Best episode of the series. Richie and Chef Terry's convo gets me every time

Danger Tomato

If you need space just dump baki

Thunter

Phew, I was worried the bear fans weren’t gonna get their episode today 😂

Ershy

LmAo

Erd'na

Do you remember how we used to hate Tina and Richie? This episode is the reason why i like the bear so much. The character development is phenomenal.

Danny

Yo let's fucking GOOoOO!!! Even halfway across the world he's still the goat 🐐

kingBD
>>128491061

Damn i never hated richie lol just thought he talked too much but thats just him 😂

Devin B

As much as I wouldn't want to go to a high end restaurant to pay a bunch of money for a small amount of food, the presentation and creativity of the dishes does look intriguing. It would only be a one time thing for me just to say I experienced fine dining.

13

This is why I sub, putting in work even on vacation 😭❤️

lyssa

Making us wait on purpose i see

Allison Veluz

It was mentioned in the first episode but Richie and Tiff were already divorced. When Richie and Carmy were talking in the refrigerator in the first episode Richie was telling him about his expenses for the divorce lawyer. Also Richie asked his daughter when he brought her to school about Tiff's boyfriend Frank. Just wanted to clear up any confusion.

Jahari Fields

Sheera never letting that Spider-Man room go💀

Red Death

Pretty sure Richie and Tiff were already divorced.

saintvenom

So glad yall saw this finally. One of my favorite episodes ever. Definitely an emotional experience.

hypokokoro

let's go! been waiting

Joe Gunawan

The best episode of the year! Absolutely love this character growth for Richie!

Sham3ful
>>128492755

Peter's nasty ass room from the show "Hoarders" genuinely scarred her lmaoo

PJ Rivera

Dang, gotta love the dedication roshi and his crew has

bleach

This episode made me like Richie's character so much more

Azzy V

Not y’all getting on them about the pizza 😂😂 But Richie has made such great progress it shows that age doesn’t matter you can always start over and try again ❤️🫶🏼 Also another thing I do believe that when eyebrows in ep 5 was talking about someone being better than him he was talking about Carmen

Calem Joseph

Lupa is confused about the stars, three stars is more prestigious than the one star Sydney wants. They would be decently beneath that restaurant even if they got the star

Simo
>>128491885

Personally I like to compare it to a concert - you're paying a few hundred bucks one time for an experience you'll never forget, and the people you go with make a huge difference. The meals are actually pretty filling most of the time too, since they're small plates, but often 8-15 courses, even up to 30 in some cases.

13

Lupa probably wont get to read this, but three stars is the max

Carlos

The most heart ans soul healing thing I watched last year.

Jrock

Man I’m begging yall to please watch Andor. Richie’s actor is in the show as well. Yall would love it!

Jae

I don’t think Richie was married. I think she was his ex-girlfriend/babymama. he was hoping that he could get back with her, but it was too late. she only called and told him about the marriage outta respect for him because she do care about him to an extent but not as a love interest

Devin B
>>128492755

Bro is able to clean the streets of NYC but not his own room, I don't blame her for thinking that way

Jr

my favorite episode of this whole show

Saki
>>128495135

they were married actually! its been mentioned that they've already gotten/are in the process of getting divorced, presumably in part due to the communication issues shown in the last episode i would think. definitely seems like they still care for each other, but it wasn't a healthy relationship

DestructoDiscman

Tbf the pizza was a literal freebie they threw in at no cost, so they can’t get mad if it’s repurposed little Caesar’s deep dish lol. Love this ep tho, maybe my favourite

Jae
>>128495135

Ohh okay thanks for clearing that up. I didn’t catch that in the show I thought they was at least dating to at best in the process of getting married

DestructoDiscman
>>128494817

They seriously need to watch andor. It makes every other Star Wars show look like trash in comparison

Virtu

It's been brought a few times during The Bear, one thing to note for fine dining restaurants like the one showed here is that while each individual course is small ---the experience has many, many courses (depending where you go anywhere from 5-12 plates usually) You aren't likely to leave hunger, especially if you opt in to drink pairings with each course. Especially if they end up tossing extras like shown in the episode, its such a fun way to experience the height of someone's cooking ability and creativity---that I absolutely loved every time I have gotten the chance to go somewhere like this. This was my favorite episode of the season, I'm so glad to finally watch y'alls reaction. Looking forward to the rest

Anti-M

They wouldn't have charge them for the pizza. That would've been on the house which would've made their experience even better.

