“Seek and Squeaks”

SCP 8364

Object Class - S̶a̶f̶e̶ Euclid

Special containment procedures:-

Instances of SCP 8364 are to be kept within rooms large enough to contain one or more instances of SCP 8364 with respect to each instance’s circumference. There must be at minimum one meter of space between the walls of the containment room and any SCP 8364 to allow for careful navigation around the space to prevent direct contact with instances of SCP 8364. Absolutely no other balloons are to interact with SCP 8364 to avoid any repeats of Incident 8362-1. [see Addendum-01 - 8364]

Should additional SCP 8364 instances be found, MTF ‘Party Poopers’ are to be deployed for safe containment and retrieval, with class B amnesties administered to civilians and a suitable cover-up deployed, depending on circumstance.

Description:-

SCP 8364 are multiple helium party balloons of varying sizes and colors. They appear to be composed of what appears to be opaque rubber latex, similar to a standard party balloon. There has been no successful attempt to analyze the material due to SCP 8364’s anomalous properties. The base of SCP 8364 is tied with a knot, and has a 1mm thick string tied around it, usually being a length between 6cm and 20cm, correlating to the size of SCP 8364.

The largest instance of SCP 8364 within foundation containment is recorded to be approximately 11ft in diameter, after Incident 8364-1[see Addendum-01 - 8364].

SCP 8364 instances display the anomalous property of maintaining a one-way pocket dimension. Subjects that touch the rubber skin of an SCP 8364 instance will find themselves pulled into this pocket dimension, the pulling force multiplying almost to an infinite point if the subject is restricted from being pulled in until the subject is forcibly ripped into the instance, which may result in harm to the subject. During this process, the rubber will pucker and collapse around a subject sucking them in like a pair of lips. It looks as if the latex rolls itself around the subject in order to pull them, and continues to do so until the subject is completely enveloped, in which the puckered orifice seals itself shut. Size doesn't seem to make a difference to SCP 8364, as the orifice will stretch and expand to accommodate whoever is being pulled inside.

In the transfer zone between the external and pocket dimension, subjects have reported a sinking squishing sensation, like falling through two layers of rubberized quicksand, before the subject reaches the pocket dimension.

During this transfer period, any objects that are considered sharp or dangerous are ejected from SCP 8364. It is unknown how SCP 8364 is able to determine an object’s sharpness, and has been able to filter out blades, weapons, and on one occasion, metallic tooth fillings. Only clothes enter with the subject during the transfer process. It is believed that SCP 8364 instances may be more sentient than they appear to be.

That being said, SCP 8364 does not appear to be triggered by inorganic objects, even when poked or prodded by metal rods or even rifles. Even animals don't seem to trigger the anomaly, as it will only accept humans into its pocket dimension

The pocket dimension has been described as resembling a bounce house, containing a seemingly endless expanse of rooms and corridors layered with air-filled inflatable flooring and walls with heavily saturated coloration. These rooms then give way to a single large slide, which leads down to one very large chamber, which is reported to have a number of inflatable objects, alongside what has been described as a “fort” composed of the same material as the rest of SCP 8364’s interior space.

The composition of the floor makes traversal tricky within SCP 8364’s pocket dimension.

It is believed all instances share the same pocket dimension, but it has not been proven.

Within the labyrinth of SCP 8364-1 is what is speculated to be large canine-shaped inflatable organism, resembling a cartoon wolf designated SCP 8364-2. Not much is known about SCP 8364-2 due to limited encounters. It appears to be visibly hostile, and will █████ subjects found within the pocket dimension.

It is unknown what SCP 8364-2 does to subjects, as no witnesses have been able to successfully describe what happens before loss of contact, but all measured vitals remain active and healthy, despite the length of time within SCP 8364 being far beyond survivable without supplied water or food.

SCP 8364 was first discovered on █████ when an emergency was reported at a college pizza party where students were supposedly being “eaten by balloons.” Foundation agents were sent to investigate the scene while rounding up all the party-goers for interview. Everyone who witnessed the incident claimed people were getting “sucked into” the party balloons, and anyone who attempted to aid the victims was consumed as well. Once foundation agents had identified the instances of SCP 8364, the agents were in the process of containing the anomalies when Agent C unintentionally made physical contact with one of the instances of SCP 8364 and was quickly absorbed into the instance, leaving behind his equipment. Agents outside of SCP 8364 identified all removed objects belonging to Agent C on the floor below the instance, including metal tooth implants that Agent C possessed at the time.

