Hey guys. I’ve finally managed to recover a bit from the initial shock (my first reaction was to sit and draw other pictures huh) and reworked the artwork. In the original version, I had gone through way too many Teto memes while gathering references. On top of that, I read the story about how her creators were accused of making her too "military," and for some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to draw her in the spirit of those memes...

The next morning, I woke up to find that, for many, I had suddenly become a "nz enjoyer" and so on. The season of harassment and death threats on Twitter had already been open for several days. These people have made up their minds; to them, I’ll forever be a public enemy number one. There’s no point in talking about it anymore.

I just wanted to explain the situation to my patrons and those who care about what I do. Plus, I really like how the artwork turned out overall—I spent a lot of time refining the lighting and gesture. And it feels unfair to deprive my patrons of content because of my dumb mistakes. Thank you all as always.Thank you all for the support as always.

So many people need to touch grass

Nimrod

I didn't even notice the SS in the original piece, but I'm glad you're not actually a n*zi. There might have been a more severe reaction due to the unfortunate state of the current political climate as well.

Eric

Same

Snegovski

Yeah, the thing is I'm completely out of touch with real world. And for me all this stuff is just some old stuff from history book. Also when I'm drawing for example dragon I don't think about myself as a dragon. It's just a picture. But from now on I will deff be more careful with my stuff

Tredok

Oh shit, im sorry i hope nothing actually serious happened. Actually didnt know any of this, i guess i do stay away from twitter. Take care i hope this blows over quick

1stRes

Calling someone a n*zi because they drew something goes to show that they are too insecure about themselves and fear they are na*s themselves, fuck them, make a Hitler chan hentai next just to piss them off

Nebulous_backwash_75

I get the reaction to an extent because Elon's made twitter a N*zi safe space but if you had that thought why wouldn't you go through someone's account to see if they've said hateful stuff as a pattern. You didn't say anything hateful and you've never said anything hateful. As a black person with tons of queen friends, you don't check any of the boxes that would give me red flags. So fuck those ppl who harassed you they're just dicks.

Xenote

While I can somewhat understand being "out of touch" with the world enough to make that mistake, I think waiting this long to say anything AND having that statement be behind a paywall just continues to make it look worse. Please do better in the future.

tunaMANN

Someone makeing nazi content is an actually pretty good indicator of being a nazi.

Joe

Oh good lord, people need to get a fucking hobby.

1stRes

So are the people who made the documentary’s about nazis nazis? Are the people who wrote books about nazi germany Nazis? Seems very convoluted, and the term nazi is so over used anymore that calling someone a Nazi just goes to show you are not so much of a good person and probably just dislike their opinion

malstandstall

Drawing a fictional character with a dog whistle is cause for anyone to look at the artist with a critical and worrisome eye. Do not try and straw man people's concerns by bringing up historians covering real tragedies.

1stRes

It’s a fucking dog whistle, you know what I’m being? The smartest guy in the fucking room who understands that not everyone is a fucking nazi, unlike what people like you or other internet retards think, your feelings on this is extremism, it’s the same reason why people thought woman where witches because of small things that mean nothing being blown up to their biggest proportions, “but but it’s indicative of this and that” and 100% of all human beings died after taking a breath of air, doesn’t mean air is toxic now doesn’t it

Snegovski

There will be a public post as well; I’m in the process of writing it. But who cares am I right? Although, most likely, there’s no point in it anyway

Nebulous_backwash_75

I care. Not because i think you are a bad person with disgusting beliefs but I think it'll calm down the people with a sense of rationality and I think it's the right thing to do. The people who harass you can't be reasoned with because that's an unforgivable thing to do to a person. I don't go on Twitter bc that kind of attention scares me for any amount. I hope you'll be okay and take care of yourself though bc you don't deserve to go through this.

etienne

well good on you to retract and edit, it's understandable ppl get touchy about this stuff these days

Xenote

I mean, as someone who obviously enjoys your art, I care. It's far more important to get as ahead as you can than hide away and pretend it never happened. Obviously there are people that don't care but they were never going to because they almost certainly have never interacted with your art before then. Letting the silence speak for you just scares away fans and new supporters alike. I think you should care about that perception if you want real support from people.

The Phantom of the Foxera

Honestly If you didnt know that the double norse S was a n*zi symbol than I think you could just explain it like that Its not super common knowledge and its completely understandable that you didnt know and were just grabbing it from memes

Dylan Bobillen

Regardless, I like the pictures. Very good work as always!

