Some clarifications based on what has already been mentioned in the episodes so far: - In the previous episode, Lord Li (the grandson of Grand Tutor Li) asked his right hand man to have his people watch Changyu, as well as the death warriors. Meaning monitor the death warriors. They're not his death warriors. They are Chancellor Wei's assassins. - There are 4 levels of death warriors. The ones sent to kill the Fan sisters were not the highest level, that's why Xie Zheng and Mr. Sun came to the conclusion that they were not after Xie Zheng because Wei would have sent the highest level of death warriors to kill him. Remember when Xie Zheng was telling Mr. Sun about how he ended up in Linan? They showed a different group of death warriors wearing white. Those were the most elite of Wei's death warriors. The ones sent to kill the Fan sisters were wearing black. - The master that trained Xie Zheng and Lord Li when they were younger was General He, not Changyu's father. - There is no Commander Li. Lord Li, the grandson, is a Commandant. So you must have gotten it mixed up. The leader of the Li clan is Grand Tutor Li. General He was the one spitting bars about a united Dayin. General He belongs to the Wei faction. That's why the magistrate and his right hand man were speculating why Grand Tutor Li would send his grandson, a Li, to train under General He, a Wei. - Xie Zheng is the leader of the Xie clan which he inherited when his father, General Xie Linshan, died 16 years ago. - Chancellor Wei Yan was the brother of Xie Zheng's mother, which makes him his uncle from his mother's side.

About the memorial tablet incident, I think 'worship' may not have been the best translation . It is not worshipping like a god or in religion but rather she had a memorial tablet for the marquis of wu'an and with the intent to honor his memory. Typically, memorial tablets were set up for you ancestors, spouse, or someone very close to you. If the person who passed committed a great sin, having a memorial tablet set up would be a punishable offense (including death depending on the severity of their charge, like treason).

Quick recap, no spoilers. Lord Li is not with the death warriors and he didn't send them. He told his guard to watch for both activities regarding Fan household and the death warriors movements. That's why he was able to intercept and help her. Lord Li was sent to the village per General He's orders to look for Xie Zhang in the episode where he offered Changyu a ride home.

The comments already helped out with the li stuff, just wanted to point out that your wife was correct about the tablet. It was originally for yan zheng then changyu tweaked the same tablet and used it for xie zheng. Fl really is amazing and the actress is phenomenal. She recently not only got nominated but also won an award at a Korean award show which is insane given she’s a Chinese actress. She did so well with this role

Lord Li's right hand man in this looks a lot like Chancellor's Wei's right hand man. It took me a while to be able to tell them apart. So I can see some of the confusion.
