This may be redundant to ask, (I am new to patreon and only subscribed for your art) but do you have a post/video where you explain your flawless skin shading?

Snegovski

Hi!! I don’t have an exact tutorial, but I think I get what you mean, the “flawlessly skin” shading effect is, in fact, me trying to keep it as simple as possible, most of the time it’s 3 layers max, the base skin tone, the light OR shadow, depending in what light mood you need, if it’s a dark place - then skin tone darker and light is bright (like here) and vise versa, here tho I used shadow a bit on her pussay cus it was absolutely necessary, but usually I slap myself on the wrist to keep it very very NOT rendered, and focus on color pallet and tones, instead of shading. I keep a black/white mask on top of all the layers to check the tones too

Snegovski

Oh you can mind the third but only briefly 😳

Samsolon

Ahh, I can see what you mean, thank you for your explanation. In my personal artworks I always tend to over render the skin, with all its multitudes of hue shifts ( AND SUBSURFACE SCATTERING OMG ) , but I always feel like I am a) wasting time and b) end up with a worse result. But thank you for sharing your perspective. I am massively impressed by your artwork and also added a bunch of your renders to my general mood board for my future style , because I am always floored by how well everything looks, as well as how creative you are. I am not used to NSFW but I feel like coming up with these creative representations is not as easy as it looks. Looking forward to literally everything you will be doing in the future sfw or not

“My master told me women enjoy receiving this kind of gift”

Snegovski

Whoah I’m honored really.. and btw yeah o think it’s totally fine to be real about your strong and weak sides, some people are good with paintary/academic things, some are better at “cell shading” anime-frames-like styles, I tried my best in heavy render too and came to the same conclusion as you, even if the result was decent the time I spent on it simply doesn’t worth it and didn’t made me happy, so yeah I’d focus on shapes colors and overall values too, basically a good anime frame is a great reference for the “simpler” coloring style of bodies, plus backgrounds

Samsolon

Thank you, I will see how things look in 6 months of improvement, specifically with that angle in mind. I don't expect you to remember my name, but I might even come back in the future and compliment you again on your shading and the fact that I can now do it as well 😂. That being said, speak to you soon

Snegovski

THATS THE SPIRIT good luck!! I’d be happy to hear from you from the other side, and I’m sure if you’ll mention the Frieren Christmas special I’d def remember our talk xD I’m always glad to discuss art theory cus it’s a thing I’m constantly learning about too 💖😤 have a great time💪

chrome_gutz

NO FRIEREN!! THAT DOESN'T HAVE A FLARED BASE!!!

Super Hornet

Love that Stark bought himself a rifle, +50% effectiveness