Kriolemansus

Three stars are the most amount of stars you can get and one is the least. The stars they are talking about are Michelin stars (yes the tire company). Michelin started making a restaurant guide back in 1900 to promote restaurant so people would take trips to visit them to wear out their tires. Michelin stars are now considered the best rating system for restaurants in the world. One star means the restaurant is very good in its category. Two means it is worth taking a detour in your trip to visit the restaurant. Three means the restaurant is worth taking a trip just to eat there.

A. P.

Favorite episode! Can't unsee Richie in a durag now lol

Jrock
>>128494817

Not even just Star Wars it’s just an elite show. Period!

Saki
>>128495135

np! ya i think its been a bit since it was mentioned, but i believe it was one of his plot points in season 1 more so, with some mention of how much a divorce lawyer costs or smthn

Danny
>>128494443

Yeah he was definitely tallking about Carmy. I like the forshadowing. It makes that photo reveal extra dope.

gabriel250c .

I just assumed Richie and Tiff were divorced and he still wears the ring. Are they actually just separated?

Robert

They went to Pequod’s Pizza which is legit deep dish in Chicago. But I do think they messed with the pizza too much and ruined what deep dish is supposed to be. Still it’s neat for a tasting menu restaurant

DTGstl314
>>128495135

They were married - in the last episode, at the dinner table before everything blew up, Uncle Jimmy said to Richie, "I'm trying to have a conversation with your wife".

DTGstl314
>>128496425

At no extra cost, but the tasting menu dinner at that restaurant runs $325 per person, so pretty sure they'll still be fine even with the comped deep dish. They shot the episode at a real high-end Chicago restaurant called Ever, but the actual restaurant only has one Michelin star, not three. And nobody has ever rated it as the best restaurant in the world as far as I know (but even getting just one Michelin star is still a really big deal).

L1NG

atleast i can set the quality on streamable, how this isnt on patreon yet is wild

Champion Bescos

Fantastic episode, glad y’all liked it. To clear a few things up: 1. The impromptu pizza surprise for that table was just that - an on the house surprise, going above and beyond. They can’t just serve a Pequod’s pizza as is because it would mess with the pacing and theme of the dinner (which is often already 5 to 7 courses at these places), but giving them a little ‘elevated’ taste of something they weren’t going to be able to try? Unsolicited and on the house? That’s amazing customer service and hospitality. Can’t clown that, guys. 2. Richie is divorced from his ex. He simply chooses to wear the ring because he clearly still loves her. :( 3. As others have mentioned for Lupa, the Michelin star rating goes from 1 star (the lowest and most common, but still exceptional) to 3 stars, the latter of which this unnamed restaurant and the likes of NOMA are, and the former of which is like the Filipino place Syd went to in episode 3. So The Bear is gonna be great and a lot of fun, but still fairly casual and far less pricey than this place. 4. When Chef Terry said she didn’t do favors, I expected a reaction of some sort like I had. Lol. That line is basically already saying to the audience (and Richie) that she didn’t take him on as a favor to Carmy, but because he was vouched for as being talented, capable, good with people. She wouldn’t have taken him otherwise. That’s high praise and says how much Carmy cares about Richie without having to spell it out (which the episode oddly does a minute or two later). 5. Without spoilers, just keep in mind the opening of this episode. It was a dialogue about leadership. Syd was the one watching/listening to the coach as she worked on her dish, then it showed Carmy and Nat and crew at the restaurant, but then the episode cut to and remained focused solely on Richie..

