Never thought this show would bring me to tears wtf was this season!?

DIOR

expecting tears to be shed th- nevermind lol. I cried hard as hell watching this last night, show's too good. barry's torment is too much. hope bro get a decent ending SOMEHOW

DIOR
>>131553758

shoutout to everyone who rec'd this btw wasnt expecting it to be so good.

Tyrese Marshall

I wouldn't normally recommend, I just like to go along with the flow, but I'd love for them to check out Black Sails, hopefully to follow Barry but definitely eventually. Underrated masterpiece of a show, on par with Warrior, but I doubt it would win a poll and if it did, it might sadly do Warrior type numbers on YT.

Smash Bran'Discootch

Lol yall read that WAAAAY wrong, respectfully. Gene hates Barry. He's terrified of him. Janice was a good cop, and Barry got her. To Gene, NOBODY can stop Barry. Until Jim convinced him otherwise. Gene wasn't warning Barry away. He wasn't dropping hints. He was trying to convince Barry that the only way out of this was to kill Jim so that Barry would walk in with the gun that Gene made sure Barry had so that he would be caught in the act. I legitimately have no clue how yall think Gene cares for Barry. Like he literally smiled as Barry was being led away in handcuffs.

Danny

I'm pretty sure Gene set Barry up. He acted like he was gonna go shoot Jim and pretended to have a meltdown so barry wouldn't have his guard up. He basically baited him to go in the house.

Renni .

Masterful episode

Smash Bran'Discootch

Exactly! Gene even brought the gun so he could make sure Barry had a weapon on him so he would get caught red handed.

John Cedar

That kind of gay conversion torture is still a thing, its commonly done in countries that have made homosexuality illegal, and they try to "fix someone" by forcing them to watch gay porn and then use electric shocks or a drug that induces vomiting to cause a negative connection in the brain to being aroused. It eventually can cause such a traumatic response that someone will not have any sexual or romantic response to any person ever again.

Frederick

A Masterclass in every way. I’m so sorry for sleeping on this series. 🔥

Zim

this had me stressed! great reaction c:

YaBoyRoshi
>>131556023

yeah we fully realize what timing hes on in ep 1 of season 4 lol. There was stil some confusion at first but not after the end of that one lol

bleach

Bill Hader needs to direct a movie because Bill's direction was on point with Barry

EmoBurrito

Man I can not sympathize with Sally or Barry at all. Also I don't know, you have to be pretty fucking weak willed if repeating question is enough to "break you down". Either way, probably favorite season so far. You really can't tell what the end game of the show is going to be. Like is it a redemption story? I'm enjoying the ride.

Guav

the animal was a panther

Oni Legend

Out of an entire season of just….fucking everything and all the darkness and surprise lmao, somehow it still managed just completely throw me for a loop when Barry points that gun and you immediately hear “FREEZE! DROP THE FUCKING GUN BERKMAN!!!” and it takes a second to sink in that holy shit Barry actually got caught like he’s actually going down after seeing him make his way through every challenge presented to him. Insane season finale and even more insane season as a whole That whole scene with Albert ending with the Starting Now is genuinely something special like the amount of shit that went into that entire scene and the weight it held man my god. At even with all of that Barry fell right back into it IMMEDIATELY without even thinking about it

Jackson perez
>>131558808

This comment comes from someone who has never experienced anything traumatic in their life. You would be shocked how easy it is to break someone.

FlyGod

ngl this was one of the greatest television episodes of all time just a masterpiece

General Grevious
>>131558808

I got a completely different interpretation, Sally and Barry are two different types of bad people yet we can empathize with them because we know how they got to that point. As for the thing with Gene, Janice’s dad is known for his manipulation tactics and I doubt any normal person wouldn’t already be close to breaking after what Gene has went through.

PJ Rivera

I love the cinematography in this show

sotonye ogan

Damn yall didn't read that last situation well at all but tbf Roshi initially was catching up to the fact that Gene was in on the plan with Jim to take down Barry all along but Sheera lowkey pressed him into thinking Gene didn't want to do it cuz "he tried to warn him ". anyways it will be clearer in the next eps.

Metweet .c

I feel so bad for Jim at the end. He got the man who killed his daughter but she's still gone. Like I feel bad for Barry but you took this man's daughter. The final shot of Jim really hurts

Skye Brooklyn

nah sheets there ain’t no excuse for torturing a man like that. conversion therapy is fucked up it don’t matter if he cheated NOBODY deserves that shit. to defend that especially with THAT argument of all things is wild to ngl

EmoBurrito
>>131558808

@Jackson OR maybe some people just have stronger wills than others, and don't crumble when someone repeats a question to them.