Snegovski

Yeah because all artists are professional PR managers and knows how to handle such stuff. In reallity I am a goblin on medication, and of course stuff like this is scary af, especially when people starting harassing and spamming everywhere telling you that you are garbage human and deserve to die. For sure. Only way I know to get my head straight - is to draw stuff. And that's what I did. Only today did I muster the courage to touch this cursed picture. And if "real support" from people means to be scared of them af all the time especially when you made a dumb mistake once in your life. Then I don't need such "support". Don't subject yourself to moral suffering by "supporting" such a horrible person like me.

Snegovski

Thank you. The problem is that this guys harassing other people and artists :(

Xenote

Nobody is expecting you to be a professional in PR. I'm not saying any of this to be rude or pretend I'm morally superior. I just genuinely want this to go better in the future, because I do think you're a fantastic artist and just made a dumb mistake. Like I said, the people that harassed you are not and were not fans. But it's not like fans can't also be disappointed in how things were handled. I'd like to think you're capable of better.

Lhivxn

Look man, I just appreciate the comment with the repost/correction. If anyone's expecting you to have a "perfect" response then they are an idiot. You acknowledged the issue, you corrected it, just try to be mindful of it in the future and I think that's all anyone can reasonably expect. A lot of people are awful and won't ever accept any answer and I'm sorry those people exist but a lot of people just want to make sure they aren't supporting a nazi and will be satisfied with this.

Snegovski

I understand this completely that's why I did this post and on my Discord server when I finally got my shit together and can articulate again. Two places where people really love what I do, I just feel wrong if I didn't. I hope it would be no next time. I'll never touch anything politicaly related in the future.

LinkKido-Kun

Lets be real for a second, yeah that was a mistake that could have been avoided. But I think the internet is in a state where is just people complaining or harassing. Before als this shit got Mainstream, I would go on the internet, saw some blogs, read some posts here and there and that’s it. I know that even then there were people just being dicks, but it was like a 90/10 ratio, atleast that’s what I felt. Now it feels like a 30/70 ratio. All i see is just complaint, hatred and jealousy. That’s not the internet that’s straight up real life, that’s not the internet I loved when I was younger. For me it’s in a state where I would love to just quit it and never come back to it. Anyway enough of my rant. As others said I think too that you should clarify this mistake on twitter. Not because to justify in front of the people that are idiots, but for the people that don’t know you and see you for the first time. It would be a shame if that would result in people not wanting to get in touch with you. Cheers