In the United States, there are 230 restaurants that currently have any Michelin stars, out of nearly 160,000 non-chain restaurants in the country. New York City has more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other city in the US - 69. Chicago also has a lot (21), as does California (85), and then there are some in Washington, DC and Florida as well. Only 13 American restaurants currently have three Michelin stars - 4 in NYC, 3 in San Francisco, 2 in Chicago, 1 in DC, 1 in San Diego, and 2 in Northern California (Napa and Sonoma Counties). Anyway, getting even one Michelin star is still a pretty big deal, and it puts you comfortably among the very best restaurants in whatever city you are in. Only 21 of the 7,000+ restaurants in Chicago have any Michelin stars.

Sekraan
>>128496533

Those are the original rating explanations. These days one star is enough to take a very sizable detour if you are looking for fine dining options. They've adjusted the definitions since then - and I believe some requirements were removed, like having to have set tasting menus and no a la carte. The Michelin site usually has great restaurant recommendations in case you are looking for interesting food near you. They do include notable restaurants that didn't get stars. Admittedly more useful if you are in a major metro area.

DarquanJr

Its really cool that Richy used to be the source of chaos but now learns tho control the kitchin. This show is totaly an anime

Sekraan
>>128495135

Also, Richie is still prominently wearing his ring. So is his ex in this episode, though it's unclear if that's her old ring or the new one.

CleoKujo

Wait what!? I didn’t even know storage was a thing on here lol

Delinda Arts
>>128496123

On their play through of Spider Man 2, they were in Peters NASTY ASS house or it was Aunt May’s nasty ass house lol

Delinda Arts

It’s a small detail but once Richie said he “saw the pattern” that sent chills down my spine bc I love that feeling of when something finally clicks. It’s truly so validating when you’re in a new environment. Love Richies growth.

These Plums

Where are all the places we've seen "Every Second Count"? The Bear/Beef (Carmy wrote it). Copenhagen. And now this episode's restaurant (Terry's father is the origin of it).

Azzy V

Hey another fact Richie and Micheal both played in the punisher

dawn

best episode and best character

JPriv32

I love how this show always plants little things from previous episodes. When you see that picture of Luca and Carmy in the kitchen you realize he is the better chef Luca was referring to in that scene with Marcus. Carmy is really HIM

Mr T Allery
>>128494703

no hes not? he means like since he saw how a 3 star does things he knows its going to be hard to get just even a star with how the 3 star operates.

rajave

They shot this episode at Ever, an actual restaurant in Chicago (though this version is fictionalized -- the real one has two Michelin stars, though the chef Curtis Duffy is also known for his former three-Michelin star restaurant Grace). It opened May 2021 just after the COVID vaccines were made available. The restaurant actually looks like that. The skeleton in the kitchen ceiling is apparently because the chef has a thing about skeletons. When I ate there they served this pea puree shaped like a skull. It was delicious but definitely "art food" lol

Origae
>>128491061

Never hated him, he was always one of my faves since the first season, and this episode just made me like the character even more.

lyssa

It was really exciting to see the growth

rajave
>>128494817

I don't even really like Star Wars that much but I _loved_ Andor

zacharie garondo

i just saw JWA in the Iron claw he was amazing in it and i belive Harris Dickinson would make a great guest star in the show

Metweet .c

With the whole getting a Michelin star for the Bear I hope that atleast in season 3 that their is an arc for Syd to realise that you don't need one to be recognised as a great chef or restaurant. It's crazy how young chefs always fight to have one or keep it when you hear veteran amazing chefs like Marco pierre white just talk about how bullshit the whole system is.

Peyton Denisar

The point of the Michelin restaurant is not JUST the food. It's totally fine to not be interested in more than food when you're the customer but I hope they'll start to get as the show goes on that it's also about the pageantry, the service, and the experience. That deep dish would 100% not be on their bill either, despite they used resources that cost the place money, because the people who grant the stars grant them (typically) for exemplary SERVICE going above and beyond for your patrons. Real places like this in New York have gone so far as to get someone a dog from a Hot Dog Cart because they overheard someone was leaving the next day and mentioned they had forgotten to ever try one. The point is to be extra because you are paying for that extra.