None of the party-goers knew where the balloons came from, as the organizer of the event was one of the first to get consumed. Witnesses were given amnestics before being sent to the nearest hospital, under the cover story of a gas leak. After sweeping the pizza parlor, agents found an empty box labeled: Miss Holly's Party Emporium Playhouse. The box had an illustration of an extravagant bounce house on the cover, with what appears to be a wolf floaty peeking out in the background. Though this is not the first time an SCP has been found associated with Miss Holly's Party Emporium, nothing advertised on the box could be found within the perimeter. However, it was more than likely that these balloons were yet another product of Miss Holly's various anomalous goods. All known instances of SCP 8364 were extracted from the site via a large vacuum and stored large airtight tank for transport.

Upon containment, the SCP instance that had engulfed Agenct was analyzed using X-rays and heat scanners. Though no thorough analysis of SCP 8364 could be made without physical contact, the making up the instance seems to have no anomalous properties, despite being much more durable than a normal balloon given that it could envelop an entire human.

A D class on death row was put into the chamber and instructed to touch one of the instances of SCP 8364, monitored by cameras and different types of sensors to observe the process. The D class was audibly distressed once the balloon began to suck in his hand but as described by both field agents and the party-goers at the incident, the balloon effortlessly sucked in the D class as if he was a noodle. During this process, SCP 8364 was able to stretch and squeeze itself over the D class despite being considerably smaller in size, looking somewhat comical like something out of a Looneytoones short, albeit more disturbing. Strangely, no digestive activity could be detected within SCP 8364 and according to his heat signatures, it seems as if the d-class simply disappeared as he was pulled into the latex. Upon further analysis, there seems to be a strange gravitational anomaly within SCP 8364, similar to that of a wormhole detected in other SCPs in the containment. It was at this time that it was speculated that the balloons did not eat their subjects, but merely transported them somewhere else.

Expedition 8364–01: An expedition was approved by the 05 Council requested by Dr Helios, where a D class designated D-6033 was sent into a chamber containing an isolated pink instance of SCP 8364 about 3 ft in diameter. Equipped with a belt connected to a metal cable about 75 ft long, the purpose of the expedition was to see if one could be extracted from the SCP 8364 after being absorbed. D-6033 was instructed to approach the SCP 8364 instance, in which they were quickly engulfed inside. However, the metal cable was ejected the instant D-6033 was fully enveloped, followed by the belt which hadn't even been unbuckled. It seems all material items that don't traditionally count as basic clothing are expelled from SCP-8364, or for whatever reason things like equipment and accessories are simply not accepted by the entity. Furthermore, It appears that

Expedition 8364–02: A D class designated D-6904 was injected with a bug to keep track of their vitals and outfitted with a small communication device into the tip of their thumb. After being sent into the same pink instance of SCP 8364 as the first d-class, both their tracker and walkie-talkie remained active, the signal now coming from inside the instance of SCP 8364. After 26 seconds, communication was reestablished with D-6904, expressing some slight discomfort from what they described as a brief period of intense squeezing after entering SCP 8364. When asked to describe their surroundings, D-6904 reported that they were in what appeared to be a large bounce house with multiple contrasting colors of bright blues and pink. Rounded ballooning pipes lined the corners in crevices of the structure, with rows of inflatable cushions covering both the floor and walls. The ceiling however seemed to be covered in and multitude of small bulbs, as if lined with bubble wrap. But instead of vinyl, the d-class claimed that everything was made of soft latex, similar in texture to SCP 8364, evident by the large amount of squeaking rubber audible over the speaker. Strangely, D-6904’s description of the area was similar to the illustration on the empty Miss Holly box found with SCP-8364. Stranger still, despite the lack of any light source, the room Was decently lit, almost like an office building. D-6904 was ordered to explore the area further, finding that the room seemed to branch off into other rooms via the occasional hallway. At first, D-6904 expressed frustration with their surroundings after slipping and losing their balance multiple times, with the padded rubber floor being so squishy. But even after several minutes of exploring the maze-like structure, no trace of the previous d-classes were found. D-6904 even tried calling out through the hallways but was met with no response. Eventually, D-6904 came across a large circular orifice at the end of one of the hallways piped with dark green rubber. Upon closer inspection, the D-class described it as a large inflatable slide, though it was too dark to see where it led. Before Dr. Helios could provide instruction, D-6904 could be heard letting out a startled yelp followed by the squeaky echo of sliding latex. It sounded as if they had tripped down the slide. A full 15 seconds later D-6904 made it out of the slide, claiming something had pushed them from behind, as they clumsily scrambled to their feet in a panic.