MADNESS_NH_97

Please hear me out. First of all, I'm writing this, as a fan of your work, out of a place of true concern, and dissapointment. Not hatred, or wanting to attack you in any way. The last thing I want is to hate artists I like, but that simply depends on their actions and intentions behind those actions, not me wanting be negative towards someone for the fuck of it. While I totally understand that folks truly harassing you, or going so far as to send death threats go complete overboard, please don't make it look like that's all that was going on on platforms like Twitter, and that you're somehow the victim here, alright? Perhaps I'm reading your statement wrong, but those are the vibes I'm getting from it. I've seen plenty of responses on your discor, Twitter and BluSky, and I've seen how you've hidden replies to some of your posts on Twitter, that didn't insult, but instead simply asked you. Asked you for your intentions, and why you reacted the way you did. Yes, idiotic internet trolls sending death threats and shit like that are just complete scumbags that go way to far, and those folks can just go fuck themselves, but that doesn't excuse the fact that you, a artist with 600k+ followers on Twitter, decided to neglect the responsibilty that comes with having such a large following and just decided to upload a artwork, that essentially depicts Miku, saving/helping out Teto depicted as a Nazi. I get it, the design of Teto has a militaric past and all, but out of all the possible designs you could've went with, you decided to go with one of the most evil and vile groups of scumbags in human history, responsible for World War 2 and the Holocaust. People following a ideology, that is on the rise again in plenty of places, with the US at the forefront. Just putting two and two together, should hopefully easily make you realise why people might get the wrong idea, right? I obviously can only speak for myself, but I've seen enough others coming from a similar place as me... Seeing that? Esspecially as someone from Germany, and someone that is deeply concerned with all the political bullshit going on in Germany, the US etc. etc, the idea of one of my favorite artists, somewhat supporting this kind of shit is just deeply dissapointing and hurting to me. The idea that a artists I've been following for years, that I finally decide to financially support as well, being a nazi sympathiser? Yeah, that would just absolutey suck. And I would really like to believe that you aren't sympathising with these scumbags and instead acknowledge how full of shit they are, and that you are supporting those who are getting hurt by these scumbags, and that you simply did this, because you either didn't knew it any better, or this was your idea of some kind of sick joke, like all these pathetic artworks by Khyleri(though I really hope you know better to not go down that route, you're artworks have been perfectly fine thus far, some light edgyness here and there is fine, but that guy has been going overboard over and over again where it simply lacks any potential charme). But the problem is, you went radio silent on this, and even hid away comments by people simply asking you for your intentions, not out of hate, but out of concern. And obviously doing that, provoces people to come to certain conclussions. Reading your statement, I really hope this was just you, not knowing any better, and that in reality you don't support any of this nazi bullshit, and that you'll learn from this mistake. You wrote that there is no point in talking about it anymore? That's not true! There is a point in talking about it! Just be genuine and honest about it! You won't be the public enemy number one forever, if you would simply be genuine and honest about it. Apologize for the mistake you made, tell folks your true intentions behind this artwork, and on top of that, where you stand political. Just be honest about it. If you aren't a "nz enjoyer" like you phrased it, then simply tell people that and make it perfectly clear where you stand. Could there be people not buying it, and still attacking you? Perhaps, but thats just the internet for you, a place full of trolls, but not every critical voice stems from a troll, hell not even every insulting voice stems from such a troll, given all that has been going on in recent time, hell, these last few weeks in the beginning of the year alone, people simply have no tolerance for this sorta shit, they are sick and tired of it, and rightfully so. While death threats and shit like that go way to far, I can't blame folks for being dissapointed, saddened, hurt or pissed off by seeing such a artwork from you, and being even more concerned because of your initial reaction. And for future reference, in case you fear that you all of a sudden need to walk on egg shells, and that you can't draw certain things anymore because of potential shitstorms. The context matters. How you depict these things matter. You simply shouldn't depict a popular vocaloid like Tetu as a nazi, and especially not go so far as to draw a, let's face it, internet icon, like Hatsune Miku helping out a nazi. The thing with drawing such stuff is... You drawing Hatsune Miku saving a nazi, not only gives me the wrong idea that you could support that kinda shit, no it could also give those kinda folks the idea that you may support them, with such a artwork being a wink wink nodge nodge at them. And while having a bunch of followers that support you with money is great, you should ask yourself, should such followers really come from such places? Would you really want your art to be sending a sympathetic message to these scumbags? I mean, you are in control over your community, but given how your discord rules say how hate speech is strictly prohibited, I would say that you don't want to turn your community into a save haven for such people, right? And if you wanna draw something truly funny, that is politically loaded, involving fictional characters, just look up any fictional nazi characters, like let's say The Major from Hellsing or Emmerich Voss from the recent Indiana Jones game, and have a character like Hatsune Miku beat the shit out of them, for example. Hell, if you want to depict real people, draw someone like MHA's Star and Stripe beat the shit out of someone like Hitler, Trump or Musk. There's plenty of room for all sorts of tomfoolery out there.

1stRes

You’re annoyed because I’m right, people take the smallest things that mean nothing on the surface, and they blow it up to the max, you telling me you believe that this guy is a Nazi?? Because that’s what you are implying

Pen Pen Ultra

I was pretty taken aback by the first piece with nazi iconography. I'm glad you changed it, but I also think that you've given ammunition to the right-wing part of your base that feels emboldened by what they could hear as dogwhistling. I understand you aren't some professional PR person, of course mistakes happen. If you really didn't know any better, then just own up to the mistake and move on. Please don't immediately deflect to the fact you have haters. We don't hate you. I've been a fan for years. You have a pretty big following for a nsfw artist, it makes sense that there are some real shitty people out there harassing you; and that's horrible and wrong. But many of us just want to see you keep doing what you're doing and improving. Idk if you'll actually read this, but thanks.