Mukatutu

God damn it...streamable....for some reason the videos on this site in particular load incredibly slow here in Malaysia. Wish it was on a private youtube video or something. Or atleast have 720p quality so I don't have to choose between blurry 360p with ok buffering vs 1080p but super slow loading :,(

Calem Joseph
>>128494703

Idk man, he says "only" three stars which implies he thinks it's lesser than one star. And it's a weird comparison to make if this wasn't the case.

awwtysm
>>128491885

Its not a small amount of food. They're small plates served multiple times. You are not going to leave hungry, in fact the most common response for people who try real tasting menus for the first time is that its too much food.

Fizzy

this was the episode where Ritchie became my favorite since I relate a lot with him, this show has so many great life lessons you wouldn't believe it is a cooking show.

Fraudkuna
>>128519742

Yeah, the Streamable players remembers my volume settings at least. Lol

zILovePelmeni _
>>128519742

and it actually lets you choose to stream in 1080p. sometimes the patreon player scales it down for no reason

User100

Great ep per usual!

Bria A.

Lol, they weren’t scamming. The deep dish was a surprise / freebie and Richie even said the name of the place they sourced it from — the restaurant just had to get it up to their own presentation standard. Also: Damn, Olivia Colman cameo at the end? Ayo! (I haven’t watched it but she was in fact in Secret Invasion.)

ChrisM

Lupa has it confused.. The more stars the betterThey are acting that way because it’s a 3 star (which is better than a 1 star).

em

this episode was dope, richie finally found his thing

Bria A.
>>128494703

I think he just thinks it’s out of five instead of out of three. 😅

Mantross

My favorite episode of the Bear so far

Johnnetta
>>128509412

Can also confirm that they do research on their guests!! I went there with a friend I knew from college and when we sat down, they gave us a version of a drink that's only popular at that school. It was mind-blowing.

Kablamoo101

its so weird watching richie work in that restaurant because it is exactly like that😂 will never miss working there

Majin buussin

They gave Ritchie that Issac treatment (IYKYK) in terms of character development and I was alllll for it.

Kryptik _

This is my second time watching the show, but when I saw the photo of Luca and Carmy standing together, it clicked in my brain that the chef Luca was talking about that made him better was probably carmy, just a theory but it makes sense right?

October Veil

Gotta give it up for Olivia Coleman who drops in for the best scene of the season! Also it occurred to me that the picture of Carmy and random poulter confirms that poulter’s character was referring to Carmy when talking about the guy who was so much better than him.

Kevinsog24
>>128566188

it goes with what Carm said before that he saw others as competition and he smoked em and that’s what Luca said happened to him

Edwin Melendez

My favorite episode. Richie found his purpose!!!!

rYenis

Idris Ebra is a wild name

Griff
>>128566188

That’s exactly who he was talking about. It’s how Carmy has Luca teach Marcus.

Thiccc Mexican259
>>128499720

exactly, like I wish I could do that because sometimes I'm in the bus and watching through my phone but because of the shitty connection, I have to watch it in very low quality.

Mr T Allery
>>128494703

I think he means like since the bear isnt some top level chefs like the 3 star is he is stunned by them trying to get even one star because its hard to get that even from what we have seen on screen from our chefs. They have been chaotic and all over the place so its hard to imagne they will get a star. does that make sense?

Bree

You guys should check Severance next, it's really great and deserves the love.

ICFreezie

i love yall so much ♥

Leon

This was a great episode it was good seeing it click for Richie and he finally see the vision. He also found his purpose he's about to go hard.

Kere Jibi
>>128494703

Yes, in one of the previous episodes, I think they mentioned 5 star Michelin restaurants by mistake which is why it might explain why he said "only" three stars because he thinks 5 is the max although the highest rank is 3 stars.

Hueki Yuuki

I'm literally in love with this show ! It's so good, I can't wait for more. AND YES CHEF, WE"RE GETTING A SEASON 3 !

Ryan J

Wait lowkey the Lupa reference about Shoyo being a ball boy kinda hit.

