I also think Tae-ju acted on his own because sheera is right, it doesn’t make sense to send people to kill her then think she’s gonna be loyal after. He wanted to test her loyalty by going to the police station so he wouldn’t send someone to kill her because that would just defeat the purpose. Plus, I don’t think he would kill her that way considering that Tae-ju said Mujin likes to personally kill his traitors.

Lol yeah, a good amount of Asian name structure goes last name-first name, it can catch you blindsided if you’re not super used to it. But man, “(possibly secret) villain raises protagonist as one of their own to eventually surpass or kill them” is one of my favorite tropes, so I was sold from the beginning when I first caught on.

Choi didn't send Taeju to kill her though. In their phone call, Taeju says they need to kill her, but Choi doesn't respond. Choi isn't surprised to see her at the precinct when he turns himself in, which if he had sent someone to kill her, you'd imagine his reaction would be different. Also, he mentions to the lawyer that he turned himself in to test her loyalty (which he wouldn't need to do if he wanted her dead) and she passed by throwing away her whole cover.
