Hey guys!

Yesterday (Monday) we had a national holiday, so I rested a bit. I spent some time with my family. We went to the mountains to hike. I recharged.

So, I learned from the negative things. I insured myself. That is, my data. I promised I would deal with that more. So I do it now.

This includes subscribing to Google Drive. Thus, the MEGA archive will also be mirrored. The data upload now. A couple of hours and done. I will post / send you the links tomorrow.

The goal was to have all my files in at least two places. That’s why I bought one NAS (Netgear ReadyNAS422) and two hdds (2xWD Red Pro 12TB). I now have 12 TB of space in Raid 1 right now. Continuous backup. And I subscribed to the Blackblaze cloud backup service. The backup is continuous here too. It took a few days for me to upload all the data.I further enhanced data security with a Bitdefender Premium Security subscription and VPN. The latter is part of the package. To protect the hardware as well, I bought a program called HDD Sentinel. This proved very useful for the second hdd error. Because I could still save my data.I bought two uninterruptible power supplies. An APC 1500VA and a Legrand 600VA. The larger one serves the machine and the monitor, while the smaller one powers the router and NAS in the hallway.

All backups are automated so I have nothing to do with it now. Thanks for a lot of help with installation and tips on buying.

Data loss is a very bad thing. I hope I won't be a part of it from now on.

Heya Boss. A lot of your product choices are consumer grade gear, I'd becareful. They're not as secure. Even Discontinued or EOL products that are enterprise or commercial will offer more security while potentially giving you a lot more for your money. For Example, I use a RV345p Dual WAN router with 2x1GB Fiber lines connected to a 24 port Aruba router connected with LAG (link aggregation) that takes 2x1GB ethernet connections and creates a 2GB connection between the router and switch. I also use the POE switch to power 4 x Aruba IAP-205 Access points giving me a full wireless mesh network through out my property. This entire setup is EOL and handles 140+ smart devices while allowing my family and I all to have dedicated bandwidth for gaming and movies without impact each other. Just remember newer isn't always better. a 7.2K SATA 6xTB drive is still a SATA drive.. Still less reliable than SAS.. and when it comes to hard drives and storage, I wouldn't bank it all on 2x SATA drives in a RAID 1.. You'd be better off with an older server across a RAID 6.. Probably cost you less in the long run and be much more stable.. Some older LFF servers can have 4, 8, or even 12 LFF bays. and some older servers can be picked up new, unused or old inventory never sold for just a few hundred bucks.

I'd consider zipping everything stored on google drive. It's more secure and that way you don't have nosy google employees looking for stuff to dump an account. As a subscriber to google drive it's less likely but still zipping before uploading doesn't hurt.

You may be right, but I update the archive every few days. New files are added. Compressed, it seems quite cumbersome. :(

where is the march Mega?

Write me a DM. And I'll send it to you. I'm sorry, but that's how it goes now.

Can I get a link too? I haven't switched to subscribe star yet. Also my dumb discord won't take my password. I still haven't reset it yet.
