Honestly wouldn't matter. But after. It takes place like 300 years after this anyway in real world history that it is based off of and would have little connection to this. But the actor who plays Toranaga is in it. Cinematography and score are top notch too. But I would suggest after the show just cause. Just Keep it in the radar

I also second “the Last Samurai” it’s got kind of the same feel as this. Instead of a British guy it’s an American war “hero” who goes willing and gets caught up in the political unraveling going on between the new and the old ways of Japan. It’s a pretty incredible movie I think a 7.8/10 on IMDb and was nominated for 4 Oscar’s. Definitely worth watching either on here or on your own.

I could watch a whole episode of Fuji, Mariko , and John sitting around eating and talking! Loved that scene. John and Mariko’s relationship is fun to watch grow. And yeah everybody be schemin out here