After Dr. Helios managed to calm down the D class, they claimed that they were in a completely new room, one as big as an auditorium. The walls were now lined with green and yellow rubber, and it seemed to resemble an indoor playground or theme park. There were multiple ball pits, forts made of inflatable rubber, slides, what looked like obstacle courses, and even other bounce houses ironically enough. It looked almost like an extravagant mini golf course. Their description was a near-perfect match to the illustration on the box the balloons were found with, giving Dr. Helios the confirmation he needed to conclude that the balloons were indeed a product of Miss Holly's Party empodium. D-6904 expressed a feeling of nostalgia, saying that they would've loved this as a child. While proceeding with the search, occasionally heard indulging in some of the inflatable attractions D-6904 seemed to grow increasingly agitated, saying that it felt like they were being watched. At one point, they insisted that they saw someone… or something peeking out from one of the inflatable forts. Despite being instructed to proceed with caution the panicked D-6904 could be heard running, saying that they were going to look for an exit. But soon after, their squeaking footsteps went silent, their heart rate increasing over the monitor as their breath grew heavier. Dr. Helios asked the D-class if everything was okay. “Th- There’s….” was all the D-class could utter, their voice audibly shaken.

What followed was the sound of heavy squeaking footsteps rapidly approaching D-6904, whose terrified scream was quickly cut off and muffled by the deafening sound of creaking rubber. When Dr Helios asked what was happening, D-6904 could only respond with what sounded like a muffled cry for help, barely audible over the loud reverberating latex. From what Dr Helios heard, it almost sounded like the D-class was wrestling with a balloon. D-6904’s muffled moans and the sound of creaking latex lasted for another 15 minutes before communication was lost. However, the bug implanted in D-6904 was still active, showing their vitals were perfectly stable, and soon even their heart rate seemed to normalize.

After the expedition, Dr. Helios believes that the other victims of SCP 8364 may still be alive, trapped somewhere within its endless maze of inflatables. However, a retrieval operation has not yet been approved, seeing as there's no possible way to extract them from SCP 8364. Dr Helios also believes that the strange entity that attacked D-6904 was likely the inflatable canine Illustrated on the empty box, which will now be designated as SCP 8364-2. And considering the possibility that something may have pushed the d-class down the slide earlier, it’s likely that more than one instance of SCP-8364-2 roaming the halls of the anomalous bounce house.