Rob

Many people are wary of nazi symbolism and imagery because there are real nazis out there right now spreading real nazi propaganda by hiding it as just "funny drawings" (like stonetoss for example), as there have been for as long as nazis and other racist groups have existed. But it is especially bad right now because of Elon displaying more behaviour that aligns with nazi dogwhistling and also because, unfortunately, anime for many years has attracted white supremacists who have been appropriating anime and other geek culture as their own. Like K-ON! characters being drawn in nazi uniforms or other military gear associated with racist ideologies or groups that have committed violent acts, or other moe and slice-of-life shows being adopted by fascists (places like 4chan are swarming with literal nazis). I'm sorry you've been faced with so much hate and aggression in response to your drawing, but please keep in mind people have been upset and hurt to see a beloved artist share something that might be a message of support to hateful, dangerous groups that are very real, some of which are out to kill people. People shouldn't have jumped to conclusions and attacked you and I think it's very understandable to not have responded up until now out of fear, but your followers should be able to understand that you made a mistake and didn't mean anything by it. You need to make it clear you weren't trying to support any bigoted ideologies or groups when addressing this publicly however, to let people that care about you and your art know that you've made a bad mistake without any malicious intent, and to also let people who might've felt empowered by a possible ally of their hateful cults, that your community is not a safe space for them and they aren't welcome. I think it's very important to try to convey this in your response to all this. I belive things will turn for the better once you clear this up, and as unfortunate as this whole situation has been I hope you'll grow from it

1stRes

nice way to discrettly through in your political veiw, though its kinda obvious from anyone who calles someone a natzi for such a small sort of immagy, people like you are why woman where burned at the stack for being witches

1stRes

if i draw a nazi, that doesn't make me a nazi, if i draw someone with a dog whistle around their neck as just an additive, that doesn't make me a nazi, shit I didnt even know wearing a fucking dog whistle was corolated at all to nazi germany, honestly, i think everyone is making it up as a way to fear monger, why do you think woman where burned at the stake and assumed they where witches? becuase of small things being used to blow up out of proportion, and let me guess, the nazi propaganda in question is anyone who wants to deport illegal migrant's western minds need to mature, they are growing to be nothing more than witch hunters

ruru

wasn't talking to you and whatever you're complaining about, it doesn't seem to be about what I said in my comment

malstandstall

It's called a dog whistle because only some people will recognize the significance. The SS lightning is one of the most popular alternatives to a swastika and tacking that onto a fictional character for no reason is not normal

MADNESS_NH_97

@1stRes 1. Discretly? Nothing about my comment was discreet. What on earth are you talking about? 2. I'm not calling her a Nazi though, the last thing I want anyone to be is something like a Nazi, but especially given where I'm from, I can't help but react this way, because this kind of stuff is important to me, if you have the luxury of not giving a fuck about all this, congrats, but then simply keep your mouth shut if you can't offer an even remotely useful response. 3. Nazi symbolism, isn't "a small sort of imagery". It's symbolism that was used by one of the most cruel groups of people in human history, and again, if you have the luxury in life to not give a fuck about that shit, congrats, but this shit is ingrained into my home country's history, never to be forgotten about. Hence why I can't just let folks depict that sort of symbolism in a positive way, like showing a popular vocaloid being depicted as a nazi, being saved by a different popular vocaloid, without speaking up about it. Because I'd hate the idea of such characters getting turned into dogwhistles for nazis, and since Sneg decided to delete a bunch of comments and not speak out directly, I couldn't help but be skeptical and wonder, what her reasons behind this stuff was, and with everything going on right now, I couldn't dismiss the potential scenario in which she could've shown her sympathies to them through this artwork. Again, if you wanna live in your little fantasy world where such stuff doesn't play any role to you, congrats! But again, then just shut up if you don't have anything useful to say about this matter. 4. People like me, who simply don't want their favorite artists to be sympathizing with nazis, hence why, simply asked a handful of questions about the reasoning behind her artwork, and explained why the artwork was problematic? Right, I would totally be the one to accuse a woman of being a "witch" and burn her alive... Sure... Whatever makes you sleep at night.

