You know what? I'm really glad I had zero clue what this movie is about and I feel like there is a chance I watched a trailer for it at some point but that didn't stick in my memory so I went into this completely blind and wow, what a time that was.

Happy Monday everyone! Grab a snack, a drink, ignore work and all other responsibilities and let's watch as lil scottie fights his demons girlfriend's exes

Very fun and inventive movie. Pls also watch Godzilla from that poll. Such a good and different movie from what you'd expect from a Godzilla movie. Especially if you watched any of the US movies. IT'S A MOVIE ABOUT FOUND FAMILY!

Great reaction. A lot of video games have been made real into a live action movie. This was a real life story turned into a video game. It was wild in the best of ways. Also, I have not seen Sky High, so I should not comment on its quality. But kind of want to anyway.

2026-09-24 03:00 Thank you so much for this. Seriously one of my favorite movies, with/because of all of its weird edges The whole cast of this movie is incredible (especially given how much Anna Kendrick, Chris Evans, Brie Larsen, and Kieren Culkin have blown up since then) but I absolutely love Ellen Wong as Knives. She plays the full range of sweetest girl in the world to revenge-seeking, wire-flying, sword-wielding ex so well and it's part of why the whole movie works. There's actually an alternate ending scene where Scott stays with her and lets Ramona go. She's too cool for him both times The song Scott's ex sings at the concert is a real-world song by Metric called Black Sheep, but they actually released Brie Larsen's vocals for it a couple years ago as a separate track. You'll see her again on your Marvel journey, but she's also a really fucking good singer and I love her version of the song And last but not least, our favorite punk girl ex Roxy is the voice of Katara

The song that "fucks" is on Spotify. It's called Black Sheep (Brie Larson vocal version)

So glad you took a break from the comic book movies to watch...a guy do special effects heavy battle with enemies.

Xenoprism

iirc Bryan Lee O'Malley (author of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels) said that when the evil exes explode into coins, they just respawn at home lmao

One of my all time favourites. If you liked it, the comic series it was based on is absolutely worth checking out. The movie was a great adaptation, but they had to make some changes and really crush down the timeline to make everything fit (the comics take place over the course of a couple of years versus a couple of weeks in the movie), among other changes. There was also an animated series released a couple of years ago that's a completely different take on the story, and also quite good.

Originally done by a band named "Metric". They have video out there at a con promoting this movie back in the day. Both versions are bangers!

This is one of my favorite movies, I have seen it more times than I can count. Here is a great link to break down all the stuff you might of missed because it's so full of things. Check it out if you are at the least bit interested, you won't regret it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jEEk41W3DY Plus, the cast is crazy great considering how many of them are amazing actors today. You have Captain America, Captain Marvel, and a version of Superman plus another Marvel character that appears in one of the Marvel shows. Not sure if you are going to venture into the Marvel shows at all so I won't spoil that reveal just in case.

Love this movie very much, but man Scott is the wooorrsst.

No you're right; Sky high slaps. The movie makes a lot more sense when you suspend your disbelief and remember it's not based in the real world; it's based in Canada

Edgar Wright directed this movie and Baby Driver! He def has a super dynamic visual style. Would also recommend his other movies. The Cornetto trilogy is classic!

Holodeck

"Is she doing charity work" is diabolical

Chris Brown

I don't fully remember, because I'm old now (and we don't need to talk about it), but I'm pretty sure vegan powers was a meme before memes were a thing

Michael St. George

I'm proud of you for having watched Sky High. It's a pretty sick flick, if sadly underappreciated.

Michael St. George

Fun fact: gum being stuck in your digestive track for 7 years is a myth; it's only stuck in there for usually just under two days.

Spencer Wichmann

Knew you were talking about Sky High as soon as you paused it to talk about the actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead lol also the first movie I saw her in, absolute CLASSIC movie

MacGuffin

Not sure if anyone else has commented it. But along with this stacked cast of irl actors, you've got some great VA's too. The woman who plays Roxy is Mae Whitman; Katara. Only learnt this a couple of years ago and now I can't unhear it.

One of my favorite trivia bits about this movie, is there's a deleted scene of an alternate ending where Scott chooses Knives instead of Ramona.