Robert

Since The Bear is ending soon, I recommend replacing it with Ted. It’s 7 episodes, which is a quick watch, and a really funny sitcom.

john segun doe

Holy crap WOW! Richie legit made me tear up multiple times this ep. Might be my fav character... WOW Amazing ep Oh and btw Chef Terry is the GOATED D.S Miller from Broadchurch GUYS PLZ FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WE NEED THEM TO WATCH BROADCHURCH. Someone help me start the movement lol

Infinity

This is the best episode of the entire series.

DTGstl314
>>128492972

Correct. Richie is still wearing his wedding ring because he's having trouble letting go.

DTGstl314
>>128494703

To be fair, getting even just one star is still a really big deal. There are currently only 230 restaurants in the entire country that have any Michelin stars at all. That might sound like a lot, but keep in mind, there are more than 150,000 non-chain full service restaurants in the US - 99.85% of them do not have any Michelin stars. Having just one Michelin star still means you're among the top 0.15% of all restaurants in the country. Chicago has 21 restaurants with Michelin stars (only two of them have three stars), NYC has 69 Michelin-starred restaurants, and California has 85 of them. The remaining 55 are spread around the country in cities like Washington, DC and Miami, FL.

DTGstl314
>>128499847

The restaurant in this episode is a real restaurant in Chicago called Ever (you can see the restaurant's logo on the chef's uniform)... but the actual restaurant only has two Michelin stars (which is still exceptionally good), and hasn't ever been rated the best restaurant in the world. https://www.ever-restaurant.com/

DTGstl314
>>128515283

Eating the cost of the pizza isn't a big deal for a place like that - they're charging $325/person for the tasting menu (not including drinks), so forking out $20 for a pizza to impress the patrons isn't going to hurt their margins much.

Peyton Denisar
>>128515283

Totally, not at all. But it is still a cost they eat at the end of the day. Big or small it's taking a hit to provide stellar service

Champion Bescos
>>128604636

Absolutely. They’d be the first reactors I see tackle such a great show. Roshi would especially dig it and it would put Sheera’s “sheerigan” to the test.

DTGstl314
>>128926198

I think this is the most heart-warming episode of the entire series, and definitely one of the best. But in terms of pure brilliance, it's pretty damn hard to surpass Fishes (2x6). From the dialogue, to the blocking, to the emotional heft, to the chaos, it encapsulated what makes Carmy and Sugar the people they are perfectly. I didn't feel good at all after I watched that episode, but I definitely emerged from it thinking "everything makes sense now".

Nareenio

Richie having this character development is amazing and definitely shows how much of a peoples person he is. He no longer has to be the replacement or the fill-in for Michael and can now venture out into himself and become Richie because let's face it. Richie definitely was trying to fill the hole Michael left by being overly aggressive and rude so now that he realizes time is catching up on him. He has to tighten up. People believe in him and I wish Michael had gone through something similar to Richies because their situations somehow parallel each other

Majin buussin
>>128560844

Castlevania Issac, nobody expected the amount of character growth and development for that man

Mollywopper

I used to go to this seafood place called barnacles when I was a kid. They had Shirley temples where they literally just brought out some sprite and dropped cotton candy in it and it'd dissolve just like that cloud thing. Used to blow my fuckin mind lmao.

Mollywopper

That picture makes me think Luca was talking about carmy when he mentioned that one chef he could only try to keep up with.

Able

Regarding the deep dish pizza bit. The chef immediately notices the pizza was burnt black on the sides. So he plated it by cutting out sections in the middle that he could salvage and added complimentary sauces. Also this was a surprise add and they didn't charge extra, it was a service for the customer.

Terrel Hudson

Can’t even watch this episode because the damn screen won’t rotate 😩 damn you streamable

Gate

For the high school couple that got the free meal, its about blowing their minds, but they're gonna tell everyone they know and instragram about what an amazing experience it was and hype up the restaurant's already high reputation.

Tyshawn Evans
>>131517725

Ik im late but all you have too do is open streamable on web browser and it’ll rotate

Terrel Hudson
>>131517725

lol I was able to watch it but thank you I can use this for the future if anything happens