MADNESS_NH_97

@1stRes How about you read what was actually written, instead of only reading what you want to, in order to come up with strawmen to fight against to satisfy your ego? No, no one is a nazi, for merely drawing a nazi. It's the context that matter, and depicting a beloved character as a nazi, and then showing that character depicted as a nazi, being saved by another beloved character, in a war scenario... Dude, stop pretending to be so inept that you can't even remotely understand what is wrong with that. This isn't about an actual "dog whistle", as in the actual whistles used for dogs! Do you not understand how "dog whistles" work? They are whistles, that only dogs can hear. So what would a "dog whistle" be, in the form of symbolism, codes, signals, etc. etc? Something with a specific message behind it, that only a particular group of people can understand! One of the most prominent examples is the numbers 18 & 88. For most of us, completely ordinary numbers without any meaning behind them, but they are being used by Nazis as a code for "Adolf Hitler" and "Heil Hitler". A is the 1st, and H is the 8th letter in the Alphabet. Though the SS symbol Sneg drew on Teto's uniform isn't even a dog whistle, it's a straight-up known symbol of the Nazis, just like the Swastika. So what could be interpreted as a "dog whistle" for people, is the depiction of 1 popular character, like Teto, who was being straight up depicted as a Nazi, with another even more popular and iconic character like Hatsune Miku, helping and saving her in a war scenario, which could be seen as a positive *wink wink nodge nodge* for Nazis. That doesn't mean we are calling Sneg a nazi, or want to burn witches, we point this shit out, because we can see the problematic implications of this artwork, and specifically don't want her to be amongst these scumbags, hence why we explain to her, what the deal is, and ask her, why she decided to draw something like this.

Anna

You really should make this statement publicly as well. People make mistakes. As long as you learn from them people are willing to be forgiving.

Anna

People care dude. People want to know where you really stand so they can continue to support you. This is important to a lot of people.

Oshus

The nazis killed millions of people, trampled the rights of a million more, would have killed a billion given the chance, and now civilized folks find anything associated with their ilk in any way, shape, or form abhorrent. If you follow the same ideologies, and paths, even if you don't draw the same funny lines, you're still the same. Advocating for state sponsored violence against undesirables is really cool and fun! Especially when the law is on your side! Violence is an extremely and effective powerful tool! Just don't forget, once you start violence, you cannot control or direct it.

Oshus

The women burned at the stakes did nothing wrong. The nazis killed millions of people. You must really despise women if you don't see a difference between existing as a women and mass murder + genocide. Hope that clears a couple things up!

Oshus

Hi madness. I thoroughly enjoyed your thread, and read all of it. It was extremely well constructed, and I will be using parts of it in my own arguments. That being said, you think the guy who can't spell at least half of the words right in his incoherent sentence is going to read a college level wall of text? He didn't read anything you said in the original, he just saw you were vaguely opposite to him and vomited out whatever that was above. If you want your message to get across in a meaningful way, take a page from the people actually getting elected and getting in power. No need to over-intellectualize basic empathy every single animal in the mammalian class feels and intimately understands. A few words can have 100x the impact of ten thousand. As you say, knowing your audience is quite important.

Oshus

It doesn't matter? It does matter. It sounds like you're apologizing because you're scared of the consequences, and you feel the consequences will hit you anyways. In that sense you are completely correct; an apology coming from that place is completely meaningless and hollow. I support you with my wallet, why shouldn't I just go to AI if we're doing meaningless and hollow money-grubbing? You fucked up. The consequences are here. All you can do is say your sorry and do better next time. You don't get to go back in time. Take your second chance with grace, as it is being given with much.

Kastor

huh i wonder why this guy started talking about illegal migrants unprompted while defending nazi artwork, boggles the mind what kind of person they could be

Jorge

Good Decision! Keep making great art!

Devon Rubin Art

i just joined your patreon to find some kind of clarification on what happened. as a jewish artist, it does really mean something to me that you took the time to change the art and to learn something. you have an enormous following, so while you should not have received the kinds of messages you did, being able to differentiate between someone telling you to "kys" and someone asking "do you support nazi ideology?" is an important distinction. if you aren't a white supremacist, it's very easy to tell people you aren't. right wing ideology and white supremacy is on the rise across the entire world right now, it makes sense why people would be extremely cautious and question someone treating the SS symbol so casually. i hope this doesn't happen to you again in the future, it is a good idea to be careful and do your research when including direct political messages in your work. nazi memes are part of the pipeline! edit: i want to also add that because it's taken you so long to respond publicly, you will not gain back all the trust you had (or at least neutrality) and that is the consequence of thoughtlessness.

WallMount33

if you don't like their art, you know where the unsubscribe button is. Funny how people are on the side of the artist creating what they want as long as it agrees with you but they get crucified if they create something you do not agree with. If ya'll misinterpret what the artist creates and associate jump to conclusions then that is on ya'll. Ya'll getting triggered by what the artist creates is absolutely not a reason for them to receive death threats and be forced to take time away just to recover. "That is the consequence of thoughtlessness" lol bro get out of here smh. The artist fixed what ya'll wanted them to and was basically forced to apologize for something that was misinterpreted as nazi themed art. There was no need to add salt to the wound to make yourself feel morally superior.
