The Shadow

Mundus’s manipulation of Vergil in the Devil May Cry anime and broader lore revolves around weaponizing his trauma, convincing him that emotion is weakness and that Sparda abandoned Eva out of indifference so Vergil would obsess over absolute power and remain dependent on no one. At the same time, Mundus hides his own role in Eva’s death by framing other demons and discrediting Sparda, both to keep Vergil loyal and to weaken Dante’s faith in his father’s legacy, since Dante’s strength comes directly from his humanity and belief in Sparda’s sacrifice. However, the idea that Sparda never cared for his family is completely contradicted by the series’ lore: before his disappearance, Sparda intentionally split his immense demonic power into the Rebellion, Yamato, and the Perfect Amulet, willingly weakening himself so his sons would have the means to survive and defend themselves against the underworld. Rather than hoarding his power for self-preservation, Sparda sacrificed it to give his human family a fighting chance, proving his actions were driven by love and protection, not apathy.

Another point to add, in Season 1 Eva was telling kid Dante that their father was a brave warrior who fights to protect them all to this day and im sorry but I just simply believe Eva over the proven liar and manipulator Mundus. I feel like season 3 will have more Sparda information that's gonna clear up Mundus's lies, similarly to how in season 1 we thought vergil was just with mundus but then we find out the depths of the lies and manipulations in season 2

I think the part of Sparda that Mundus was revealing in the backstory is that he didnt care about humanity. Up until that point the story of sparda legend was that he was a champion of the humans and saved us from Mundus and chose us over Makai when in reality he was just trying to save Mundus from his own ambition that he knew would eventually consume him. Humanity just happened to benefit from that. Sparda never stopped being loyal to Mundus like the story says he turned against his own people.

If this is anything like the games, I can’t wait for lady go to hell arc with what she got in the briefcase.

Vergil and Dante's fight reminded me of Kakashi vs Obito.

What i really like is that the moment when Dante throws the sheath back at Vergil is taken 1 for 1 from DMC 5, as well as that "would your life be mine" Speech Vergil does
