Look how quick that situation escalated it was a matter of seconds and you can't hesitate in those situations or you die. Here's the thing though, from their perspective, they're probably bringing Khadijah and the kid to visit Skully's mom and you see Leon, the guy you tried to drive-by and his crew parked there, you can only come to the conclusion that they're there to get revenge so I think the logical move is to quickly shoot them before they shoot you ESPECIALLY with the boss's wife and daughter in the car. Leon and crew had reason to believe Skully's men would shoot at them, and Skully's men had reason to believe that Leon is there for revenge after the failed drive-by AND they have Skully's wife and daughter in the car (possibly escorting them to visit Skully's family) so they had to make an immediate decision or risk getting shot up by Leon. No, they didn't have time to just hit the gas and get out. That involves getting shot at as well.
