okay you silly hoes, it's a pretty close tie between John Wick and Into The Spiderverse so you HAVE TO VOTE AGAIN.

Some people did bring up the fair question of whether or not I have seen any of the older Spider Man movies and the answer is no. I haven't seen any of the Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire movies. We can definitely watch those one day. Anywho, just an fyi in case that changes what you end up voting for/

now vote and don't let it be a tie or I WILL SCREAM.

Erik Davison

I voted John wick just because I don’t want you to watch into the spider verse until you’ve watched the older Spider-Man movies lol

helpful convictions

I would suggest watching Spider-Man series before spiderverse since the spiderverse is all encompassing. Though I picked John wick this time. 😁

Geoman

Baba Yaga all the way...a fantastic franchise with Ana De Armas taking on the hitman/hit woman??role..if you don't fight for love 💕 what kind of love do you have...to quote Keanu.😁

Into the spider-verse is its own separate thing. Has absolutely nothing to do (continuity-wise) with the Andrew McGuire and Andrew Garfield movies. You can watch those and enjoy them later.

People saying you have to watch the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies before the Spider-Verse films are missing the point. If that logic were true, you’d also have to plow through Raimi’s trilogy, the Garfield duology, Tom Holland’s MCU movies, Venom, decades of comics (Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man 2099, The Night Gwen Stacy Died), at least four different cartoons (Spectacular Spider-Man, Spider-Man Unlimited, the ’94 animated series, the ’67 meme-factory), play the PS4 Spider-Man games, know the LEGO Marvel canon, and also be fluent in meme history (yes, including ‘Bully Maguire’ and the pointing Spider-Men). That’s like a ten-year multimedia syllabus. The whole point of Spider-Verse is that it’s self-contained, celebrates all that history without demanding homework, and works perfectly even if your only Spider-Man exposure is knowing he shoots webs. Acting like you need Maguire and Garfield first is absurd, it’s one tile in a massive mosaic.

jastop94

Nah, we need to make this a tie for the memes!!!

GINA

We don’t need another war. Why are you doing this??

GINA

This poll is pissing me off you guys. WHY ARE WE SUCH A DIVIDED FAMILY? 😂

jastop94

We always need conflict. It's the symbolism of passion within the community for their chosen entertainment medium 🥰

Jav

Do both! Also yeah you don’t need to watch the previous spider man movies. There might be like 6-7 things you’ll miss but it’ll be fine. I will say do John Wick before Deadpool though. Definitely spoilers there.

Jav

Switched my vote just so there would be a tie as of now lmao

Damon Shaw

You've started WW3 😂 I'd just do both in your own time

Coconut

I would rather John wick but they are both fine

R McBean

Exactly 50/50 now at 92 votes. Aren't we the best?

John Herrick

John Wick is a good movie. Into the Spider-Verse is one of the BEST superhero movies of all time.

Liam 42

I don't get why anyone would vote spiderverse when she hasn't seen a spider-man movie yet.

Liam 42

Or like, just have seen any spider-man film...

Last time I checked into the spiderverse is, like, a spideman film...

Yeah, because Into the Spider-Verse definitely doesn’t spend 15 minutes re-explaining Spider-Man’s origin six different times just to make sure everyone’s caught up…otherwise how would you possibly follow the radical new concept of… guy gets bit by spider, gets powers, uncle dies, guilt trip. Truly groundbreaking stuff you’d never pick up otherwise.

Liam 42

So you don't think someone should check out the source material before getting into the more extended lore? Would you recommend clone wars before someone had seen a star wars film?

Courtesy Lick

The source material is 60+ years of comics, not a couple of rebooted movies. You can totally watch Into the Spider-Verse without having seen the Maguire or Garfield Spiderman movies and still get everything that matters. The movie is completely self contained. Miles Morales’ story, the multiverse concept, and all the new Spider heroes are introduced from scratch, so you won’t be lost at all. These movies are written and designed to appeal to a wider general audience. Not some exclusive club. The only thing you might “miss” are the little Easter eggs and nods to the older films. But none of that is essential to understanding or enjoying the story, it’s just extra fun if you know the old movies. You won’t lose any of the emotional impact or the main story. Not even close to being equivalent to watching the clone wars cartoon without the original trilogies.

GINA

All you want is violence and I respect that