Helpy
>>131558808

You just don't understand psychology maybe, Gene is already carrying guilt and is at war with himself in his mind. Jim Moss's existence already pressures Gene because of his relation to Janice. Jim questioning him intensely like that just broke him down because Gene knows what he's doing doesn't make sense, protecting Barry, not being selfless and doing something about the person who killed someone he loved. To have her father address him with the very thing he's been struggling with is basically telling Gene: "You cannot run away without an answer" like he has been so far. Gene was not weakwilled at all, he has been broken since her death and slowly breaking down before Jim even arrived and this was just the final straw. As for sympathizing with Barry and Sally, the whole show is about trying to understand their twisted perspectives so you gotta figure that one out on your own because it's what makes the show work. They are both very flawed and human.

Taiwo Aileru

whilst Janice was alive, did she mention her dad prior? Bc if so that is masterful writing

Davon Thomas

In the first episode of this season I believe Barry told Gene he's a terrible actor. This was Gene putting on the master class putting his acting on full display

Spriggz

Dope season and reaction!

EmoBurrito
>>131558808

Here we go with the pretentious pseudo phycology comments 🙄. What you said was true about Gene, he already feels guilty. But he shouldn’t have been there to begin with. He could’ve simply said no and not have went there but instead he caved in and was weak willed. He can both feel very guilt and ALSO weak willed. None of those contradict each other.

xProKnockz

Them pants was up his ass🤣

Edwin Melendez

Pedro Pascal lololololololololololol!!! SMH! Roshi!

YonatanDS

damn, first time as far as i can remember that we saw Roshi get teary eyed but thats understandable this episode was hard to watch.

Davante Adkins
>>131561538

Then again if Barry let moss take him we wouldn’t even have a show, you can say Barry is the villain here but none of this happened without fuechs teaching him it’s okay, that’s like blaming grisha for what eren manipulated him to do

max

this still isn't even as tense as this show can get. every season is better than the last Bill Hader is goated

Mario Carranza

the sheeragan blind today. did they forget that Gene is supposed to be a genuinely good actor.

Jarek Mirowski

they didn't catch the "starting now" line, mann

Fred_D3

2 things I’ll never understand is Barry’s obsession with sally who is objectively a terrible person, & why all those dirt bike riders were willing to crash out like this over $1700 🤣. I refuse to believe they don’t have that much money between all of them dirt bike maintenance is expensive

Helpy
>>131565833

I assure you they did, they constanlty reference it, it's just they were all emotional in that moment lol

Andrea Royal

Bill Hader went from Saturday Night Live to this??? The man is an amazing comedian, actor and director.

Dc Jerome

“GENE go home Nigga “😂💀

Aaron Gauntt

Just so you know, it was confirmed that it was in fact a panther they sent in that room, not a tiger

Jalan

Honestly I can’t blame Barry. People just won’t let him move on and heal. Everyone else keeps getting into shit and bringing him into the darkness. Every time he gets close to be done, it’s either Fuches, Gene, Hank, Janice, Janice’s dad, Sally and everybody else who keeps pushing him too far to the point where he gets too deep to get out. Mind you in the beginning of the show he didn’t even kill the man he was supposed to assassinate but Janice was so sure he did and would not let it go

DJ Muldrow
>>131564385

Cries a bit in some other things, he gets upset at bullying and unfair shit, last I can remember him like this was a K-drama when someone died

Jamaal Ellison

What the fuck was this season?! It was such a breath of fresh air as it was being released weekly. This was apportionment viewing for me. When you're watching the first season I'll bet you never imagined this show was capable of the story it was telling.

Delinda Arts

roshi im right there with you man. once Barry broke down while talkin to albert, my eyes started sweating like crazy

Roxy Rezerina

Electroshock conversion therapy was real shit, terrifying

Jamaal Ellison

I have to say, even having nothing to do with this show, maybe because I've felt it's such an underrated series. But seeing you three crying over Barry made me feel like a proud dad. I feel completely vindicated, because I was desperately camping for the trio to react to it. I was the one who told Roshi both this and The Bear were half hour shows. Them getting emotional is a testament to the quality of the writing, directing, and editing.

Jamaal Ellison
>>131567959

Man with the benefit of hindsight him knowing he was capable of doing this was probably why he left SNL.

Skurp
>>131558808

@emoburrito Nah bro you completely missed out on the nuance of the scene and the characters. It’s okay bro we understand you don’t understand.

EmoBurrito
>>131558808

@skurp Whatever helps you feel important and makes you feel smart. Not everyone can be as smart as you Lmaooo

Carlos
>>131555103

Oh God I would subscribe to an even higher tier if they covered Black Sails. One of my favorites shows of all time.

