Another excellent reaction, Gina. I like your acerbic POV. It's refreshing. As far as the note for cigarettes go, it would definitely have worked. Of course, machines with no oversight at all were still plentiful then and if Jolene found a way into any town or gas station, she would have no problem getting them. This show gets its time down beautifully; even though it's slightly before my time, watching it still walks me down memory lane. Looking forward to e 3 in about 168 hours. ETA: there is a really good documentary on Judit Polgár on Netflix. Her life story parallels Beth's in some ways. And another dumentary on chess that starts on 4/14 called Chess Mates about a match between the world champion, Magnus Carlsen, and a teenager who beat him. According to the blurb, a scandal ensued.
