I’m also trying to get into tori at the moment but her labyrinthine discography is very intimidating, however I totally appreciate her artistry, especially as a pianist cause I’ve tried learning some of her songs and they are so technically difficult. Anyway bit of a ramble but my tori era is certainly on the horizon

A decade or so ago one of my besties and roommate at the time asked me to torrent Tori’s first four albums off whatcd (he didn’t have the ratio to do it himself *recordscratch*) I listened to them all but pele is the only one that stuck and it stuck hard. The mention of drive all night on the free ep this week sent me down the wormhole and has already changed my life. Didn’t question why Tori was a recurring topic on KNFW but I loved listening to this ep and getting the backstory on why PEEL! was added to the soundboard. I’ve only listened to 4 DAR episodes so far but already I can liken the podcast to a submarine piloted by James Cameron (the hosts, in this metaphor) explaining the way of water and illuminating the titanic treasures to be found in the depths of the sea of Amos. I will be subbing to their Patreon (and YANTA’s too 🎶) and as a KNEW KNFW subber I’m looking forward to coming across the theda blow jobin tori ep mentioned above. OK I went back to Caught a lite sneeze and I'm officially team STFU because semiotics. A literary text is a natural generator of interpretations (and almost a being with a life of its own), and we don't have to disassemble a fragile mechanism like that. We'll just be left with a bunch of parts while the magic has always been in the tension among their relationships & meanings. This allows poetry to have this level of informational density which calls for multiple interpretations (my masters was in computational literary studies........ it's the first time I can apply it to participate in an online argument 😑)

I got into Tori right when Scarlets Walk came out and I have loved her ever since! I also really love Ani DiFranco and reading both of their memoirs it seems like they’re not big fans of each other which is kind of a bummer.