Carlos

The tiger scene or whatever it was fucked me up man, when I was a kid I had a weird and irrational fear that a tiger was gonna escape from the zoo and eat me and that shit brought up that stupid anxiety again lol.

Dan
>>131561278

fr, Gene was acting like he didnt want him to go in which reverse phycology'd him into going in, he knew by saying this guy knows the truth but dont go in would goad berkman to go silence him, just like he did to Janice, and even threatened Gene himself and his family for knowing

The thing that flows

Bear.. tiger.. panther.. My guess would have been taekwondo girl Lilly.

em

barry saw sally lose control just like he did. they both have anger issues, peas in a pod. also im pretty sure barry did a similar thing that moss did, power of suggestion or something, im just guessing because they both learned these kind of tactics in the military

alyssa

yall gean was in on it

Melon Lord
>>131562308

dude, I was listening to, Sheera wasn't justifying her actions, or defending, she was describing WHY Alena resorted to shock conversion therapy.

Melon Lord
>>131558808

Gene, the entire show, was never backing down when it came to his money or even how he felt towards people in higher positions than him, as described by everyone from his past. But it's clear he's feeling extremely guilty when it comes to practically help cover up the murder of his girlfriend from her father, who IS intimidating. So yes, Gene is "weak-willed" and guilty, crazy, you all win this argument, woo. And regardless of what Gene could've done, the writers needed him to be there, and it made sense. Good choice overall.

em
>>131558808

nah the mentalist techniques jim used have been in use by the U.S. military in interrogation/psychological torture tactics since '03. always some musty neckbearded putz like you who thinks they know things and that they'd fare any better in the same situation.

EmoBurrito
>>131558808

Ironic a deku picture calling someone a musty neck beard big yikes lmao. Whatever helps you sleep at night 🫡

Fizzy

This show abilty to make you laugh and then just out of nowhere hit you in the feels is amazing

Lamaree Jackson

Not Roshi actually doing the fucking laughing dad meme at 7:15 I’m dead. Shit had him discombobulated

Cam Kaneki

The brilliance of Barry. It’s so fitting a show about a hitman getting into theater and the ride it puts us on is the basic of theater itself. Comedy and tragedy like the mask.

Jaelyn Mcgee
>>131566248

I think he really idealized Sally as his dream girl and ignored her flaws and basically built up as this perfect girl for him

Jaelyn Mcgee

I think Gene is conflicted about Barry, because he was like the one student that seemed to worship Gene and pay attention to his every word, and then it turns out he killed the love of his life and lied about it, and kidnapped him and threatened his family that he worked so hard to get back into his life, but he also revitalized his career with literal blood money, that Gene willingly took. So I wouldn't be surprised if Gene does hate and love him, and I don't blame him

poisonivybag

I did not think that this show would be this good. wow.

Culdesac Jadoni

It’s a true same that Sarah Goldberg never won an award for her performance as Sally. She put together an all timer and has nothing to show for it

GrayStark
>>131580153

Using it for depression is a completely different thing and only used in specific circumstances. It’s proven effective to. So comparing ECT to conversion therapy is a little uh…

Jake Coulter
>>131655748

Yeah as unlikeable as she can be in the show that just shows how good of an actor she is.

Jake Coulter
>>131645847

Yeah not many shows I can think of that can sway between darkness and humor so effortlessly. Reminds of the show Patriot but much better.

Jake Coulter
>>131582016

Yeah for sure and even if he was conflicted he didn’t really have a choice but to turn on Barry.

Jake Coulter
>>131564506

Yeah and Bill Hader said in an interview he was kind of losing his mind because he directed the whole series and you can see he channeled that into season 4 😂

Jake Coulter
>>131562630

Hmm watched this series 3 times now and I don’t recall Janice ever mentioning her dad. Could be wrong though

lyssa

I think I’ll give this show a shot

DxShadow

Y'all forget Gene is an actor, i dont think he tried "saving" barry.

Chelsea Bondzanga
>>131569563

Tbh Barry has killed too many people and has never suffered the consequences. It was about time they caught up to him. It was horrible seeing him cry, but he can have that luxury while the others are six feet under. Dead. You can't come back from that. Just because he's moved on doesn't mean their families have to.

lyssa

Wow this really surprised me

Dexter

Cocked his gun in front of us💀 so good

Leo

That end scene with Barry and Gene outside Jim's house was the best acting Gene has ever done in his life he probably was telling Barry not to go in there to just show that Barry was acting on his own accord without being manipulated for the future trial. This whole show has been s tier.
