As we move into 2025, I'm doing my yearly "reflections" where I seek to understand the feelings of my patrons and consider what directions to move towards in the following year.

I noticed there's a bunch of you Free Members around, even though there are never any free rewards. So I have to ask: Why exactly are you here?

What is it you expect or hope to receive by being a Free Member to my Patreon? I never quite know what kind of value I can provide you with and I'm not allowed to share any NSFW art with Free Members either.

So just looking to better understand you as patrons.

I became a free member just to remember you, so that if I become interested enough I’ll become a paid member

James Sepia

I am still a free member because I have some financial issues for the time being, and I had already lost your account once before the free member thing was a thing, I will plan on becoming a paid member when I get through my hard times

Mondor

patreon offers to let you follow someone after you end your subscription with them, i ended my subscription here clicked the follow button out of habit, then subscribed to you on subscribestar at some point.

Andy Mayer

Because I've been following your art for years.

FlareVortex

I'm honestly here as a reminder to HOPEFULLY sub to you proper in the future, tho any other free member updates or post is honestly a blessing I say. Paid members get the content I say but IMO free members are here chillin to support ya regardless <3

Spolin

It was originally just a "follow" then they changed the name, followed to keep tabs in case I become able to sub to more people at once

Lukundra

What everyone else said. Plan on subbing eventually, just following until I get all my ducks in a row

Bram De Keukeleire

Yeah, same as the others, I'll eventually get round to subbing to your patreon

Trevor Burn

As others mentioned, here for when I can afford to pay for a proper sub. Plus it provides another location to follow you on in case you leave some other website I follow you on.

SaurianCrash

as most has said, it's a way to keep track. I follow or have done paid for some people over the years, but I can't do it anymore, maybe someday once in a while.

z

Mostly keeping track, and hoping that sometime soon I CAN actually afford to subscribe.

Mae

Echoing many here, it’s a way to keep a bookmark that’s (hopefully) not gonna disappear, and a reminder to sub when the monthly expenses are lower

Bronco

To keep you up at night asking questions like this. (Been subbed elsewhere and forgot about this place)

John Harris

I signed up here a while ago but never visit it. The only reason I'm here now is Patreon sent me an email telling me there was a new post. I might consider subscribing some day but I have to watch my money outlays carefully.

Mason Dunne

I think I’ve followed you everywhere I can and just subbed here so as a bookmark tab. If I ever add you to my subscription at least I have you for a head start without having to look.

mutatiio

To keep track so I can resub later if cash allows

Fred A Levy Haskell

Well, some years ago when I my cashflow allowed me some disposable income, I Patreionized a number of artists—cartoonists—whose work I thought highly of. I felt it worth helping to support them, at least to the meager extent that I could. Then my cash crash hit, so I dropped my payments—but not my following. I believe I probably added you after that, for the same reason I haven't simply quit following the others—to keep track of y'all in case my ship ever comes in and I can once again afford to help you wonderfully creative people by a new pen every now and again.

Eggsburst

I like your work, I've hought your digital artbooks, and basically just want to see that you're still around. When I have some money, I'll support