Expedition 8364–03: Another D-class, D-3864 was sent into SCP-8364, equipped with the same implants as D-6940 but with the addition of a sort of micro camera essentially tattooed into the forehead of the subject. This particular expedition was requested by Dr Helios in hopes of gathering visual data on the strange inflatable pocket dimension. After being squeezed and enveloped into the pink distance of SCP-8364, contact was initially lost with the D class for 20 seconds before re-establishing her signal. Even though her radio came in clear, the camera footage was shoddy at best, looking like something out of an '80s home video camera. This time the room was different from the one D-6940 had entered, with the same general architecture but with patterns of blue and redrubber. And this time, the structure was similar to a play fort, the stairs ramps and slides leading up to inflatable platforms bunkers, and towers. It was like a playground in a water park. Dr Helios noted that even he couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia as the choppy footage came through. D-3864 was instructed the explorer further, scoping out the grounds and climbing up to the forts to her heart's content. At first, it seemed that D-3864 found herself enjoying her task surveying the area, exploring the forts and even crawling through the inflatable interconnected tunnels. After a few minutes, she started to become uneasy, much like the previous subject. She expressed discomfort being alone in this playground, feeling as if something would jump out at her at any moment. It didn't help that the only thing she could hear was the squeaking rubber beneath her feet. Dr Helios then suggested that D-3864 find a way out of the fort room and see what other areas she could find. After taking a slide back down to the floor, she was about to be on her way before letting out a sudden gasp. Through the camera feed, right as the signal began to stutter, the footage froze a particularly disturbing frame, as Dr Helios caught a glimpse of what appeared to be the head of a large canine peaking over one the walls of a nearby fort. Its skin appeared shiny and reflective, and the eyes were hauntingly wide and cartoonish, identical to the inflatable dog on the box. By the time the footage resumed, SCP-8364-2 was no longer in sight, and D-3864 was in hysterics, swearing that something had been peeking at her. Dr Helios instructed the D class to vacate the area and find an exit to which they gladly obliged. But right as she began clumsily jogging along the inflatable floor, a second pair of squeaky footsteps could be heard approaching D-3864. Before visual contact was lost, what looked to be two inflatable arms with large rounded paws could be seen wrapping over D-3864, followed by the sound of her muffled screams and a cacophony of loud squeaks. The sound resumed for another 30 seconds before radio contact was also lost. From what Dr Helios could see, it appeared that the entity had grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth with its paw. It is unknown if SCP-8364-2 was trying to keep her quiet or attempting to smother her, but given that her vitals are still transmitting and stable, it's at least safe to assume that it wasn't trying to kill her.

But one thing we know for sure, the entity known as SCP-8364-2 is without a doubt the same inflatable character seen on the box.

Further expeditions have been postponed indefinitely. To this day D-6904 and D-3864’s vitals are still monitored and remain stable, but their status and whereabouts within the space are still unknown.

Addendum-01 - 8364:-

An instance of SCP 8364 was subject to rapid expansion due to Dr. Toast’s experimentation of applying a large, non-anomalous balloon to the surface of SCP 8364. The instance, previously at 4ft in diameter, had then proceeded to expand rapidly, leading to the loss of several personnel who were unable to evacuate in time. This instance of SCP 8364 did stop its growth at 11ft in diameter, which at the time was the size of the testing chamber it was contained in at that time.

Due to Incident 8364-1, no helium balloons are to be applied to the surface of any SCP 8364 instance and any experiments must be approved by at least two Level 4 Lead Researcher or one 05 council member. - 05 - 4.

Addendum-02 - 8364: Following incident 8364-1, attempts to deflate the balloon had been put into motion. With the use of an extendable claw was used to roll the balloon until the knot was accessible to the entrance of the chamber. With the use of specialized utensils, a D class was tasked with undoing the knot of the balloon, being extra careful not to touch its surface after being told that he would be sucked into an infinite pocket dimension. It was believed that deflating it would allow the foundation to study it without risk of triggering its anomalous properties. After over 40 minutes of frustratingly fumbling with his tools, the D class managed to successfully undo the knot. But after removing the string, the neck of the balloon remained sealed, likely due to the rubber adhering to itself over time. The d-class then began to pry the neck of the balloon open with his tools, when it suddenly stretched wide open and clasped around his head. The D class’s terrified expression could be seen through the skin-tight rubber as he let out a muffled scream, and staff could only watch as the D-class was quickly sucked into the elastic mouth of SCP-8364. The neck stretched effortlessly to accommodate his form, wrapping over him like an Anaconda before pulling him in all the way into its spherical body. The balloon jiggled gracefully as the d-class disappeared, the SCP tying its neck back into a knot as it returned to its docile state. Upon further examination, it appears that this instance of SCP-8364 had not reduced in size, even in the brief time that it’s neck was left wide open. This confirms that the balloons indeed have a form of sentience, but only those who initiate physical, or tamper with it.

Further testing on SCP-8364 has been postponed indefinitely to avoid any further losses. in the meantime, the vitals of the two D classes who were sent into the entity continue to be monitored.
