would have needed to communicate that in a 2D still-image frame. If they didn't, it would just look like Akane with a vague similarity to Ai. What I noticed too was that Akane changed the way she breathes out her words. Akane's VA sounds like she would cut her breath short at the end of most phrases or take in a last second breath before the last intonation. So far, in Ai-mode, she releases her entire breath and doesn't do that last-second inhale. Maybe I'm crazy.

soul keeper

All imma say is Tom cruse

Jacob The weird

I think the subs were wildin during Akane’s research on Ai becuz I don’t remember the manga having lines like that lol

BornUnMotivated

So I think yall were onto something with her joining their group so imma counter your argument about the agency thing. They didn't seem like they cared for her at all and now she brought a bunch of negative pr before they made the video. So I think they would let her leave but obviously I could be wrong maybe she the next villain and becomes a yandere and abducts aqua

Anonymous Snek

The eyes are like the demon slayer breathing effects, only we see them

Shadow Garden

Id say Their ages are added to their past life especially aqua who literally died while she gave birth😂

King Kryptic

Her acting like Ai low-key scared me

Pan Cakes

AKANE GOING DEMON MODE LMAOOO, seeing it animated was cool af

Colonel

"Bro if I ever call you outside to have a conversation at THIS time-" 🤣🤣🤣

Orlando

she activated her mangekyo sharingan

this is one long ass username
>>109251953

Actually most of the time she talks over critical moments forcing a corny sexual joke and her constant need to jump at EVERY chance to make a lame joke gets annoying really fast

Marcus Lyles
>>109282297

I’ve never had an original thought, I’m sad, I was thinking “Magekyo Staringon” since i seen the thumbnails for the episode and swore I was on to a funny joke/reference

Kevinsog24

Akane boutta dive into being Ai like Heath Ledger did with the Joker. “You wanna know how I got these eyes” 😭😂

Kami_Psy

I think the eyes are symbolic and something only the viewers can see. If you've noticed Aqua's star thing in his eye changes from white to black depending on what he's saying and nobody comments about them having stars in their eyes.

Gilthwixt
>>109301701

Na it definitely did but the difference in mediums meant they had to approach in a different way, kind of like Shirogane's room reveal in the Kaguya movie. Go back and check it out again if you want proof, it's Chapter 28.

Sunshine Hall

The stars in the eyes of the characters aren't actually visible to the other characters. The author explained it to be a visualization of their star potential, Ai having two because she was the ultimate star, Aqua and Ruby having 1 each because as they are her kids, they share her potential, and now Akane having two because of her potential in acting but also her acting like Ai the ultimate star.

Matrim Hall

They kept mentioning earlier in the episode that the look in Ai's eyes (lol) were a major part of what set her apart from other people, so Akane is emulating her facial expression, physical behaviors, vocal tones, etc based on the research she did.

Bobby Robinson

Akane is literally doing method acting, shera is correct a lot of actors do that to get ready for a role or they do certain things. a real good/bad example is Heath ledger do you know what he did to get ready for the role of joker he put himself through some really mental taxing stuff but his performance will never be forgotten

lyssa

Not roshi and them thinking the eyes are something the characters can literally see 😭

AllanJ

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but an article came out after last weeks episode talking about how Oshi no Ko's Darkest Moment is based on a Real Tragedy. "In the fifth season of the Japanese reality show Terrace House, a contestant named Hana Kimura seemed to get angry at another contestant for shrinking her laundry. She knocked off his hat, told him to be more considerate in the future, and then stormed off. Later it was revealed that this was staged by the producers who wanted to generate conflict, and there was no bad blood between the people involved. However, after that incident, Hana was relentlessly cyberbullied by numerous fans, which eventually led to her death by suicide. It was a terrible tragedy that Oshi no Ko replicated with Akane's descent into darkness."

Lucky Licks

Does anyone know what chapter of the manga this is or leaves off of

Spider-Mook

The eyes are just a representation of captivating looks.

sotonye ogan

pls let this be the last time yall be talking about some eyes like this is an anime lol. Sheera was so clutch cuz lupa and roshi at the end was just goofing around lmao

JustPuttingS

yall need to learn how the eyes aren't a physical thing lmfao

JsnSkg

She closed her eyes, and then opened them. How or when would she have put in contacts? XD

Arkan Matlub

I really don't know how they still don't understand that the stars in the eyes aren't real and is just a "metaphor" for Ai

Arkan Matlub
>>109348202

Yes, except in that case, even in the manga, she was supposed to be shown as "Crazy"

LY
>>109493921

yeah, Sheera already pointed that out though

Lupa is Dadi

sheera and lupa/roshi had both valid points on how she went on with that (overly) researching bit, both points id be fine with if i had to choose one

MethodTKT

i believe it was a sense of "unhinged" but thats method acting.

Jojo_avena

I mean when home girl was being unhinged isnt it like how that Joker from the Dark Knight Trilogy kinda did it he was so into the role he still play the character afterwards.

DsWorldd •
>>109483434

Welp for one it’s an anime, and for two it hasn’t been explained in show that it’s just a metaphor Also if anything several characters talked about them having “unique/characteristic eyes” so idk wym

Clinton Vance

I’ve trained in method acting—Akane’s doing method acting. She’s creating truth through meticulous research of the actual truth so that she can *be* the character believably, it’s not a performance.

Coatl45

I saw that wall, and my first thought was that if anyone was going to figure out Aqua and Ruby’s secret, it’d be her. As far as potential insanity when it showed her research, I just figured that was a thing some actors did, and she got drawn way too deep into researching the role.

Coatl45
>>109332815

It would’ve been pretty damn difficult to hide the fact that they were AI’s kids if that was something that ran in their family that people could see.

JotaroDrake

Nah kids and grown ass men and women still throwing hard r in game chat to this day 😭
