Watch this live-model demo video to learn more. sEMG (surface electromyography) might sound like sci-fi, but it’s actually a powerful, down-to-earth tool that can help you see what your pelvic floor is doing in real time!

In this video, I walk you through:

What sEMG (surface electromyography) biofeedback is with a real person

How it helps you tune into pelvic floor activity without guessing

Why it’s not just about squeezing, but about timing, coordination, and letting go

Using small sensors either on the skin or internally (vaginally or rectally), you’ll get feedback on a screen showing how your pelvic muscles are firing and how they’re relaxing.

This can be especially helpful if you:

⭐ Struggle to feel your pelvic floor ⭐ Aren’t sure if you’re doing exercises “right” ⭐ Tend to over-recruit or brace without realizing it

Sounds great!! I would like to try it my next visit.

Another great video, I've only had the electrodes do the cover more area? And my last PFPT used a laptop, but this new PFPT used a cart and monitor, also using electrodes. You're always busy and never disappoint. I was just thinking about your sassy salad video the other day. Think you'll ever do another like that? That was fun!

Yeah my therapist used a probe attached to an iPad for a similar assessment. She said it was fairly affordable compared to the cart/monitor setup. It was very useful to determine how I was contracting and releasing internal muscles and was very instructive for me on what to do and not do 😊

I know what you mean Michael

Looks like a very useful tool. Great for the patient to actually be able to see when they engage and relax the pelvic floor.

I’ve done one of these so far, and laying in that position my outer thigh was tightening/cramping, and I felt that was keeping those numbers from dropping. She has me deep breathing in and out. My cadence in breathing is terrible.

Hey, Dr. I am having painful anal spasms which typically wake me from sleep, but have recently begun to occur, while at work. I'm supposed to have this done at my next appointment and did not know exactly what to expect. Thank you for your very fortuitous video!
