Lily strapped herself into the control seat, stabilizing her approach on the system as she prepared her vessel to come out from hyperspace. The alarms suddenly went off, her heart dropping down to her stomach as the ship shook violently around her. The hull plating could be heard groaning like a wounded animal, the engines sounded like they were about to combust, one little thing could bring the ship apart and it would all be over in an instant. Though Lily knew the risk of attempting hyperspace through an uncharted System was dangerous, she didn’t know it would be so frightening, with the threat of imminent death looming above her with every passing moment.

But then, with a loud thundering roar, the ship slipped out of hyperspace, the alarms finally shutting off as a ship went quiet around her. Lily‘s eyes were closed shut, breathing heavily and she took a few moments to gather herself. The young woman felt as if she was about to cry, as she hadn’t experienced anything so terrifying in her life, even the quakes she had experienced while stationed on mercury were nothing in comparison. While she had trained for some of the most dangerous experiences space had to offer, she could never be prepared for something as existential as dying in hyperspace, where she and her ship would’ve been reduced to atoms without a trace. Pulling herself together, Lily opened her eyes to see I gargantuan gas giant only a few light years away. It’s atmosphere was a mess of red and pink clouds, breathtaking but chaotic at the same time, yet another wonder of the galaxy that she had had the pleasure to see.

The sight of the strange planet calmed her, taking in a deep breath as she punched in the coordinates she had received from her source. The ship was set to sublight speed and began its approach towards a small speck on her radar. Getting up from her seat, she got undressed from her pilot’s uniform and slipped into her space ops jumpsuit. Pretty much skintight, her suit sported a black and blue color scheme, The blue fabric printed over the top of her sleeves as well as a triangle pattern over her chest. The jumpsuit was made of a stretchy kinetic absorbent jelly polymer, but it felt almost like neoprene against her skin, offering her protection while allowing unhindered movement. After securing the suit’s collar around her neck, she armed herself with a stun sidearm. Returning back to the bridge, she went back into her seat and turned her attention back to the monitors, where her destination finally came into view.

A small but fancy-looking space station was in far orbit of the planet in question, a safe distance from its gravity but with engines and afterburners built into the structure to keep it from decaying orbit. Though the space station was detectable, she could barely get a reading on it, as her scanners couldn’t seem to penetrate its outer hull. It was clearly utilizing some advanced tech, cloaking its contents from her scanners, she couldn’t even tell if there were any life forms aboard. While her ship continued to approach, she took out the file on her target, Dr. Mailane Mou. Wanted for espionage, theft of nanotech and memory polymer, kidnapping, and a laundry list of kinky crimes involving her strange but effective traps and weaponry. Lily had never met the woman face-to-face, nor has she ever seen any of her work firsthand, but after weeks on the case, she knew what she was getting into.

Taking a deep breath, she looked over at the space station as her ship slowed its approach, closing the file with a determined look on her face. “All right, here goes nothing.” she said with a bit of nervousness in her voice. Setting her ship on autopilot, she made her way to the airlock as her vessel slowly re-orientated itself to dock with the space station. Entering the airlock, the young woman tapped a button on her collar, and a transparent shiny film began to encapsulate her head. It looked like some kind of gelatinous membrane, forming into a bubble-like helmet as it jiggled around her head like jelly. Making sure it was secure, she pinched the membrane between her fingers, only to slip off of her gloves. Lily then tried bobbing her fist against it, only bouncing her blows back like inflated rubber, her suit was fully functional and ready.

The airlock then let out a low beep like a subway train arriving at its destination, closing the door behind her as a green LED lit up under the door in front of her. “DOCKING COMPLETE, READY FOR ENTRY.” A robotic voice said. Taking out her sidearm, the young woman grabbed a lever on the door and pulled it, allowing her to enter the space station as the door retracted into the ceiling. Lily was first greeted with a long hallway, with the red plating on the floor painted red as a row of lights lit up from the ceiling. The corridor was narrow, pretty claustrophobic even compared to earlier space stations. It obviously wasn’t made for more than one person to enter at a time, but it also seemed pretty ominous. As she began making her way through the hall, she heard a loud metallic clank from both ahead and behind her making, her jumping in her chest as she quickly held up her gun. Lily quickly looked behind her but so nothing, but when she turned her head back forward, she saw several pink bubbles floating from tiny slots that had opened up in the walls.
